Anyway, this one shot is super long so for you, I have put a interval. So you know exactly from where to continue. Have a great time reading it and I love you guys.

"I Valka, the proud mother of the Cheif Hiccup Horrendous Haddock announce the engagement of my son with Astrid Hofferson!!" Valka shouted as the crowd cheered.

Hiccup gulped, this isn't what he wanted. He wasn't just ready but this was eninvitable. He had been Cheif for the past two years and now his poeple were expecting him to get married and give the tribe a heir and who could be a more better candidate for marriage than Astrid Hofferson, the best dragon rider, one of the saviours of Berk and most importantly Hiccup's girlfriend from the past seven years.

After alot of insisting from his mother and the elders of the tribe. Hiccup and Astrid had finally agreed on marriage but to Hiccup even Astrid didn't look ready. Her confident expression had disappeared during the entire ceremony.

She was nervously smiling the entire time and didn't even look towards Hiccup which was relieving for Hiccup and confused him at the same time.

They were getting married for Thor's sake, both of them should be jumping with joy. They loved eachother right?. Then why doesn't it feel right?.

Hiccup shook his head, over these negative thoughts. This was just nervousness and the second thoughts you have before marriage nothing else. He reassured himself.

As Gothi moved forward holding the sacred objects needed for the engagement ritual.

Merida tossed and turned in her bed, she looked at the moon outside her window. The only source of light. She raised her left hand towards the sliver light and the ring made of gold glistened followed by the ruby on it.

Her engagement ring to be specific, marking now that she was engaged to the Prince Neal. He was the future king of their neighboring tribes. They needed to make a alliance with them and now it was really necessary. Even the rest of the three tribes agreed that it was better for Merida to be married to Prince Neal rather than their own sons because they needed weaponry support due to the threat of  invasion.

Well what could have been done but Merida was fine with it, she was 21 now and had grown wiser besides Prince Neal wasn't a bad fellow. He was humble, understanding, had a good sense of humour and he was in no doubt very handsome, in fact he was better known as Allen which means handsome . They had gotten to known eachother in some recent visits and got along pretty well and were getting married next month but still It didn't just feel right.

"Dear you both will learn to love eachother after all, marriage is such strong bond. Believe in my words. Neal is great young man and I am sure he will keep you happy."

Her mother had reassured after the engagement ceremony and it helped a little. Considering her parents had been in arrange marriage as well and Merida never seen two poeple who get along so well. Maybe she and Neal will be the same considering they both get along great but..as friends.

Merida shook her head, and grabbed her quill and paper writing a quick letter that she is going to camp inthe forest for some time. Her mother after all had promised her full freedom for the next month as an engagement gift.

She got dressed, grabbed necessary things and headed out.

"And now the finale and then you two will be officially engaged." Valka whispered to her son unable to contain her excitement.

"Yea..mom. I know" Hiccup said as he was handed the sword and slowly walked towards Astrid with it.

The next thing happened gave everyone a heart attack.

"Aah!!" Astrid screamed as two powerful claws gripped her arms and in a moment took off.

Hiccup fell back in shock, as he recognized the fimilair man with deadlocks riding the Lightening bolt the fastest dragon known to men.

Hiccup watched in horror as Astrid disappeared inthe dark sky in less than a second.

"Astrid!!" He shouted waking up from his frozen position.

Let's take a moment to thank Drago Bludvist.

"Hiccup where are you going?" Valka asked as Hiccup rushed towards Toothless.

"Going to find Astrid ofcourse!!", he replied jumping on Toothless, he groaned he was wearing his formal wear which contained of a long cloak that trailed to the ground. In frustration he tore apart the cape and re- adjusted himself on Toothless.

His friends were right behind him. They all left the ground followed by Stromfly.

Stromfly was a tracking dragon so she could track her owner easily. The gang needed to keep up with her.

After an hour of flying, the clouds started grizzling and before you know it heavy rain starting pouring with occasional lightening

"Great this was just what we were missing" Hiccup said sarcastically trying to keep up of Stromfly. Who started acting crazy after the raining.

"Toothless keep a eye on her" Hiccup ordered and suddenly Toothless zoomed off.

"Hiccup wait!!" He heard Fishlegs faint call but it was too late.

His friends had disappeared from sight as Toothless kept his best to keep up with Stromfly.

The rain increased, Hiccup was soaking now and Toothless's speed had lowered. Lightening striked infront of the pair and Toothless backed up.

Lightening striked again and this time it hit Toothless's fake tail destroying it and the pair tumbled to the ground and everything went black.

"Great just what I needed" Merida groaned covering her head with hood of her cloak as the rain poured on her. Good thing was that she was near her shelter.

After finally reaching her shelter, thankfully not too wet.

Merida watched the dark sky as thunder boomed and lightening striked. The same storm was going inside her head.

She started feeling drowsy and Angus was already fast asleep beside her. Surprisingly they both fitted in pretty well and had still had spare room.

Her eyelids started to feel heavy, and she fall asleep missing the epic crash that happened a few miles away just minutes later.

Next morning

Something tickled Merida's nose.

"Hamish get that darn feather out of ma face" she muttered annoyed her eyes still closed.

The tickling continued, and Merida snapped her eyes open in annoyance.

"A wisp" she breathed, her excitement getting out of control. Another adventure. After 5 years. There was no way Merida was gonna miss this.

She quickly got up following the wisp as it disappeared and appeared further away.

The wisp finally disappeared near a pile of broken down trees.

Merida after alot hardship climbed over the pile of trees and almost tripped back seeing what was infront of her.

A dragon and a young man. The dragon was circling the young man who looked unconscious and sometimes poking the man lightly with his paw as if to try to wake him up.

The dragon looked tamed considering he was wearing a saddle type thing. Merida slowly started walking backwards but as always there was this stupid twig which snapped causing the dragon to look at her direction.

"No no no no, nice dragon" Merida muttered helplessly as the dragon approached her, his eyes fixed on hers.

The dragon grabbed the end Merida's cloak from its mouth and started gently pulling her towards the unconscious man.

Merida stood confusingly above the person. What did the dragon want her to do?. She turned back to the dragon, who pointed to the unconscious man and then back to her.

Then things clicked, in Merida's mind. She kneeled next to the person, he was heavily breathing and slightly shivering as well. Merida slowly brushed the bangs from his forehead to check if he was having a fever or not.

Just as she was about to touch his forehead, the man jolted awake causing her to fall back in surprise.

"Oh Thor!!" Hiccup exclaimed panting hard, he almost got a heart attack.

"Seriously don't do that" Merida said sitting up again also catching her breath.

"Your the one who scared me!!" Hiccup said still trying to regain his senses.

"I was just checking, if you were alive and I wouldn't have done it. If your scary dragon didn't force me to" Merida snapped.

Toothless had now come towards Hiccup, with his tongue sticking out happy to see his friend awake.

