Morgana x Guinevere #1

I thought I'd make the next one shot a little more intense. I sadly don't own Merlin.

Synopsis:  Morgana realizes that after Gwen took her place (in the episode Lancelot and Guinevere) that she has feelings for the serving girl. View is 3rd person.

The Lady Morgana was pacing back and forth in her chambers, worried sick about her handmaiden, Guinevere. Gwen was her most trusted maid, and also a friend of Morgana's. Arthur and Merlin were both setting off alone to go and retrieve her from the grasp of Hengist. She only hoped and prayed to the gods that all three of them would come home safely.

The day went by painfully slow. And Morgana's anxiety didn't help things at all. Gwen was all she could think about. She missed her friend. But is she more than just a friend? Came the thought into the mind of the King's Ward. There were other maids that were assisting her today, but not a single one of them was her Gwen. They didn't have beautiful brown eyes that held nothing but loyalty, honesty and friendship in them. They didn't have skilled hands that could make any hair look as beautiful as that of a goddess. They didn't address her by her first name or show concern for her wellbeing. No. They didn't have anything in common with Gwen.

As Morgana finished dressing, she sat by the window of her chambers. She could look out at the citadel for days on end and never move—she needed to see Guinevere. Gwen was strong, intelligent, and also very high-spirited. Morgana trusted Gwen with her life. She could go to Gwen for anything. But a life without the woman? Unfathomable. Unacceptable. A life Morgana wished to never live. But why did she care so much? As Uther once told Arthur, he could find another servant. Morgana could find another maid. But she wouldn't be my Gwen, Morgana said to herself. That's when the wheels turned in her head. She dawned on the realization and mumbled these words to herself:  "I'm in love with Guinevere."

By nightfall, she still hadn't moved. Arthur and Merlin had yet to return with her maid. And she was getting even more worried by the minute. She hoped that her worst fears didn't come to light; she had to have hope that they'd get to Gwen in time. Even after taking the sleeping draught that Gaius gave her, she worried for Gwen. She had no desire nor an appetite for breakfast in the morning. Her friend was still missing! Round midday, she looked up to see Merlin. "Merlin?" She asked, hoping this wasn't some cruel dream. The young warlock had a bright smile on his face. "There's someone here to see you," he said and stepped aside to reveal Gwen.

Morgana felt so much joy and happiness overtake her. "Gwen!" She said embracing the young woman in a hug. "Morgana." Gwen said softly, making the woman's heart skip a beat. She looked at Merlin thankfully and then watched as he left to go trail after Arthur. Morgana cupped Gwen's face in her hands. "Are you Alright? Are you hurt?" She asked. "No, my lady. I'm fine. Thanks to Arthur, Merlin and Lancelot." She said thankfully. "I don't know what I would've done if I'd lost you," Morgana said softly. "I'm fine, Morgana. Honestly." Gwen said. As if on instinct, Morgana pressed her lips to Gwen's swiftly, removing them just as quickly. "I-I'm sorry if I've disgusted or offended you in any way, Guinevere." She said looking down.

Gwen just smiled and gave a chuckle. "Actually...I was hoping you'd do that," she admitted, making Morgana smile once more. "Really?" She asked. "How could I not fall for Camelot's favorite daughter?" Gwen said cheekily, making Morgana laugh elatedly. She had her Gwen back. And now they could be happy.

The End
