Chapter 3
_____________Your POV____________
You had just bought a bagful of grapes, and were currently on your way to the usual spot to meet Levi.
Once you were at the usual spot to meet Levi. You placed the grapes on the ground, and sat by the tree that you sat by yesterday, and waited.
Not even five minutes later, you heard splashing, causing you to look up.
"Hey Levi." You greet him with a smile.
He just clicked his tounge, as he stared at the large pile of grapes.
"Why did you get so many, brat?" Levi asked.
"You said that you liked grapes didn't you?" You asked, tilting your head to the side.
Levi just stared at you from the water.
"Why are you so nice, when you argued with those humans at the cliff, you sounded so rude." Levi stated emotionlessly.
"Eh, so you heard that. Well, I guess when they said that the cliff was their turf, it made me quite upset." You said rubbing the back of your head, as you give a lopsided grin.
"Why?" Levi asked, raising an eyebrow.
"Ah, well, because when it comes to the natural habitat, it never really belongs to someone, they may believe that it does, but in reality it doesn't. Sounds stupid I know, but that's just the way I think." You say as you look down.
"It's not stupid, its actually true." Levi stated.
"Yeah, but to tell ya the truth, I'm not a huge fan on the human race, in fact, I'm even surprised that you decided to even show yourself to a human." You state.
Levi raised an eyebrow at what you said.
"Why would you say that, if your human yourself?" He finally asks.
"Ah, well, I guess there are multiple reasons, one can be used at the sense that humans destroy everything they touch. Humans can be greedy beings, and because of that they are easily corrupted, which is why I have never owned anything that I wouldn't give away." You say.
Levi's eyes seemed to have widen a bit, before it returned to his natural bored expression.
"What's another reason?" Levi asked.
"What?" You questioned.
"You said that was only one reason, what's another?" He asked again.
"Oh, I guess it would how people describe the word 'justice'." You say.
Levi's eyebrows scrunch together as he says, "What do you mean by that?"
"Well, think of it this way, 'A hero of justice' or 'a world where no one is hurt', don't be absurd. Humanity is the name for an animal that cannot find joy in life without sacrifice. That pretty lie equality is nonsense sprouted by weaklings who cannot look upon darkness. Nothing but an excuse to cover up life's ugliness." You say, sighing deeply.
"That's some point of view about humanity and justice." Levi said.
"Maybe, but that's something I just heard one time, and its somewhat true, but I find a contradictory meaning in that form of saying." You say, looking straight ahead, staring at nothing.
"How so?" Levi asks.
"Well, think about it. It's true human are weak, we need a form of 'hero' in this world. It gives people a false sense of security, believing that a tragedy will never happen, that is until it does. That's when the alleged 'hero' is suppose to come and save the day. I myself had this form of experience." You say smiling bitterly.
You saw that Levi had a look of shock on his face.
"What?" You asked.
"I see your point, but how did you experience a tragedy?" He asks.
"When I was around six, I fell into the ocean, and I was carried away by the strong current and waves, my father tried to save me, but he too had trouble trying to keep us above water, and then something surprising happened. A figure appeared out of no where, and saved us. Well, more accurately, saved me. My father unfortunately passed." You said.
Levi remained quiet, as you continued.
"After that experience, I'm terrified of entering the water. Even at the deep end of a pool, I start to panic." You state, looking down.
"So you were that girl I saved twenty years ago." Levi stated.
Your head snapped up, when he said this.
"What!?" You shout.
"Yeah, when I was swimming aimlessly in the ocean, I saw a man clutching onto a small child, so I tried to save the both of you. I'm sorry about your father, though." He said looking away from you.
"It's fine." You said, giving him a gentle smile.
"What?" He questions, snapping his gaze to you.
"I said its fine, besides I have no reason to blame you, after all you saved my life twice now, so that means I should be repaying you twice as much." You said chuckling.
"Tch, I don't need charity." He grumbles.
"That's funny, you haven't been complaining about all those fruits that I've been giving you." You said chuckling.
Levi stiffened as he looked away, clicking his tounge.
"Then I'm helping you to get over your fucking fear of the ocean as repayment." Levi stated before diving in the water.
But, as he dived down, you could've sworn that you saw a barely even noticeable pink hue on his cheeks.
You chuckle as you shout out "Fine, but don't expect it to be easy!"
____________Levi's POV____________
I quickly dived down, trying to hide the blush on my face, when I told the brat that I would help her to overcome her fear.
But, as I dived down, I heard the brat shout "Fine, but don't expect it to be easy!"
I let out a small smirk as I heard this.
Before continuing my way back to my cave, but before I made it inside, I was stopped by a certain human obsessed moron.
"Levi~!" The annoying voice of Hanji calls out.
"Tch, what is it?" I scowl as I cross my arms.
"I want to meet that human girl!" She shouts suddenly.
"No." I deadpan.
"But-" Before she even began, I once again interrupt her.
"No."
"Fine~." She whines, before swimming away.
I raise an eyebrow as I think, 'That was way too easy, she must be planning something.'
I then swim into my cave, making sure that everything is clean, before heading to the large pile of kelp that is to be my bed, and lay down on top of it, thinking about that human girl, until sleep got ahold of me.