Hiccup tried to stand up but suddenly he fell back again.

"Are you okay?" Merida asked concerned

"A night spend soaking inthe rain didn't really do me good" Hiccup replied turning back to Toothless who also looked worried as well.

"But a little help would be appreciated" Hiccup asked and Merida nodded giving him her hand as he tried to stand up.

His hand was burning literally, Hiccup could barely stand up. He took support from Merida leaning against her.

"You are really hot" Merida commented as she tried her best to keep her balance in slippery ground as well as to keep up the young man.

"Thanks I get that alot"

"I meant your having fever" Merida said through her gritted and Hiccup was pretty sure if her hands weren't occupied she would have smacked him.

After walking a little Merida gave up, there was no way she could carry him especially since he was already too exhausted.

But she needed to help him. The wisp had brought her to him for a reason.

Finally they reached a nice sunny spot, Merida helped Hiccup sit down leaning against Toothless.

She sat beside him, touching his cheek and then his forehead. He was definitely having a fever and a very high one.

"Well it's confirmed your ill" Merida whispered looking at the young man who looked like he could faint any minute.

Hiccup coughed back in reply, he could barely open his eyes. He had no idea why this girl was helping him. He rested his head better on Toothless's back. Almost falling back to sleep. His shivering increased and Merida noticed it.

"Here have my cloak, you need it more than me" Merida said taking off her cloak and draping it around Hiccup who looked paler than ever.

"Thank you, my name is Hiccup by the way" He introduced holding her hand.

Merida faintly smiled, "My name is Merida and I will be right back" she said gently released her hand from his grip.

Hiccup saw her disappear, he couldn't help but keep smiling. He was feeling really weird and happy. He hoped that Merida did come back and this shouldn't all turn out to be some stupid dream. Stupid fever making his head go weird.

"Princess, your back. I didn't expect to see you so early" Maudie said as Merida raided the medicine drawer.

"Yea, I just forgot a few things. Don't let mum know I was here" Merida said shoving the bottles of medicine in her bag.

"But why are you taking so many medicine, Princess?" Maudie asked and Merida mentally groaned. Maudie can be so nosy sometimes.

"Incase i got sick" she replied finally abandoning the medicine closet.

"Bye Maudie and remember no telling Mum" she said running off.

"Hey wake up," Merida gently shoved Hiccup,.

Hiccup was breathing really heavily now, he barely opened his eyes and a faint smile spread on his face.

"Here take this, it tastes terrible but it instantly gets rid of the fever" Merida said giving him the bottle but Hiccup almost dropped it due to his hand shaking.

Merida rolled her eyes, taking the bottle from him and bringing it close to his mouth.

"You know your really clumsy" she commented and Hiccup faintly chuckled.

"I really missed being called that. Thanks" he whispered.

"Enough talking, drink this in one swallow or other wise you will regert it" she warned as Hiccup gulped down and almost gagged.

"This is worse then Astrid's holiday drink" he muttered. His head started to clear a bit and Hiccup was surprised by the quick results.

"And now you need to eat something, since your weak" Merida said tossing him an apple.

"What are you my mother?" He playfully joked.

After a moment of silence, Merida replied.

"Well I prefer the term Fairy Godmother . You know the princess is in trouble and then the fairy godmother comes to the rescue. Yes quite more fitting" Merida said sarcastically and seriously that made Hiccup almost choke on his apple.

"I look like a princess?" Hiccup asked amused.

"Quite so, i can tell by your outfit that your from a high status. You have shiny hair with braids and also a flying pony. Yes you fill all the requirements" Merida replied proud of her answer.

And then there was comfortable silence, Toothless's heavy breathing could be heard as he peacefully slept knowing his friend was okay now.

"Thank you really..., for.. helping me" Hiccup whispered, his eyes fixed onthe apple core in his hands.

"Well the wisp brought me to you, so it was my fate to help you" Merida mumbled with equal shyness, as she fiddled with her engagement ring which was shining beautifully inthe summer light.

"So your engaged?" Hiccup asked softly finally noticing the ring.

"Uh huh, arranged marriage. I am still don't know what to think about it, to be honest. I know its stupid-" Merida chuckled half heartily.

"I mean he's a great guy. My parents say I can't find anyone better than him. We have known eachother for almost a year now. We get along great but I just don't know. I simply can't imagine spending the rest of my life with him" she whispered as she was talking to herself rather than to him.

"Well marriage is a big step. Yesterday I was getting engaged to the girl I love for more than 7 years but I just couldn't get the image of us getting married. I felt stupid that even after 7 years I wasn't ready to spend my life with her. So maybe marriage makes everyone nervous and then we move on from that stage" Hiccup reassured and Merida shook her head.

"Or maybe you don't love her. Maybe you were never in love with her." Merida shrugged and Hiccup protested.

"I am in love with her. I know that for sure and that's why I am here inthe first place. She got captured by my enemy and I was looking for her but then Toothless's fake tail broke so we crashed here and that reminds me that I need to fix the tail and get back looking for her because .....I love her!!" Hiccup said shouting the last part, Merida had just pointed out his worst fear.

When someone points out your insecurity, anyone can get defensive. Simple human nature.

"Geez, no need to get all defensive. I just told you my theory. I am sorry if I said something that 'offended your love for her'". Merida said sarcastically,.

Hiccup sighed, how stupid can he get. "Look Merida, I am really sorry. I am just frustrated about this whole matter and I am sorry for the way I acted".

Merida's face softened, it was kinda her fault as well. She shouldn't have bluntly pointed out like that. Poeple are really sensitive onthe topic of who they love. It's not like I would know, I never loved anyone inthat way. She thought bitterly before turning back to Hiccup who was anxiously waiting for her reply.

"It's okay, kinda my fault as well..... So I smell an adventure. A damsel in distress. Let's go save her" Merida playfully added the last part trying to ease the tension which worked.

"She would kill you, if she ever heard you. Call her that" Hiccup chuckled.

He stood up and started to get things out of Toothless's saddle. Good thing he always kept spare parts for his fake tail. All he need to do was assemble it.

"So she's a tough girl" Merida asked taking out her favourite pastery to eat.

"Well woman of my land are tough but it's safe to say she is the toughest" Hiccup replied working onthe fake tail as Toothless slept peacefully.

"You then don't need to worry, I am pretty sure she is giving a hard time to that enemy of yours" Merida said punching the air.

Hiccup smiled at her actions, this girl sure was something. He had known her for less than a day but he never felt so much at home.

"I hope so, you look a tough girl too." He commented his eyes back onthe tail.

" For your information,I am the best archerer inthe land, and not bad with sword either." She boasted taking out her sword.

"Good, I like tough girls" he mumbled.

Astrid could barely opened her eyes, she was locked in a dark place. She hadn't anything to drink or eat from yesterday and not to mention her arms were covered with scratches from the Dragon's claws.

