The Offer continued 1
Continuation of the offer.
It's almost been five years now. Then I have the choice to stay or return to Camelot. I really don't know what I want to do after this. I've helped a lot in Aldden, I've nearly mastered my magic, and everyone here respects me.
Being court warlock was a unique experience, half the time I could do whatever I wished, and the other half I'd be helping Stan plan, helping out in random jobs around the kingdom, and being hassled like the king normally would. I'd hatched three Dragon eggs, killed two evil sorcerers, and even started training to become a knight. It's been weird.
Along the five years I'd met Morgana and made peace with her. She simply wanted to know why I did what I did. When I explained she understood, and we became friends again. Our friendship was not the same as it had been, but we bonded over our magical similarities.
She of course never found out I was Emrys, I made sure of that. Unfortunately in my third year here, there was a magical accident where I told her to get something from a cave. I hadn't realized there was a group of Griffins in there and they killed her. It was my fault. Just as the prophecy foretold.
Besides that, it was a fairly good learning experience. Well as good as it could be with Marietta constantly at my side flirting. It became annoying. I didn't have the guts to tell her I was gay though. Then she'd just try to pair me with one of her gay friends. It was extremely annoying.
Not as annoying as a certain dallop head back in Camelot. I missed him. I understand why he chose what he did. He truly believed magic would harm the kingdom. It had always been the good of the kingdom over emotions. (I don't even have to say the name, and you already know who I'm talking about)
Although, i'd heard a few rumours that he had nearly died a few times. I honestly wasn't surprised.
I left Gwaine a note to protect him for me while I was gone and promised to come back to Camelot one day. Actually, I was planning on visiting in about a week. The five years was finally over. Well in a few days anyway.
Although, I'd heard a few rumours that he had nearly died a few times. I honestly wasn't surprised.
A few days before I planned to leave I sent Gwaine a letter letting him know that I'd be back in a few days time. It most likely had arrived today.
Suddenly Stan came running into my chambers. "Merlin! I have horrid news! A large army is attacking Camelot and I fear they cannot survive it without your support! You must leave now!"
"What about the deal? I had to stay for five years and I still have a week left!" I shouted rather shocked.
"Deal smeal. This is more important. As long as you come visit. Now get your stuff and go!" With this I started getting ready. "I'll get the your ride ready for you Merlin."
"Stan wait," I stopped him. "Thank you for everything. Hopefully I'll see you soon, depending on how much the prat needs me." My last sentence caused Stan to chuckle.
"It is I who should be thanking you. You've done much for this kingdom Merlin. Now hurry!"
What to pack what to pack? Minimum amount of clothing, throw on some chainmail, need my sword of course. Some food for the journey, and a small spell book I've made for battles. Oh! Can't forget my Neckerchief! I grabbed my now full bag and ran, barely realizing my shoes were on the wrong sides. At the moment that didn't matter. What did matter was Arthur.
Finally I got to the cliff side where me and Stan trained the dragons together.
"Calixto is ready Merlin. Good luck." Stan pointed to the sky blue dragon stretching, and I raced to her neck. She 'gracefully' allowed me to board her. Then the rush of adrenaline was back. The view was wonderful as always, but I had other things to think about. Was this a magical army? How large of a threat were they? These thoughts continued until I got to my destination. Camelot.
The Army was not a magical one, but the size was far too much for Camelot's unprepared knights. This was quite obvious as the army flooded the land in front of the castle.
Calixto was nearly invisible in the sky due to her colour, but sometimes her clumsiness, or her shadow would give her away. At the moment she was nearing adulthood, and her clumsiness was slowly fading as she adjusted to her new size. Being the oldest was the main reason she was chosen for things like this. Her fire was also the hottest, while her hide was the toughest.
I commanded Calixto to near Camelot, then go back to scorch the army. Never allow yourself to get hurt, but do damage, I spoke these words as a Dragon Lord would.
As we came close to Camelot, I found where the knights were. I could see a man ahead of the rest, and knew it was Arthur. So I jumped. Calixto had expected this, as I had done it before.
Falling was the worst. Seeing the ground closing in on you was rather unnerving. Closer, and closer. I was about forty metres up when the knights noticed me. Thirty metres. Twenty metres. Too close! I mutter spell that slows my speed a lot. Somehow I managed to do a nice landing on my feet.
