Pen Pals

Please read to understand chapter.

Merlin has been in a program called Pen Pals since he arrived in Camelot. The program is organized by one man, he brings your anonymous Pen Pal's letter every month, and two weeks later, you have to give your response to the letter back to the man. Everyone knows the man. His name is Brom. Anyway, Merlin has a Pen Pal that he has been writing to for ages. In his letters he's explained his magic, what he's been doing for his master(Arthur), and how hectic his life has become. (In the letters you're not allowed to say names, places, or dates) You also had to use code names instead of your normal name. Brom goes to many kingdoms, and takes letters from many. There's literally no telling who your pen pal is.

..............

Dear Asher

This Month had been hectic. I saved my master from yet another assassin. I must say, they are getting worse and worse at their jobs. All I had to do for this one was bash him on the head with a flower pot, and drag him out towards the door. Somehow no one caught me dragging a large burly man out of our kingdom. (It may have a little to do with my magic.)

You know what I got for saving him? Chores, and insults. He always thinks I'm at the tavern when I'm really out risking my life to save his! I wish he could be as understanding as you Asher.

Responding to your question in the last letter, I'm not sure what you should do if you're into guys, and your father will be angered if he ever found out. I don't know your father. Most are rather understanding if you tell them the truth. Perhaps ask him a 'metaphorical' question, and see what he truly thinks.

I really can't help you with your problems with your father. I only knew mine for a few days. He died of a sword to his stomach. I could have said a simple spell, and saved him, but my master was there. Sadly I had to watch him die if I was to fullfill the destiny the Dragon told me of.

Enough about me, have you told that lucky man of your emotions for him? I believe it is only fair to him, and yourself if he knows. I already told you of my feelings for my master, and I simply cannot act on it due to my status. You on the other hand have the chance.

Good luck,

Robin

..............................

After finishing Merlin gave it to Brom. Who was in town at the moment. Sometimes when Merlin gave it earlier, he could receive a letter within three days.

It seems this time he was lucky.

..............

Dear Robin,

I cannot find the confidence to tell either my father, or the man. I'm such a coward.

Although, I did do the 'metaphorical' question thing you told me of. I found out that my father would want to disown me.

Unfortunately I feel the man I like is drifting away. He seems less... Himself. His normal quirky self seems to be fading slightly. He's been more mature, which is even more agitating then not doing his job right.

Hopefully one day your master will realize how much you've done for him. Maybe you should try to tell him of your magic?

I apologize for the loss of your father. You lose a lot of people don't you? First the woman you love, you nearly lose your master, then your mother, and then you nearly lose your mentor due to that sorceress with that cup you told me about. Then you lose your father. You must feel incredibly lonely. Then you have to hide your magic from your friends for fear of death.  Yet you somehow continue all your chores while saving your master. How do you survive under all the stress?

This month I've been under a lot of pressure to be the man my father wants me to be. He wishes for me to marry a girl. This way we can make an alliance, and hopefully get a heir. Although, that is not what I wish. I don't want a child, let alone a wife.

I must say Robin, I'm impressed. You snook up on a man with a flower pot... And knocked him out... Strange, but effective.

Have you been strength training every morning, and asked someone to teach you how to fight with a sword like I told you?

Good luck,

Asher.

..........................

Merlin read over the letter with a smile. He enjoyed the responses. Quickly, after writing another letter, he ran to find Brom. He was on his way out of the kingdom. Brom smiled, took the letter and went on his way.

Waiting always was hard for Merlin. He knew it would take a little under a month for the next response. So everyday he busied himself, hoping to forget about it, so he wouldn't torture himself with waiting as much.

Today he had been working late in Arthur's chamber's when Brom entered.

"Oh, Merlin, there you are. I was just looking for you. I've got a letter for you, and one for Arthur." Brom handed both Arthur, and Merlin a letter.

When he handed Arthur his letter, Merlin recognized his own writing. Only then did he realize that Arthur's writing was on his own. All these years, Merlin had never realized that it was Arthur's writing on his letters. Merlin felt so stupid. So idiotic.

"Hey Merlin, you should read yours out loud, and I'll read mine out loud. Deal?"

Merlin was already unusually pale as it was without Arthur's suggestion. The suggestion just made him look deathly pale, with wide eyes.

"Oh come on Merlin, your conversations can't be that bad!" Arthur grabbed Merlin's letter swiftly, and opened it without looking. Pulling the letter out, he looked down and found his own writing.

"You- you're... Robin?"

Nodding, he more told himself then asked Arthur, " and you're Asher..."

This caused silence for a while. They were thinking over all the things that they had said in the letters, and connecting them to the person sat in front of them.

So, Merlin had magic and liked Arthur...

Uther was trying to find Arthur a princess, while he liked Merlin.

This was going to be interesting.

Not planning on continuing this chapter unless I get enough comments asking me to.