She heard Drago barking orders at someone.

"Make sure she doesn't escape and give her minimum food, only enough for her to survive and if she tries to escape. Give her the most painful death possible." He said to a man and left.

Astrid growled, he's gonna pay for kidnapping her. She wished Stromfly was here. She would soon arrive, after all she's the tracking dragon type but she needed to know Drago's plans first.

Astrid in frustration slammed her fist against the cold metal ground and winced at her injured arm.

"Where are we going?" Hiccup asked Merida impatiently dragged him with her.

"You want to find your girlfriend right?"

"Yea but where are you taking me?" Hiccup asked as Toothless followed behind them avoiding branches but Hiccup was less fortunate considering he already had been smacked by 5 branches.

"You have the curiosity and patience of a five year-old" Merida commented ducking a branch.

"Well thank you. So can you now explain" Hiccup asked stubbornly.

"I already told you about the wisp, well they once brought me to a witch's cottage. If we can find the witch maybe she can help us. You know give us a spell or something"

"So I have encountered witches, wisp and a fairy godmother and the next thing I know is that, we encounter trolls and then a musical number starts and we dance all our troubles away" Hiccup said sarcastically.

"Well you would have an amazing story to tell your children. Kids I lost your mom once so I danced with trolls to make myself feel better" Merida replied.

"Well you can tell your kids that, you know kids I was so scared of marrying your dad that I used to run away to the forest and then I use to go adventures with strangers just so I can avoid your dad" Hiccup shot back.

"Well you can tell your kids, that kids after dating your mother for the past 7 years and knowing her since my childhood I was still shaking in my boots when I was getting engaged to her" Merida replied to which Toothless started laughing in a snarky way.

Merida grinned by the sudden support, "See even Toothless agrees with me".

"I will show you, both you!!" Hiccup threatened causing Merida and Toothless fall in a fit of laughter which made Hiccup fluster more.

He stomped ahead angrily, Merida and Toothless shared a amused look.

"We should go after him, before he gets lost" Merida said and Toothless nodded.

"Hiccup I am sorry, it's just really fun teasing you" Merida called finally catching up to him.

"Well it's just been a longtime, since I have been teased or treated like a normal person. I am looked as a Cheif and even my old friends have started showing a little formality towards me" Hiccup replied sadly, he was never treated as an equal by them.

"Well I didn't have much friends to begin with, my best friend is my horse Angus. I share everything with him. He's been with me in everything. Then poeple I count as my friends are my brothers. They are triplets and quite trouble makers. Surprisingly we get along great. Then there is my dad, who understands me better than anyone. I am pretty sure I can never be treated differently by any of these poeple" Merida wondered.

"That's true. Toothless is the only one who treats me the same no matter how powerful or famous I become"

"Maybe because he became friends with the real you. Not with Hiccup who can tame dragons" with that Merida walked away taking a apple from her bag and munching it noisily trying to avoid further conversation.

Think about this line poeple, it has deep meaning.

Hiccup looked at Toothless, who looked back innocently. "Thanks bud" Hiccup whispered softly almost crying.

"We are here!!" They heard Merida shout.

They both finally caught up with Merida, who was standing outside a small hut.

"It's here!!"Merida cheered.

"Sorry bud, but you have to say outside" Hiccup and Toothless pouted, he wanted to go inside too.

"Aah princess, how are you?, it's been a longtime since I last saw you. Five years. I even heard that finally the wedding bells are going to ring. Want wood carving of you and your beloved?" She asked carving a peice of wood.

"Actually we want a spell, from you" Merida said, in drop the act tone.

"What are you talking about, I have no spells. I am no witch. I am a humble wood carver" The witch said.

"Your a witch"

"Wood carver"

"Witch"

"Wood carver"

"Witch"

Hiccup looked from Merida back to the old woman and then back and forth till his head was spinning.

"Stop it!!" He shouted.

"Oh sorry sonny didn't see you there, which carving would you like?" The witch said turning his attention to Hiccup.

"I..uh..actually can't decide. They all are so beautiful and detailed. You are really talented" Hiccup complimented.

"Oh your making an old lady blush" The witch said looking down at the floor.

"But I have also heard that you are also a very talented witch and I am in need of your talent very much so will you help me?" Hiccup asked.

"When sweet boys like you ask, I can't refuse you" the witch said clapping her hands.

"That was traumatizing and amazing at the same time" Merida whispered to a very proud Hiccup.

"Flattery will get you everything" Hiccup whispered back.

"Ok so what do you need a spell for?" The witched asked and Hiccup explained the whole situation.

"This is a tough one. ...tough one indeed" the witch whispered.

"But you have something right?" Merida asked.

"Well there is something, but it's not stable" the witch said to herself.

"What is it?" Hiccup asked.

"There is a dust, you need to think about that person and then throw it onthe ground. You will land in a location near that person. That can..help"

"So what's the problem in it?" Merida asked.

"Well maximum 4 poeple can use it and it has a specific time, just as the sun is setting you have to use it otherwise it won't work" The witch replied.

"Well that's good enough, you, me and Toothless and then later Astrid" Hiccup said to Merida.

"I don't have enough for a return journey, you need to find your way back" the witch interupped.

"That can be done" Hiccup said, he was trying his best to be positive inthe situation.

"This isn't one of your twisted spells, is it?" Merida asked suddenly, her suspicious side speaking.

"No ofcourse, I don't the princess to disappear just a month before her wedding." The witch joked.

Merida glared at her not appreciating her sense of humour.

"Anything else, you have that can help us?" Hiccup asked.

"Well my goodbye kisses works like a charm" the old witch crackled.

"Good luck with that buddy" Merida said teasingly patting Hiccup's back.

"I think this will do" Hiccup said taking the bag which contained the dust and Merida took out two gold coins.

"No this is not my payment" the witch said shaking her head.

"Then what exactly do you want?" Merida asked annoyed.

"That!" The witch said pointing to Merida's left hand.

"Hey! I can't give you this. That's asking too much" Merida said protecting her left hand.

"I don't want it forever, I just recognize the design, the making. It's has my sister written all over it" the witch said wistfully.

"Your sister as in another witch" Hiccup asked.

"Ring maker!! The pair of you is so annoying" the witch said shaking her head.

"Listen here's the deal, you lend me the ring or no magical dust" the witch said snatching the bag from Hiccup.

This was going to take a while, so why don't we see how Astrid is going.

Astrid sat up straight as she heard the door creak open, she wanted to stand up and punch the guy square inthe face but she needed to act smart, play dumb.

A muscular man entered, he looked about her age.

The man didn't hold a ruthless expression, he looked worried instead which confused Astrid.

"Listen, I know you don't know me but I need your help. My name is Eret. I am the one incharge of guarding your prison. They are going to take away my sister-." Eret stopped seeing Astrid's beyond confused face.

