I slowly got out of the car, locking the doors behind me. Relief looked like it had washed over Ariel's face once she saw it was me, but that was quickly replaced by a look I couldn't decipher. It was almost like she looked as if she would kill me, yet, she wouldn't.

I didn't have any words to describe how I felt at that very moment because well, just the way her hair flowed behind her and the way her eyes sparkled within the sunlight, I just didn't know how to feel. That was when I noticed her hair.

Yes, I had been staring at it before, but I just now realized the color of it was different. Instead of the blonde it was when I had first seen her, it was now a dark red, exactly like Ariel's.

This girl was literally starting to be more and more like the mermaid every time I saw her, and this was only the second time.

"Niall!" Ariel shouted, finally stopping in front of me. "I seriously thought you'd be a better driver!" She scolded me, poking me in the chest with her index finger.

I rose my eyebrows at the girl, seriously questioning her actions. "Well, I would have been a better driver if someone hadn't pulled into my spot at the last moment."

I could sense Ariel getting madder by the second, and I honestly hadn't meant to get her mad. Oh god, I seriously didn't know how to do anything pertaining to girls.

"Your spot? Niall, this a public pool, so it isn't your spot at all. God, you're making it seem like we're a couple when in reality all you are is a stupid boy."

All the negativity that had been thrown at me throughout my life seemed to have risen from the depths of my memory just at that moment, and I couldn't help but remember the nights when I would hear my mum crying herself to sleep, r the harsh words at school that were constantly being said to me.

I don't think Ariella meant to cause this much damage in her one little sentence, but it hurt.

It hurt so much that I didn't even give her a second glance when I got in my car and drove away, not knowing where I was going, but just knowing I wanted to get away from there.