"Who are you?" Leon asks from the other end of his sword.
I sigh. I knew the training I'd been doing had changed me a lot, but I thought they could still recognize me with my newfound muscle and strange clothing.
"I'm Aldden's backup. The alliance has got great benefits." I say cheekily.
Arthur looks at me funny. "Do I know you?"
"Yes you do, but right now is not the time for reintroductions pra-" I stop myself, he doesn't need to know yet.
"Well what are you supposed to do? You're just one man!" Elyan countered.
"Yes a man with a Dragon, stay away from the left and the back to avoid a flame induced death. Most of the Army is on the left, but Calixto will cover it."
"Calixto?" Gwaine questioned.
I smirked, "yes you tavern loving fool, the dragon. Now let's go." I ran off before I could see their shocked faces.
With my small build, and my newer muscle, I was faster then the heavily muscled knights, yet Prince prat, or should I say king, was somehow keeping up. Looks like he still felt the need to lead.
From then on it was a rather quick battle. Calixto scorching nine tenths of the Army, while we fought the rest. I used many spells rather obviously and took down about three quarters of the remaining army on my own. The rest was taken over by the knights.
Calixto was rather exhausted so she went to a safe place to rest for a while. That left me with my old friends who led me back into the castle. They seemed surprised they won, but nevertheless happy.
Of course Gwaine was the first one to talk to me. "So, sir sorcerer, what is your name?"
"I'm a warlock actually, and I'm sure you'll figure out my name rather quickly. The prat on the other hand might take a while." My words caused Gwaine to gasp and look me over.
"It can't be..."
I sigh, "I sent you a letter, did you receive it?" Gwaine nodds. "Did you warn Gaius to prevent a heart attack?" Once again Gwaine nodded. "You need proof it's me don't you?" Nod. "Okay, we met in a bar fight, you helped me prove that the 'knights' were attempting to kill Arthur, and then you were banished by Uther. Need more proo-" apparently he did not need more proof because Gwaine was now hugging me.
"Its been so long! You've changed so much! You must tell me everything that happened over the last few years!" Gwaine began to ramble before a few knights shushed him.
They were now in the empty throne room.
Arthur had turned to me, "Alright knight of Aldden, what does Aldden want in return for this victory?"
"The kingdom." Arthur turned ghostly white at my words. "Nah I'm just kidding." This caused Arthur along with a few others to take a breath of relief.
Then I continued, "honestly, they want nothing. They've earned and lost nothing from this battle, so why would it matter?" I paused and continued, "but maybe you'll have a place for me somewhere in the castle. Like as your servant." I began to hint. I saw the pang of guilt and pain cross over his face before it went back to neutral.
"I'm no scrawny, annoying kid anymore, but I could still do it." Confusion crossed pretty much all the knights faces at this point. Sigh. Time for larger hints.
"Maybe I can move back in with Gaius if he's okay with that." Leon, Percival and a few other knights gasped. Gwaine was on the side with a smug look.
"Who are you?" Arthur asked dominantly and seemingly rather pissed.
With a bored look I decide to see if he'll figure it out better if I insult him, "you know who I am, but you're being too much of a clot pole to realize it."
Then Arthur gasped. I really wonder how he survived these past five years without me. Suddenly I was a teddy bear and Arthur was crying on my favorite shirt.
"I'm soo sorry Merlin, I made the wrong choice, I should've chosen you!" He sobbed, "that was the worst decision of my life! Could you ever forgive me?" I brought him back into a hug.
"Already have clot pole, already have."
Immma end it right there, but in case you want to know what happens (my version anyway):
Merlin becomes part time court warlock for Arthur once he let Magic back into the kingdom, and part time Arthur's servant. He was also a knight. Well he was Arthur's servant until they married of course.
The clot pole became the best king and blah blah blah.
Gwaine married ale when drunk. Then later found a girl that loved drinking more then he did, and could fight nearly as good. They married and had two children who knew not the meaning of patience and drove their parents up the wall.
Leon somehow died in battle. (He's not immortal despite what you may think.)
Percival had enough of Gwaine's horrid jokes and habits, and eventually left for Aldden to strengthen his magic.
Elyan found a nice girl and settled. Eventually he retired.
And the rest you can figure out yourself.