Eret took a deep breath and started speaking quickly, "look your right now in a small island of Scotland. Not many poeple know about this place because we keep ourselves isolated from the others. A few years ago Drago attacked this place and began his rule here. My villagers were peaceful poeple, they didn't know how to defend themselves. Drago started his cruelty here. He first started attacking the weak and the poor. My father was one of those who died fighting. He stole everything from us and then spent everything on making weapons and making himself more powerful but since Then he started a new custom" Eret stopped.

"What custom?" Astrid asked interested.

"He started selling children, every year from each family a child is taken. They perform a surprise raid at the house and grab the first child they find. My sister she is only six, I needed a place to hide her and what can be better than a dark cellar but she is a child she can get scared. So I need someone to take care of her" Eret said pleading.

"Do I look the mother type" Astrid asked raising an eyebrow. Children had never been her best skill.

"Please, she is my only family left. I have been hiding her from Drago for the past 2 years and I can't let her be taken like this" Eret begged.

"Fine I will do it" Astrid, spending the day in a dark cellar with a kid. This keeps getting better and better. Well atleast marriage was out of the question for the time being.

Eret looked like he could cry, which be weird to watch. He wiped some tears from his eyes.

"I almost forgot, here's your food" Eret said pushing a tray towards Astrid.

The food looked nice and it was in good amount considering it was for a prisoner.

"Well the guest service, is nice" Astrid commented.

" it is" Eret said leaving the cellar, and Astrid heard the door get locked from outside.

Astrid had no idea, that Eret had given her his food.

Back To Merricup

Hiccup sat near the shore, he was really worried. He hoped Astrid was okay. He had no idea how long will this search take and how exactly will he and Merida free Astrid and fight Drago.

He wanted to yell in frustration but he couldn't utter a sound.

"Toothless catch the fish!!" He heard Merida shout.

Toothless and Merida were trying to catch fish but mostly they were just playing around splashing water and such.

Hiccup's face softened, seeing Merida duck from Toothless's splash. She had helped him so much, without wanting anything in return. She also had given up her ring for the magical dust and not to mention she was a really fun companion to be with. Maybe after Toothless, she was the first person to treat him like an equal.

Before Hiccup found Toothless he was treated lowly by his poeple, after Hiccup saved everyone. It was always like Hiccup what should we do?, Hiccup what's the plan?, Hiccup calm this dragon. Hiccup, Hiccup. Hiccup the problem solver.

Maybe that's why he prefered to go exploring rather than dragon racing with his friends. Maybe that's he prefered only Toothless all this time even.

Merida could be a part of their group, the misfits . Hiccup liked to call. The three of them could go to crazy adventures together. Hiccup thought getting excited but then reality was hit again.

She was to be married next month and so was he soon. Why couldn't they have met earlier? Why!.

Do not question the author!!

"Hey Hicc" Merida called breaking the chain of thoughts.

"Yes Merida" Hiccup asked looking up.

"I was thinking, that maybe you should go back to Berk and take someone with a powerful dragon with you instead of me. I mean Toothless would need more dragon support to rescue Astrid and I am not clearly not that useful inthat matter." Merida suggested half heartly,.

This suggestion took Hiccup by surprise.

"Didn't you want to go to an adventure, one last time" He questioned.

"I did, I really did want to but I am not foolish. I know we have to do the right thing even if we are not happy with it" Merida replied.

"I am sorry, but like it or not. your coming with me. The wisp led you to me for a reason and I don't think I can do it without you" Hiccup said in a dead serious tone, staring intensely into Merida's eyes.

"But-"

"No buts, don't try to chicken out of this" he said with a small grin seeing Merida's face fluster in anger.

"I wasn't scared" Merida said crossing her arms.

"So your in?" Hiccup asked.

"Yes" Merida replied stubbornly but a small smile coming up on her lips.

"I just need to get a few things"

"Ok be quick, and bring those pastries and apples" Hiccup replied.

"Anything else your highness?" Merida asked sarcastically.

"No thank you, fairy godmother" Hiccup replied as Merida grabbed her bag and disappeared inthe forest.

"That was a close one, right Toothless" Hiccup asked his dragon who was eating his 5 fish noisily.

Hiccup layed back, resting his head on a rock. This was going to be one heck of an adventure but he was gonna love every second of it.

Sunset

"Now we need to keep the picture of Astrid, clear in our mind. We have only one chance to do it and we can't risk going some other crazy place"

"I don't know, how Astrid looks like"

"Well she has blonde hair, blue eyes, fair skin. She is tall 5'8 I guess. Her full name is Astrid Hofferson. That information ought to do it" Hiccup explained and Merida shook her head.

"After this, I am seriously gonna ask me mum to update her love novel cause whenever in those novels somebody ask, what does the person you love look like, they break in a whole poetry or song about the person' s beauty but I see that has changed." Merida teased.

Hiccup rolled his eyes," I have alot of things I would like to say to you now but considering we don't have much time. Let's leave it. You guys ready?"

Hiccup's hands were shaking as he took the dust in his hands. Toothless was at his right and Merida at his left.

Hiccup had no idea why he felt so nervous, he had done much crazier things. He was breathing heavily. His whole body shaking.

Suddenly a warm hand slipped into his left hand and squeezed it gently.

Hiccup looked beside him and Merida encouragingly smiled at him. He returned the smile and then with new confidence threw the dust onthe ground.

With the last ray of sunshine they disappeared.

I -N -T -E -R -V -A -L

Let's see what happened with Astrid, during the whole time.

Astrid heard footsteps approaching, this is crazy. Astrid thought.

The door opened and the Eret entered carrying a huge basket. Literally huge.

He gently put the basket and closed the door behind.

He opened the basket and small girl with brown hair came out clearly frightened out of her wits.

"Now Astrid, listen this kind lady is with you. So don't be scared. I will come for you. It's only for sometime ok?" He said gently to his sister and kisses her forehead.

"But-" the little girl whimpered not wanting to let go of her brother.

"Your my brave girl, right?. So please listen to me. I promise everything will be alright" Eret whispered.

"Eret where are you!!" They heard a faint call.

"Next you try to escape, i'll break your legs!!" Eret fake shouted and then quickly slipped out.

The girl turned to our Astrid, almost crying.

"So your name is Astrid? Huh?" Astrid asked managing a grin.

"Y-yes" the girl trembled.

"My name is Astrid too" Our Astrid replied.

"Really!!" The girl asked beaming.

Believe me kids are really happy when you share their name. I will never know why.

"I really like your hair style" the girl whispered, gesturing to Astrid's braid.

Astrid smiled a little, nobody complimented her like that. She was always considered Astrid the tough girl who doesn't care for these things.

"Thank you, it's called a braid. You want me to braid your hair as well" she asked and the girl grinned more and eagerly nodded.

