Eternity
"I-A-N-T-H-E," someone called my name. I was too exhausted to open my eyelids. But I recognized the voice.
"Ambrose," I called out hoarsely.
I was getting to see the person I love for one last time.
"Ianthe, I have your pills." he said.
He dropped the pill into my mouth and soon I could breathe again. I was gasping and choking, both from the returning air and from the tears in my eyes.
I hugged him tightly crying wordlessly.
"Shhh, it's okay," he comforted. "You are safe now."
Suddenly realization flooded into me and with it came the fear.
"Ambrose, how did you know about the pills? I never told you," a chill ran down my spine, "How much do you know about me?"
"Not much," another voice spoke out startling me.
"Aalton?" the words came out as a question.
He appeared in his human form, grinning from ear to ear.
"Thanks for saving my best friend, bro," he mock punched Ambrose.
"You saved my love," he replied shyly as they high-fived.
"What the hell is happening here? Could anyone please explain," I screamed.
"Yes Ma'am," both spoke out in unison, annoying me no ends.
"When you didn't show up at the party, I set out to search for you," Ambrose began, "And I came to the sea shore and called out to Aalton. He gave me those pills to take along, just in case you were stranded somewhere without them."
"Wait, what? You know Aalton?"
"Yup, I had seen you the other night, while I was searching for a store to buy some blood. So I followed you and had seen you talking to him. So I knew immediately that you were a mermaid too like him."
"You were searching for blood,' I couldn't believe my own ears, "What are you?"
"I am a vampire," his gorgeous brown eyes glowed ruby for a minute before coming to normal again.
"And you damned girl never told me you are dating Ambrose. He is perfectly fine. Much better than a human. We met when I had come to the human world before," commented Aalton.
"A-M-B-R-O-S-E, 'immortal' in old Greek, I should have realized. It's such an old fashioned name," I pursed my lips.
"You have a lot to know about the dangers of the human world, my lady," Ambrose said in his velvety voice, "I have been seeing it for the past 100 years."
"You know what, I hate humans. I am so glad that you are not one of those killers," I embraced him.
"I am not too sure though, as how you will be received in our community," he warned.
"We could, you know sign a treaty... be friends, the vamp and the merworld," commented Aalton.
"Anything for her," Ambrose pressed his cold lips to mine and soon I was immersed in the heart of his desires, entwining me in the snares of love.
As I kissed him back, all the nerves in my body lit up in expectations. My body wanted something from him, the craving which I had never felt in the past years seemed to smother me completely.
We broke away by Aalton clearing his throat, "Could we please leave the hospital before clothes start coming off?"
I blushed and he lifted my chin and kissed my forehead one last time before we left the place hand in hand, with Aalton tagging along.
