Chapter 10

____________Levi's POV____________
I land in the water with a large splash, my clothes for my lower half begin to fall as my legs begin to morph into a large tail, but a second splash soons follow a few seconds after mine.
My eyes quickly snap to the side, and I saw (F/N).
A dark liquid flowing from her shoulder, and into the water, before evaporating.
I quickly gather up the clothes that fell off my body, and I swam as quickly as I could over to her.
I scanned over her still form, a small smile plays on her lips, as her eyes are peacefully shut, as if she were merely sleeping.
I quickly grab her around the waist, and brought her to the surface of the water.
But, I didn't hear her gasp out like a living person should do.
I feel my heart begin to pound in my ears, which causes a hot ringing in my ears to block out any noise.
I look up at the cliff, and noticed that the three people that were trying to take me away were no longer there.
But, I brush it off, and start to swim to the meeting place that (F/N) and I would always meet at.
I quickly place (F/N) on the bank of the shore, before jumping out myself.
I quickly pull on my pants, before rushing over to (F/N)'s side.
I look at her wound, and that didn't help me feel any better about the situation.
The wound seemed deep, and the crimson blood flowing out of it seemed endless.
But, I soon snapped out of checking her wounds, and realized something.
She wasn't breathing.
When I realized this, my own heart stopped for a second.
But, I shook my head, clearing my thoughts for the moment.
I first checked her pulse on her wrist, but I found none.
Becoming a bit flustered at this point, I pressed my two fingers to her neck, hoping to find at least a faint pulse, but also found none.
Gulping down my siliva harshly, I leaned my head down to her chest, praying to some higher being, that I have never believed in, to let her have some sort of pulse.
Just anything that would prove that the woman laying before me, is still alive.
But, the only thing that I could hear, were my ragged breaths coming from my own breaking form.
I slowly leaned back up, not believing what is going on before me.
My hands were shaking violently, as I place them on her chest.
I then slowly pressed my body weight onto them.
The chest compressions started out slow and well composed, but they soon became quick and uneven.
I began to become even more paniced as I realized that she still wasn't responding to it.
I gently tilted her chin upwards, before opening her mouth slightly.
I quickly placed my lips over hers, unsettled by how cold they were, then from the kiss that happened only moments ago.
But, I merely brushed the thought off as I pushed air into her lungs, before repeating the chest compressions.
After about five minutes of doing this, I felt a hand shaking my shoulder.
I snap my head over, and saw Hanji yelling at me, while tears stream down her face.
I couldn't make out the words she said, or rather couldn't hear her say anything, only a ringing in my ears that wouldn't stop.
But, that was when I felt my head snap to the side, my left cheek burning, and was most likely turning red now.
"I said you have to stop now! She's gone!" Hanji screeched as she gripped my shoulders tighter.
My pupils dilate as I try and process the words that I just heard.
I grit my teeth together as I turn around, and resumed my position of doing chest compressions.
"Don't be stupid, I'm sure if I try a little harder, she'll-" but before I could continue, I felt arms wrap themselves around me.
"I'm sorry, I'm so sorry, Levi. But, she's gone, she isn't coming back." Hanji said, her voice becoming even more strained as she repeats the words, she herself, don't want to admit.
"No, no, its not true." I mutter, as I tilt my head down, my bangs covering my eyes, as I grit my teeth tighter together.
"She......made a promise......to come back." I say, as flashbacks of all the times she would bring different types of fruits or sushi here, or the times she would laugh as I try not to smirk at her childish antics.
"I....refuse to...to-" I couldn't finish the sentence as I kept my gaze down.
My eyes stung as I felt something drip down onto the ground below.
"Levi....are you-" Hanji didn't finish that sentence, as I let out a silent sob, that came out more of a harsh pant.
I slowly collapsed to the ground, as I stare at the petite woman, laying on the ground only a few feet away from my.
I clenched my hands, before slamming them repeatedly on the ground, letting out heart wrenching screams.
I don't know how long I stayed in that position, but all I know is that I screamed until my voice grew hoarse, and I could no longer speak.
After I was done, I just sat there, crouched over, finally coming to terms with what was happening.
___________Hanji's POV___________
I just stared at the broken man before me, trying to find some way to comfort him.
But, at this point, even I knew that no words could soothe his aching heart.
All I could do was watch as the once emotionless man before me, start to slowly unravel.
But, that was when a sudden realization came to me.
"Levi." I call out gently.
He looked up at me, and I was taken aback by what I saw.
His eyes that usually held a bored look to them, were utterly dead.
As if his very own being was ripped out of his body, leaving nothing but a husk of a being.
I quickly recomposed myself as I say, "There may be a way to bring her back."
As I say this, I could see just a bit of life return to those dead eyes.
"What....do you mean?" He asks, his voice hoarse from screaming.
"Remember the legend about Saisei." I say calmly.
"Tch, that's just some stupid legend." Levi hisses, not even bothering to look at me in the eyes.
"What if I say it isn't, and that I know where Saisei is." I say, and before I know it, I felt something gripping at the collar of my shirt.
"Where!?" Levi hisses dangerously low.
"I'll show you, just bring (F/N) along, it might not be too late to save her." I say, before I grab Levi's hands, and pushed them off.
I then jump back into the water, reverting to my original form, and soon enough, a second splash was heard, and I turned to see Levi hold (F/N) tightly in his arms.
'Even though he, himself, doesn't know, he really cares for that girl.' I think as I stare solemnly at the two, before swimming off to find Saisei.