"Do you know any stories?" Astrid Jr asked.

Astrid thought hard, then the smile came back as she braided the brown locks.

"Well there once in a Viking land....."

The whole day has passed and its night now.

Astrid thought deeply, this was actually a great day. Astrid Jr was not at all whiny crying child. She was mature but with still a childish attitude.

Right now, she was fast asleep on Astrid's lap. Astrid had never felt close to someone that much, aside from Stromfly.

The door creaked open, and Eret appeared carrying alot of food with him.

He closed the door and placed the food onthe floor. He looked at his little sister who was peacefully sleeping with a small smile on her face.

"I owe you my life, thank you so much. I can never repay your debt" he whispered.

"Is everything okay now?" Astrid asked.

"The ship has left with the children,. Drago along with his faithful servants have went with them. I feel so angry. Those innocent children" Eret said gritting his teeth.

"This place, is not for peaceful poeple anymore. That's why tonight we are leaving" Eret decided.

"Wait, we?" Astrid asked.

"Yes we, you, me and Astrid. Ofcourse after what you have done for me today. I can't leave you here. We will safely escape from here then you can go to your own village, me and Astrid can go start our life somewhere else".

"Come to Berk with me"

Next morning

Merricup

Merida read the parchment, her expression had frustration had written all over it.

Onthe parchment her speech was written, the speech for presenting the gift to her future husband. Her mother had handed her at the last second. Merida groaned there was no way she was saying this. She feel like her 16 year-old spirit was coming back.

Hiccup and Toothless were searching the land from above. Merida had declined Hiccup's offer since she really needed to get this done.

Frustrated she took her sword out, "Marriage, Marriage. Why is everything's solution marriage?. Why can't poeple live peacefully and let their rulers live peacefully as well. Why did I agree to this dreaded thing?. What pleasure do poeple get in attacking eachother?" Merida asked loudly swishing her sword left and right.

"Those are really interesting questions" Hiccup said appearing from behind her causing Merida to jump.

"Hiccup don't do that" Merida warned regaining herself.

"Sorry, are you ok?" He asked with concern seeing Merida's stressed expression.

"Hiccup, do you ever feel like running away from everything. You just want to end everything with everyone. Just live another life, where everyone's future doesn't rest on your shoulder. Where you can be that free soul. You always wanted to be" Merida asked breaking at every word.

Hiccup sighed, taking a seat beside Merida before continuing. "Every day, I wish to run off with Toothless. I desperately want to be that 15 year-old boy again. Being Cheif was never my destiny, even after two years I find it the biggest burden ever but either I am a coward or I care too much. I can't leave my. I just can't"

"You care too much, most of the times we try too keep others happy and kill our own happiness and then there are poeple who preserve their happiness and are framed selfish but believe me they are happier and then there are poeple like us, who are lost. We can't decide what we want" Merida laughed bitterly.

" If I decide to be selfish and runaway. I will come for you. We will be the travellers and will travel the world till we decide we had enough. We will meet poeple, and maybe find someone, the one and if we don't find anyone. We will be eachother's companions. What do you think?. You will come with me, right?" Hiccup asked.

"Without a second thought, we will travel the world. You, me and Toothless" Merida fantasized.

They both sat there, enjoying their imagination. Running away feels so nice.

After a while, Merida spoke. "We both know, that's never gonna happen. So do you have any news"

Hiccup chuckled, " I have great news actually, while flying I found a village. It's a little far from here. There was even a prison there. I was hiding inthe woods planning when I heard two guards talking. Turns out Astrid escaped and the guards didn't even seem to care. They decided to tell Drago that they executed her. They are not even putting a effort to search. They said, We have better things to do than following Gorilla's orders "

They both shared a hearty laugh.

" How do you know, they were talking about Astrid?" Merida asked.

"Well they referred her as, the blonde lass who is from Dragon Tribe. I am actually really relieved that she escaped, she has good wilderness skills so I am not that worried. Just need to find her and then we can leave" Hiccup said.

"Yeah" Merida whispered softly, they just needed to find her and then Merida would go back home, back to that dreaded wedding. She might never see Hiccup or Toothless again. This was it.

Hiccup right now was too relieved to think of such matters.

"So I was gonna get back on Toothless, he must be done eating by now. Atleast i wanna check the nearby forest. You want to come with me?" He asked again.

"Yea, I don't know" Merida whispered looking back to the peice of parchment.

"Come on, the ride will help you clear your mind besides no thinking about home when we are on a adventure" Hiccup said pulling Merida towards Toothless.

"Ok fine" Merida grinned rolling her eyes.

At night,

"Well that was completely useless" Merida commented, roasting the fish.

"Not completely, I say. Come on we had fun and even you relaxed from the whole marriage tension" Hiccup said biting into his fish.

"Hiccup we still need to find your faincee!!" Merida exclaimed.

"You think, I am not worried. I am just trying to stay positive but no, you need to stay Miss Negative. Seriously I feel bad for Neil he has to spend rest of his life with you" Hiccup teased.

"I will feel really glad, if he says no" Merida commented.

"Hey! No fair, If I get married. You have too" Hiccup argued.

"Why don't we set up a arranged marriage between Neil and Astrid" Merida suggested.

"We have a better chance of finding a whole civilization of nightfuries than of that ever happening" Hiccup commented.

Toothless heard this comment and slapped Hiccup with his tail.

"You deserved that" Merida said eating her own fish.

"Ouch!! Hot!" Merida shouted, as her tongue burned.

"And you just deserved that" Hiccup said cracking up laughing.

Merida angrily threw the hot fish at his face.

"Who's laughing now!" She asked grinned despite her burned tongue.

Well that was Merricup, a little faraway was another pair. Acting more maturely. But we still love Merricup. Just the way they are.

"Wow so your going to be Cheiftess?" Eret asked amazed and Astrid nodded.

"But it's not easy, controlling a guy like Hiccup is really hard. He may look like a simple smart, sensible person but he is the total opposite" Astrid explained.

"So are you excited to marry him, I have heard that girls are really excited when they are getting married" Eret asked awkwardly, trying to continue the conversation.

Astrid punched his arm, " Do I look like a girly girl to you" she asked playfully. Which is not normal, not normal.

Eret didn't even wince, " you got to punch harder to hurt me" he challenged.

"Challenge, sure" Astrid said focusing her energy in her palm and punched him hard onthe shoulder again.

"Sorry, lass but I won" Eret grinned making Astrid annoyed.

"Would you to keep it down a little. I am trying to sleep" The younger Astrid sleepily muttered.

"Sorry Astrid, we will try to be quiet" Eret whispered.

"Who named her?" Astrid asked.

"I did, after 18 years of being the only child. My little sister was born. I love her more than anything. I wanted her to have the most beautiful name." Eret explained and faint blush appeared on both of their cheeks.

