it was after saying goodbye to taehyung that jeongguk noticed his book still laying on the sound next to his spot.

he sighed and carried it back to his home, only to bring it back the next day. he plopped down on his bed, he wasn't tired at all since he had napped pretty much all the afternoon.

he looked at the ceiling blankly and his only thoughts were about taehyung. he kept thinking about what if he possibly fell for the merman.

taehyung was the most wonderful person he had ever met, and yet he didn't know anything about him. he had no idea where he was from, how he was living, what he liked and what he hated.

he had no idea if it was possible for a human to go to the mermaids' world, he had no idea where it was and what it was like.

he didn't even know what taehyung really felt for him. how did love work for mermen? what did he mean by feeling funny? the boy was almost certain he felt the same as him, but he couldn't be that sure as they were both so different.

he sighed again and closed his eyes to picture the creature in his mind. he pictured his boxy smile, he had clear white teeth that looked way too pretty to be real, just like him.

he thought about how much he loved holding his hand and how much he appreciated the small contact they had when he carried him back to the water.

it took time for the merman to trust him and jeongguk knew well he didn't have his full trust yet, but he could see taehyung was getting way more comfortable around him each time they met.

he smiled to himself as he thought about their conversations, about how taehyung always wanted to know more about the human world and how much his eyes sparkled whenever jeongguk told him about his day and his life.

he fell asleep with the beautiful creature on his mind and probably dreamt about him as he didn't remember a thing in the morning.

he still had a free day since namjoon thought he would need it to get rid of the jet lag plus he didn't have any important appointments yet.

the boy did his morning routine quickly before taking his photo book of paris and leave to the beach where he would wait for taehyung to come.

he brought his phone with him and he plugged his earphones in to listen to music while he was waiting for the merman to come. he was listening to chill music and just looking around at the bright sky while laying on his back on his usual rock.

he was spacing out when he received a quite big amount of water on his face and body, way too much for it to be because of wave.

he laughed and turned around to see taehyung biting his lip hard to contain his laughter. jeongguk splashed water on him but his hand was nothing compared to taehyung big ass tail, who soaked jeongguk wet.

the merman laughed so hard he fell back in the water only to reappear and laugh as hard again. he saw jeongguk's black hair sticking to his forehead and water dripping on his face.

the boy tried to look mad but he couldn't suppress a wide smile when he heard taehyung's cute laughter. the merman swam close to him and extended his arms to brush jeongguk's long bangs away from his forehead.

he parted his hair neatly and gave it a pretty wave he loved so much, jeongguk could only focus on his eyes and sometimes his attention was traveling to his pink lips.

once taehyung was done fixing his wet hair, he cupped jeongguk's face with his large hands. the boy looked into his eyes and blushed madly at the sudden action, wondering what would happen.

but his thoughts quickly got erased when his face got squished like never before and taehyung laughed loudly again.

"you're adorable pretty human." taehyung stated and made jeongguk smile widely again. he tapped the water away from his face with his sweater paws and suddenly thought about his beloved phone.

he shot up on his knees and checked his pocket that had gotten wet too. "oh shit no no no.." he mumbled. taehyung had a concerned expression as he pushed himself up on the big rock.

jeongguk reached for his phone and kissed it when he saw it still worked perfectly. "what's wrong jeonggukie?" taehyung asked in a small voice, he thought he had done something bad.

"nothing pretty, i was just scared my phone wouldn't work anymore i have literally my whole life in there." he explained while showing the black device.

"your p-phone..?" taehyung asked and tilted his head on the side. jeongguk realized just then that he probably had no idea what a phone was so he just explained like he loved to.

"it's a device which keeps you in contact with everyone no matter where they are in the world, i can also take pictures and go on the internet, it's.. a virtual thingy with literally anything you need, i can listen to music... yeah" he explained and laid back down on his stomach to face taehyung.

"ooh.. show me!!" taehyung clapped his hands, and jeongguk obviously couldn't say no. he first just showed his lock screen and the merman was already all amazed.

his had his eyes all opened and round and his mouth forming an o shape which made jeongguk chuckle. "is that your picture?" he asked talking about jeongguk's lock screen which was a sunset pic.

the boy nodded and unlocked his phone to show him some more pictures. he went through his whole phone and explained everything to taehyung, even the maps thing and that took almost 30 minutes as he had to explain the whole geography part about the earth and the satellites, taehyung was definitely a curious one.

"take a picture of the sunset!! look it's so pretty!" taehyung exclaimed with a wide boxy smile. jeongguk positioned himself next to him with their heads almost resting on each other's.

he opened the camera and took one picture of the sunset before switching the camera and watched taehyung's face appear on the big screen.

the merman let out a small gasp and looked at jeongguk's amused face. "t-that's me!" he said and looked back at the screen.

jeongguk put them both in the frame, but he still asked if he could take a picture of taehyung. he had told him he wasn't comfortable with him bringing his camera first because he didn't know if he would reveal his existence.

but now that they knew each other a lot more the merman agreed with an adorable smile. they both smiled widely for the picture and jeongguk discreetly took some of taehyung only while he was looking around and smiling.

he went through the pictures and chose one where taehyung was laughing, his eyes in a crescent shape, to put it as wallpaper. he smiled in satisfaction and locked his phone so he could finally show taehyung some of his pictures.

"hey look, i brought that to show you." he said while opening the photo book. taehyung seemed really excited, he let out a small 'woa' before looking at all the pictures one by one.

he asked about the eiffel tower, the champs élysée, the seine, and so much more. "w-what that?" he asked with a frown on his face as he pointed to a picture.

"it's a dog!" jeongguk just said but it obviously didn't answer taehyung's question so he continued. "it's an animal which lives on earth, and humans can buy them or adopt them so they can have a family. this one is a really small one, some dogs are much bigger look!"

he explained and showed other dogs he had taken in pictures. he looked up to taehyung and so a small pout on his face. "they're so adorable..!" he cried out and looked back at the tiny black and brown dog.

"do all the humans have one?" he asked and gasped when jeongguk shook his head no and told him he didn't have animals.

"we all have an animal to protect us, but also love us. mine is a pink dolphin!" he cheered with sparkles in his eyes. jeongguk chuckled and added a small 'im not even surprised'.

they went through the album until it was pitch black, the only source of light was the sparkles in taehyung's eyes and his freckles, but it wasn't enough to look at the pictures, it was just enough for jeongguk to see his beautiful face.

"i'm going back to work tomorrow.. i won't be able to come here as early as i did today i'm sorry tae." he said and a pout immediately appeared on his pink lips.

"hey don't be sad.. i'll still come!"

"but.. we won't be able to spend time together.. at least not enough.." he said and looked down to his hands.

jeongguk's took them in his and made him look up. "hey.. i know it sucks and i would prefer to stay there with you all day long.. but i promise i'll come as soon as i finish working."

he hesitated for a few seconds before bringing taehyung's right hand to his lips and lightly kiss his knuckles.

taehyung's cheek flushed pink and lighted up so much jeongguk had to close his eyes. the boy smiled in adoration and pecked his left hand too.

"i'll see you tomorrow." he said and got up, and as always he watched until he couldn't see taehyung's tail in the water and left to his house to have a short night.

babies i'm so sorry but i really won't be able to update daily anymore.. school is taking way too long and i don't always have the inspiration to write, but i think i'll be able to update like every 3 or 4 days!
