"Lamia. My name is Lamia."
Y/N didn't trust the little girl one bit. Neither did Merlin and Gwen. But the Knights sure took a liking to the girl. Including Y/N's beloved betrothed, Sir Leon. Y/N was a bit jealous about how attentive Leon was to this complete stranger. True, Lamia was just a girl, but still, watching her betrothed trail after her like a lost puppy seemed utterly preposterous.
"Is it just me, or have they all lost their bloody minds?" Y/N spoke softly to both Merlin and Gwen. "No it's not just you. They're acting very different," Gwen admitted. "I've never seen them act like this before." Merlin added. Y/N saw that Leon was quiet, which puzzled her. He always had at least something to say. She made her way over to him, placing a gentle hand on his shoulder. "Are you alright, Leon? You seem...conflicted. Should I be worried?" She asked softly. Leon turned to face her. "You needn't worry, darling. I feel fine," he promised with a small smile and a kiss to her head. A smile crept onto her face as she hugged him. She was inevitably lucky.
Just then, a shrill scream was heard, and Y/N saw a dangerous look in Leon's eyes. "Dear, it's alright. Lamia was just frightened," she reassured him. He gave her a cold look. "Merlin should learn to keep his hands off of her then," he snapped, which confused the h/c girl before him. "Leon, what's gotten into you? Are you sure everything is alright?" She asked with her arms crossed over her chest. "Yes, Y/N, everything's fine. Now if you'll please excuse me," he said before striding over to Percival and Lamia.
She saw how the other knights would act between themselves and Lamia. It seemed odd. Why would they change just so suddenly? Gwen placed a hand on her friend's shoulder. "You're worries about Leon, aren't you?" She asked. "Gwen, he's never acted like this. And never towards me. He sounds so cold and cruel. Something's wrong; Leon never acts like that. Ever," Y/N explained. "Well hopefully things will settle down in the morning. Let's get some rest," Gwen advised. Y/N nodded and got her things, preparing for bed.
As she settled, Y/N glanced over at Leon, who was idly poking at the fire with a stick. "Love...you should get some rest," she suggested. "I'm not tired," came his reply. Y/N frowned. "Leon, you must sleep." She tried again. "And what if something happens to Lamia?" He snapped. "There's three other knights, as well as Merlin, myself and Gwen. Lamia will be well protected. Now please, sleep. You know how you are when you don't sleep," she pleaded. Leon's blue eyes looked into her e/c ones, but it felt as if Leon was fighting something inside.
"I will sleep when Elyan takes over my shift. Now for God's sake, Y/N, leave me be and just sleep!" He said sharply, which deeply hurt his betrothed's feelings. "Goodnight then, Sir Leon." She said before turning her back to him, closing her eyes. She was not happy with the change in him, and she was going to do everything in her power to appeal to his better nature the next day. She didn't want to have him snap at her again.
- The next morning -
Y/N woke up to hearing Leon searching for someone. "Merlin, what's going on?" She asked. "Elyan's missing." He answered, making the woman stand up. "Where could he have gone? Elyan!" She called, looking around for Gwen's brother. She walked a bit away and found Elyan unconscious. "Elyan! Oh God, Elyan, please don't be dead." She prayed as she checked for a pulse. He still had one, which made her exhale a breath of relief. She helped him up as best she could, and practically carried him to their campsite. "Gwen! I found Elyan. It looks like he might've been attacked by something," she said. Gwen rushed to Y/N's side, helping her with Elyan.

Y/N watched as Lamia mounted Merlin's horse, and glanced over to Gwen, who was walking her horse with Elyan on the saddle. She rode at the back of the group, knowing that Leon could snap at her in a minute's notice. She was called to his side sometime through the journey to take Lamia home, and she had her horse trot up to Leon's.
"You called me, Sir Leon?" She asked curtly. She was trying to appeal to his better nature, now sensing Lamia has the knights under some sort of enchantment. "I did. When we arrive at the castle, someone needs to make a fire for Lamia and Elyan," he instructed. "Yes, sire, I will help assist in making the fire," she answered in a more feeble tone. This new Leon made her afraid to just speak to him. "And...I hope you know your place," he spoke. She was at her cracking point. "My...my place?" She asked.
"Y/N, you have been having these ridiculous outbursts since we saved Lamia. And it is not very appreciated. I suggest you think before you speak. We may be betrothed, but I am still a knight, and you have no right to speak to me with such disrespect," he explained. He'd done it. He finally pushed her. "You're right. I have no right to speak to someone with such disrespect. But I have a right to be angry, and I am furious with you. You've been so hostile towards myself, Merlin, and Gwen. It's not appreciated; I'm absolutely offended how you address me. I may be nothing more than a mere commoner, but I do not tolerate disrespect. You've disrespected me, hurt my feelings, and have been rude towards me." She ranted.
"Y/N, you will hold your tongue," he hissed. "I thought I knew you, Leon. Apparently, I was wrong. You obviously don't love me. Take your bloody ring back," she said with tears in her eyes as she took her necklace off and shoved the ring on the necklace into his hands. Tears ran down her cheeks as she fell back to the rear of the group.

After Arthur had come to their aid, they retreated back to the village where the illness had occurred. It was really Lamia; she'd put the men in danger. Elyan, Percival, Gwaine and Leon laid in a hut, resting. But Leon was restless. Gwen had informed him that Y/N was upset with him, and told him what he'd said to her. He felt so guilty and heartbroken; he'd caused her anguish and pain. He felt unworthy of being a knight; he failed to be loyal to his own beloved. "I want to see her. Where is she?" He asked softly.
"Leon, I don't think that's best," Gwen murmured softly. "Guinevere...I need to see her. I have to apologize and amend my mistakes. I love her; she's the woman I wish to marry. I need her to see that. Please," he begged. Gwen caved in with a sigh. "She's talking with Merlin in the next hut to the right." The maid answered. "Thank you," he said as he gripped the wall for support to walk. He was still a little weak, but he could care less.
He made it to the hut, and knocked on the door. He was face to face with Merlin, who had an angry look on his face. "You shouldn't be here. You broke her heart," he hissed. "Merlin, I see that. I understand. Please let me in. I want to make it right with her. Y/N is my love. Just let me see her." He begged. Merlin sighed gently. "Fine. But please make her happy again," he requested, to which the knight nodded. He carefully walked into the hut, seeing Y/N sitting on a bed.
"Y/N?" He asked as he sat in front of her. She didn't look up. "Y/N...Gwen told me what I said to you, and what you did. To tell you the truth, I barely remember the last three days. I know that being under Lamia's enchantment is no excuse, but I know my words deeply hurt you.
I wish to take back the things I said, but I know I cannot. But you should know that never would I have ever said those things to you. I could never say such things to you. I love you, and I'm deeply sorry for the woe I've caused you. If you don't want to marry, I understand. But it pains me to know I failed you. I failed you and I hurt you. And I can never forgive myself for it," he said in tears. He got no response as he stood up, making his way to the door.
"Leon...please don't leave," croaked Y/N. He slowly made his way to the bed, sitting next to her. "I can never tell you how sorry I am for what you've been through, my darling. I will spend the rest of my life fixing this mistake," he promised. "There's no need. You fixed it. And...I still want to marry you. I know it wasn't really you, but the words still hurt. But you came to apologize, and I accept it. I love you; please don't let me go ever again," she sobbed into his chest. He held her close, kissing her head as he slipped the necklace back on her. "I'm never letting go again, love," he promised.
And from that day on, he kept his word. He was an even better man because of Y/N.