We all have different opinions Eret. So I won't judge you.

Ok Back To Merricup

Next day

"Toothless as much as I love you, I don't appreciate you waking me up with your saliva" Hiccup said trying to wash his face.

He was kneeling next to the river, it looked a little deep.

Toothless was standing beside him, giving him the like I ever listen to you look.

The moment you want to steal Toothless from Hiccup but you don't want to ruin their friendship and you already have a stuffed Toothless which your sister threw inthe ceiling fan once but he survived.

Merida was still sleeping, lucky.

"I am telling you Toothless, you do that again and I will get myself a new dr-Aaah!!" Hiccup screamed as he fell head first inthe water.

He resurfaced, spitting out water but his wet hair covering his eyes.

He was greeted by a very fimilair laughter,.

"Merida!!" He shouted trying to remove his hair from his eye.

"Yes Hiccup?" She asked innocently.

"You are so dead!!" He threatened, the water was coming till his waist.

"I am sorry, what did you say?" Merida asked, standing very dangerously close to the edge.

Hiccup was about to reply, when he noticed Toothless creeping up behind Merida.

"Ok, I admit. Your better than me at this game" Hiccup swimming a little futher from the edge.

"You do?" Merida asked confused.

"Uh huh, I am nothing compared to you inthe art of trickery" He said grinning more as Merida got more confused.

"Hiccup you o- Aaah!" Merida screamed as Toothless pushed her, using his head.

Since Toothless had more force in his push, Merida fell inthe water further.

Good thing was that Hiccup was prepared, he outstretched his arms and Merida fell right into them.

"Toothless..that was not cool" Merida breathed, clutching on Hiccup's shoulder tightly.

"Caught you" Hiccup grinned,.

They didn't have much time to catch their breath because the next jumper was Toothless.

"Woah bud!" Hiccup shouted, trying to stop Toothless from jumping but it was too late.

"Uh oh" Hiccup muttered, his arm protectively on Merida's shoulder as they both got attacked by the huge wave caused by Toothless.

"Well I am officially wet" Merida muttered from behind the curtain of her hair which was covering her face.

"Well you started it and bud here, just knows how to join the fun" Hiccup said gesturing to Toothless who who looking back at them innocently.

"Wow your really short" Hiccup said, the water was coming till her elbows.

"Well atleast I have my both legs" she shot back.

"Fair enough" Hiccup said splashing water on her.

"What was that for?" Merida asked confused.

"For pushing me," Hiccup replied and Merida rolled her eyes.

Merida then splashed water on Toothless who splashed water on Hiccup and that's how the epic water fight began.

Toothless silently slipped away from the water fight and discreetly gave the thumbs up to the Author. Who returned it and gave him the signal for his next move. Toothless nodded.

Well drastic time calls for drastic measures.

Toothless discreetly swam behind Merida, Hiccup's attention was too focused on Merida to notice his bestfriend.

Toothless gently pushed Merida towards Hiccup. Unfortunately Merida lost her balance but Hiccup caught her before she would fall.

One hand on her waist and other holding her hand firmly.

Merida's hand on Hiccup's shoulder and other holding his hand. From afar they looked like lunatics dancing inthe water.

But their eyes fixed on eachother, the time has stopped.

Slowly Hiccup brushed a stray strand hair from her face and neatly tucked it behind her ear.

From the same hand, he cupped her cheek.

They leaned closer, their hearts beating and they have no idea what they are doing because they were under the trance of love.

Closer.

Screeech!!!

I am gonna make you suffer.

"Was that a dragon!" Hiccup said breaking from the trance and looking up.

Toothless's ear pricked, that was Stromfly's call, she was calling for Toothless. The dragons had made call, so it was easier finding eachother.

Toothless roared in response and they heard that screech sound again. Stromfly had heard him which meant she was coming here.

Hiccup looked beside him to see, Merida had disappeared. She was out of the water and she was dripping wet.

Merida let herself enjoy the warmth from the sun and then she put on her cloak.

Hiccup was now also out of the water followed by Toothless, both of their eyes fixed onthe sky.

Finally Merida spotted some dots inthe sky, as they came closer to the ground, they took the shape of four dragons and found poeple.

"Hiccup thank Thor we found you!" Fishlegs said getting off Meatlug.

There was some reunion between the friends and Merida just hung back a little. She felt out of place suddenly.

Toothless came to her, to keep her company while Hiccup talked to his friends.

"Toothless you know, I want to go home now. I almost did something really stupid today" she whispered and Toothless looked at her with understanding eyes.

"Who are you?" The chubby guy who Hiccup called Fishlegs asked. By now everyone's attention turned to her.

"I am Merida" she introduced confidently.

"Merida helped me get here" Hiccup explained not making eye contact.

"Well I was gonna go on a adventure, will you help me?" The Snotlout guy asked, he was obviously flirting.

Hiccup was about to step in but Merida took care of it, " Sorry but my faince is waiting for me at home" she replied in a sarcastic tone and Hiccup felt a pang.

Something he never felt before, also why did he suddenly got so defensive when Snotlout flirted with Merida?. Flirting was Snotlout's thing. He always used to flirt with Astrid, what's the big deal now?.

Hiccup shook his head, trying to clear his head.

Few hours later

Astrid was walking, trying to figure out to get back to Berk. She was wondering what was the doing and how come Stromfly hadn't tracked her yet.

Eret was walking a little behind having a conversation with his little sister. Astrid faintly smiled at the pair.

She was just about to turn left when suddenly a sound made her freeze.

Screech!!

That was Stromfly's sound! . Astrid couldn't contain her excitement.

"Stromfly!! I am here!! Girl!" Astrid shouted, Eret and Astrid jr stopped beside her confused.

"Stromfly!" Astrid cheered, as she saw the fimilair dragon figure, she must have heard her after all dragons have sharp hearing skills.

"Holy Moly" Eret muttered in amazement.

Finally Stromfly landed onthe ground and Astrid ran to hug her.

"I missed you girl" she muttered with tears of joy coming

A moment later, all the dragon riders landed.

"Astrid!" Hiccup called, running towards. He couldn't believe he finally found her.

Merida watched this with a sad smile, maybe he did love her?. The joke was on her now. Astrid was beautiful no doubt, she was the typical heroine with her rosy skin, blonde hair and light blue eyes. Merida was nothing compared to her. Instead of shaking these thoughts away, she accepted them. She accepted the fact, that she liked him in a way she had never liked anyone before but he belonged to someone and so did she.

"So just a hug, hmmm surprising" Ruffnut commented at the couple who were talking now.

"Look even Astrid found someone" Tuffnut pointed.

"Do these forest give every lost person a companion?" Fishlegs wondered.

"Ok that's it!, I am getting lost as well. See you later with my beautiful girlfriend" Snotlout grinned.

"Don't be daft Snotlout, we need to head back home" Astrid said joining the group.

"Yeah, we have played enough hide and seek. Tommorow morning we head back. It's gonna be dark soon." Hiccup said and the rest nodded.

That night

Merida looked at the sky covered with stars, it was such a beautiful sight. She was a little further away from everyone else. Ok she was totally out of sight. It felt so good being alone, lying onthe soft long grass enjoying the chilly breeze.

She looked at her ring finger, it felt so free right now. She looked at Moon,. She remembered her mother telling her story of the man inthe moon.

"Ya know, Manny. You should try to simplify my life not complicate it further" she muttered angrily.

"Who's Manny?"

"The man onthe moon" Merida replied briefly glancing at Hiccup who sat beside her.

"I was looking for you, when did you leave. You could have atleast told me" He asked suddenly.

"Well I was never the one to stay inthe crowds and I don't feel obligated to tell you anything" Merida whispered closing her eyes.

"Excuse me!"Hiccup asked a little angry.

"I think you should head back to your friends, I am not clearly inthe mood to talk. I have alot on my mind" Merida whispered and Hiccup's face softened.

"Look Mer, it's our last night together, we shouldn't fight. I really want to spend some time with you before we part our ways tommorow morning" Hiccup said sighing sadly.

Merida's cheeks flushed hearing this.

"Well it's safe to say, that tommorow maybe the last time we see eachother" Merida said sitting up but not daring to meet Hiccup's eyes.

"Don't be Miss Negative again, ofcourse we can see eachother again" Hiccup said trying to reassure himself more.

"Hiccup even if we do, it's not going to be the same. We both might be married and might even have children and I don't think it's normal to leave our families and have a private you and me time" Merida explained.

Hiccup thought for a while, " when are you getting married? "

"Onthe 23" Merida replied gloomily.

"Then it's decided, we will meet onthe 19 of the next month and keep your schedule clear. We are gonna dedicate the whole day to having fun and enjoy our last moments of freedom together." He suggested and Merida grinned.

"Sounds great" she commented.

"So that's settled, for time being lets enjoy the time we have left together" Hiccup said falling back onthe grass.

We lie, beneath the stars at night.
Our hands gripping eachother tight.
                                            ( young blood)

The next morning

The dreaded journey began, It was decided that the rest of the gang will head to Berk and Hiccup would join them after he had dropped Merida back to Dunbroch.

"So this is it..." Merida muttered getting off Toothless.

"I can't believe the way back to home was so short" Hiccup mumbled, even though it was a lie, it took them two hours to find Dunbroch and they had even stopped for a break. Make it three hours.

Merida felt suddenly sick remembering the duties that were waiting for her. On second thought, I don't need to go back. I'll change my identity and live in Berk.

Just imagine that your reading the last book or watching the last movie of your favorite series and now it's the end. You don't have anything to look forward to after this. This is the end and you want to just leave everything and be with that book.

Hiccup noticed her tense expression,  "Hey..Mer it's going to be okay. Don't over think things. Everything is going to be okay" He said in a soft voice, gently holding her cheek.

"You as much obnoxious as you are,  can be really sweet sometimes" Merida said, with a small smile causing Hiccup to chuckle.

"That's because, even though you are loud, outspoken, annoying, quick tempered.  I care about you and I can't bear to see you sad and I just want you to know... that I will miss you.. terribly" He said looking at the ground. As a single tear threatened to fall.

"Hey! Don't cry because if you start crying..so I will start crying....and that's not exactly good for my reputation" Merida joked gently wiping the single tear from his face and he managed a weak grin.

"And I am gonna miss you two too," she said hugging Toothless's neck.

"Have a safe journey Cheif" she whispered, her arms around his neck and his arms around her waist. As they clung to eachother. Not wanting to let go

After a minute,  they finally let go. They shared a sad gaze before Merida started walking away.

Merida faintly smiled at them before she started going to the opposite direction. Each step heavier than the last. Hiccup was breathing heavily, it took all strenght to not grab Merida and then never let go.

Toothless nudged his shoulder and Hiccup patted his head.

This was the hardest goodbye ever.

At the castle

"Merida dear you look a mess" Queen Eleanor said to her daughter. Who looked colour drained.

" I know..mum" Merida said glumly.

"Are you ok lass?" Eleanor asked having no idea why her daughter looked so depressed.

"Yea I am just tired" Merida replied heading inside.

"Meri" a voice called.

Merida froze, she turned around to see Neil running towards her with a wide grin.

"Merida, your finally back!" Neil grinned,.

"Hi Neil, what a surprise" Merida said trying to smile.

"Not the welcome I expected but I am glad to see my princess" Neil said his dark blue eyes twinkling,. He took hold of both of her hands and kissed her knuckles.

"Okay I think you need to rest, we will talk inthe evening."  He said and Merida nodded. Neil's face dropped a little, Merida felt bad how she treated him.

"Sure, see you inthe evening" she smiled and kissed his cheek.

He instantly grinned.

The thing they didn't know was that, a certain young man with his nightfury was watching the whole scene unfold.

His teeth gritting with jealousy as he sighed sadly, " Let's go Toothless" he whispered.

A week later

"Hiccup, aren't you coming with us?" Fishlegs asked.

"No thanks guys, I have got work to do" Hiccup muttered.

As usual Eret was seated behind Astrid, the village was filled rumours but it didn't bother any three of them.

Hiccup had realized a week ago that he didn't love Astrid, Merida was right. Merida,.. that dreaded name. Hiccup thought bitterly. He once heard that redheads are witches. He had laughed hearing this but now the joke was on him.

Merida was indeed a witch, she had bewitched him body and soul.

Hiccup went inside and picked up a charcoal and he started drawing his longingness away.

Meanwhile, Merida who was working onthe new tapestry as forced by her mother. Her mother had done all the work and now her only work was to make the figure of her and Neal. She had made her and Neal's but she had to make his eyes.

Absentsmindly she grabbed the green thread and start  to sew the eyes.

"Lass get your heads out of the clouds. His eyes are blue not green" Eleanor scolded.

"Sorry mum" Merida mumbled, Eleanor's expression softened.

"Is everything dear, did you two have a fight"  her mother asked worried.

"No mum, I am stressed about the whole wedding thing. I mean it's all so huge" Merida declared frustrated and Eleanor immediately hugged her.

"I am sorry lass, I forgot how hard this time must be for you but all I can say I am very proud of you. You have helped us alot" Eleanor said stroking her wild curls.

"You go rest, I will complete it. You have done a great job"

Merida nodded gratefully as she sat beside the window watching the activities of below as she tried to clear her head. The sky was covered with clouds. After while it started to rain heavily. Rain...

She met him after the rain. She shook her head angrily. Get over it Merida. She scolded herself but inthe end she accepted that, she couldn't that easily so it was waste of energy trying to or maybe she didn't want to forget him. Maybe she didn't want to let go of him

Watch vidoe. For instant feels

With Hiccup 15 days later

"Son, can I talk to you?" Valka asked causing Hiccup to jump.

"Mom!..sure" Hiccup said trying to hide his latest creation of misery.

"Son are you happy with the decision you made? Ofcourse your not happy!. I am so sorry dear. It must be so hard on you but you did it because you love Astrid and you want to see her happy" Valka said.

Hiccup shook his head, "Mom the thing is that I don't love Astrid..I never loved and cared for her more than a friend. The gift she gave me was the gift of a true friend not the gift of love. So I am equally relieved by breaking up with her"

"Oh" Valka said taking it all in.

"Is there anyone else" she asked causing Hiccup to turn red.

"No no no. There is no one" Hiccup stuttered turning more red.

"Ahah so there is someone!" Valka said getting excited.

Merida

"Merida I haven't seen you all day, yesterday" Neil said and Merida slightly chuckled.

"Well my mom was trying all type of things on me. Those beauty things and all. She was driving me nuts" Merida replied,.

"Aah I see, so it means I have to beautify myself as well" Neil joked, pretending to fix his wavy brown hair.

"Neil to be honest, I think this is too rushed isn't it?" She said looking at her hands and Neal slightly looked hurt.

"Merida, we have known eachother for more than a year now. You still think this is rushed?" He asked.

"Look I didn't mean inthat way!" Merida said but Neal gave her a sad smile.

"It's ok, I just need time with myself" he said going inthe opposite direction.

"Neal why are you trying so hard, it's so clear that the stupid princess doesn't want you" Alyssa said.

Neal looked at his childhood bestfriend, "I have to try. It's for the betterment of our kingdoms. Oh I wished that girls would be much easier to understand, like you"

Alyssa grinned, her brown eyes twinkling. It was so hard for her to see her childhood love marry someone else.

19 March

The days passed like years for our young lovers but inthe end they continued their daily routine with eachother ontheir mind.

Hiccup even had this weird fantasy, he imagined he and Merida getting married twice. Once in Dunbroch and once in Berk.

His love sickness even made him forget a certain promise he made. This morning he had a feeling he was forgetting something.

His mother joined him onthe dining table, with a letter in her hand.

"We definitely need to attend the wedding in Dunbroch, it's good for our alliance. So today is the 19 and we leave tommorow. We can reach in time" she muttered to herself but Hiccup jumped in realization.

"Hiccup where are you going?" Valka called but he was long gone.

Toothless was already ready, Hiccup was about to jump on him but was stopped by Astrid.

"Hiccup don't be coward this time, tell her how you feel!. I am pretty sure you will come back with a smile and that girlfriend of yours" she grinned.

I don't hate Astrid,  she's a supportive friend in my opinion.

"How did you?" Hiccup asked confused.

"I have my ways. Now! Go!"

Merida

Unlike Hiccup,  remembered his promise. She had planned everything. She was gonna tell him ,how she felt. Her feelings were driving her crazy and her frustration had gotten the best of her and she and Neal had fought again this morning.

Merida decided she can't marry him, it was unfair for both of them. She couldn't imagine marrying anyone else beside Hiccup. This was the truth.

"Neal, please your killing me. Don't be sad." Alyssa said.

"Alyssa I need to tell you something"

Queen Eleanor was searching for her daughter. She passed her future son in law's room. Maybe Neal knows, she thought.

She was about to knock, when she heard voices.  Curiosly she the door a little to hear more clearly.

"I may marry her but remember I will always love you Alyssa" Neil said kissing her hand.

"Me too Neal" Alyssa whispered.

10 minutes

"Princess Merida you are needed" Maudie said anxiously and Merida followed her to her throne room.

"You choose a peasant over a princess" King Edward shouted at Neal

"You were gonna deceive my daughter for the rest of her life!" Eleanor shouted.

Neal was standing with Alyssa as Merida entered she asked immediately " what happened" .

Neal faced Merida with a guilty look and Alyssa immediately grabbed Neal's hand as if Merida was gonna snatch him.

"I am deeply sorry from behalf of my son, and I ready to accept any punishment from your daughter" King Edward sighed.

"Merida, I am sorry but I love Alyssa. I promise I tried loving you but it didn't work" Neal said his eyes downcast.

Merida could faint with relief," thanks Manny" she whispered.

"Neal you don't need to apologize, I am happy you told me but let me tell you something love can never be forced, it will happen inthe most unexpected time with the most unexpected person" she paused thinking about Hiccup.

"But yes you did deceive me so as a punishment you have to marry Alyssa and you have to promise me to always love her and care for her and King Edward you can't disown your son for following his heart" she said seriously but a small smile sneaking on her face.

"And Alyssa you have to promise me take care of Neal, he deserves great happiness" Merida said and Alyssa nodded gratefully.

"But about the alliance?" King Edward asked.

"The relation of our kingdom has a bond more stronger than marriage. It is the bond of friendship. I may not want to marry your son but he is and will forever stay a great friend of mine" Merida said and smiled.

Neal nodded, " My kingdom will forever be ready to help my friend's kingdom".

"What about the wedding?" Eleanor asked,.

"The wedding will be of Alyssa and Neal" Merida cheered followed by everyone else.

Everyone started to celebrate, Eleanor came to Merida.

"You have grown so wise dear, I am proud of you"

"Not wise mum, I am victim of the same battle and if you don't mind. I would like to go, he's waiting for me" Merida said running away as fast as her legs could carry her.

"Hiccup!!" Merida called looking at the sky. Her excitement killing her.

She didn't notice a outgrown root and tripped. She closed her eyes waiting for the impact.

She fell inthe fimilair arms and they wrapped around her.

"Caught you"

One year later

"Hello mi'lady" Hiccup said effortlessly climbing the window thanks to Toothless.

Merida who was currently reading jumped hearing his voice.

"Hiccup you can't see me, Tommorow is our wedding. Mum sees you. We are dead" Merida warned.

Hiccup grinned, " Muuumm!" He shouted and jumped out of the window.

"Merida you called? " Eleanor asked immediately coming inside.

"No, must be your imagination" Merida replied glancing back.

"Ok" she said leaving suspiciously.

Merida turned back to the window.

Hiccup had gone but Merida knew he was hiding somewhere.

"I hate you!!" She shouted hoping her mother won't hear.

"I hate you more" the reply came.

"I hate you the most" Merida shouted satisfied turning back to her room, her back towards the window.

"I hate, you so much,  that I know it must true love" Hiccup replied, he was sitting onthe window. His green eyes sparkling.

"What are you doing here again? " she asked.

"I forgot something" Hiccup replied.

"What?"

"My goodnight kiss" he said kissing her cheek and then jumping off again.

The end.

I hope you guys had a great time.
