Morgana's Misplaced Memories
I've been looking for a book I found on wattpad, it's about Merlin being taken to another kingdom by sorcerers for a magical type of hunger games in a different kingdom. If anyone knows the name of a book like this, please comment. Thanks!
Random photo I found.
That would be me if I ever had the chance to be on set.
Somehow Merlin had knocked out Morgana. She had attacked Camelot again, and Merlin had hit her on the back of her head with a frying pan. Let me say that again. A frying pan.
One of Camelot's knights was about to stab her with his sword when she had awoken. She'd screamed, and begged Arthur for help. The person she'd become would not do that. In fact, the person she'd become would rather glare and fight then beg. The past her on the other hand, would. A glimpse of the old Morgana sparked a hope in Arthur, so he had stopped the knight's blow with his own sword.
"Morgana?" He asked.
"How- how did I, did I get- get- get here?" She stuttered and shook with fear.
"What do you remember?" At the moment, Arthur saw the girl he grew up with, not his enemy.
"Well we defeated the anfanc about a month ago..."
Turns out she still was the old Morgana. She'd lost all memory of everything that turned her evil. So Arthur took her home. I mean what else could he do? Kill the innocent Morgana or take her home. Hopefully she would not regain her memories.
..............
It had been a full month since Morgana had returned. She'd heard that she was gone for a few years, but not much else. Uther was dead. Although, no one could tell if she was happy or sad about that. Showing no signs of her new, cold self, Arthur was starting to trust her, and let her roam on her own without a guard.
By now everything had gone back to normal. Well as normal as it could be with Arthur as king, Morgana as his ward, and Gwenivere gone with Lancelot. (Lancelot never died, Gwen chose him, Arthur realized he was never in love with her, it was just a crush.) Merlin was the main similarity left for Morgana and Arthur.
Somehow Merlin acted like he was trying to keep distance between himself and Lady Morgana. It didn't matter how much he tried to hide it, because everyone who was there before Morgana went rogue could notice the difference.
The usually happy go lucky boy they knew disappeared around Morgana. Instead he took on a rather regal persona. The boy showed her respect. That worried Arthur. Merlin showed no one true respect... Well except Lady Morgana at the moment.
Lately the counsel meetings had been private. Not even servants were allowed in. So when Arthur admitted that he had been thinking about letting magic back into the kingdom, Merlin had dropped his pitcher of water beside Arthur's bed.
"Wha-what?" Merlin stuttered.
Arthur gave him a look that said 'are you daft?' and told Merlin again. "I'm trying to get the counsel to agree to letting magic back into the kingdom. What are your thoughts on that Merlin?"
Merlin shut his gaping mouth, and replied with, " that's great sire, how likely is it that the counsel will agree?" At the moment Merlin was too dazed to be excited.
"Well if magic is allowed in the kingdom, Morgana won't go bad, and we'll get a larger population... So we're now divided into two parts of the counsel. The ones who wish for magic to return, and those who stand by Uther's ways." Arthur sighed and continued, "the half that stands by Uther's ways would like to see one sorcerer that has good intentions besides druids. Then they agree that we will allow magic back into the kingdom."
Once again Merlin was shocked. Arthur wanted magic back in the kingdom. This was also an ideal time to tell Arthur about his magic...
"Um, Sire?"
"Yes Merlin?" Arthur asked in a bored tone.
"What would you say if I told you I had magic?" An anxious Merlin questioned.
This caused Arthur to chuckle. "The same thing I told you when you were protecting Gwen. You have a mental illness."
"No, what if I actually had magic, and you believed me?"
This question made Arthur show an annoyed and bored expression. "I guess I'd be a little hurt that you never told me. Other than that... Nothing really. Maybe I'd just want to be alone for a bit." Thinking over the question, he decided to ask, "why?"
There was an extremely long, awkward silence. It was filled with a bit of Merlin's shuffling, before he blurted out, "ihavemagici'mawarlocki'msorryinevertoldyou."
"I didn't understand a word of that Merlin."
So Merlin took a deep breath and repeated himself. "I have magic, I'm a warlock, I'm sorry I never told you."
"Very funny Merlin, but I should really get back to work."
This made Merlin groan. "How can I prove it to you?"
"Do magic I guess... But you don't have magic, I would've noticed." Arthur obliviously stated.
"And you won't arrest me if I do magic right?" A nodd came from Arthur. So he grabbed three apples from the table. He threw all three in the air and stopped them from falling. He then made them fly in circles as if he was juggling them without his arms. When Merlin looked back at the clot pole, he had an awestruck look plastered on his face. "Need more proof?"
Shaking his head no, he looked at Merlin with a mixture of fear and awe. "How long have you been practicing magic?"
"I was born with it." Merlin muttered.
"But that's not possible! You have to practice magic to become a sorcerer..."
"Well I'm not a sorcerer. I'm a warlock. There's a difference. Sorcerers practice magic to get better, while Warlocks are born with it and have used it since birth," Merlin explained.
Arthur attempted to understand what Merlin had just told him. In the meantime he asked, "why did you come to Camelot? It's literally the worst place you could have gone."
At this Merlin shrugged not totally sure himself. " My mom told me Gaius would help me, so I came here."
Nodding, Arthur remembered one more thing. "All those jokes about saving my life... We're you actually serious?"
"Yes..." Merlin paused. "I've saved you so many times I've lost count. A lot of the time, I lost things or people I loved. Yet I saw you needed at least one person to always stand by you." Looking at an exhausted Arthur, he decided this conversation could wait. "How about we talk about this tomorrow? You need your beauty rest. Maybe it'll make your favourite old shirt fit better."
"Did you just call me fat?"
"You said it, not me."
...............
Months after Merlin's magic confession, magic was now legal. Gaius was teaching Morgana simple spells, and things had been peaceful... Until today.
At the moment Cendred had a pair of magic restraining cuffs stuck on Merlin's wrists, while Arthur was on his knees with Cendred's sword at his neck. All hope seemed lost.
Well it seemed that way anyway. Up until Morgana strolled forward with an annoyed look.
"Hello Cendred move away from my brother please. No one threatens my brother and gets away with their lives except me."
Thinking the rumours of Morgana's lost memory were true, he laughed. "And what's a little girl like you going to do? You don't remember meeting your sister morguase nor do you remember how to use the magic you possess. So there's no-" he was thrown backwards by Morgana before he could finish.
"Funny thing is, I remember. I haven't told anyone because I didn't want to be kicked out of my home. Arthur has become a just king, and you will not be the death of him!" Morgana then muttered a spell, and Cendred was reduced to mere ashes in seconds. Then the rest of Cendred's men followed. Now it looked like there had been a large fire that hadn't affected the floor or the walls.
"Well that was eventful," Merlin muttered beside Arthur.
...............
It seemed everything would go back to how it was when Merlin first got to Camelot.
A Pendragon as king. Merlin as Arthur's servant. Gwenivere had returned to serve Lady Morgana. The only thing they were missing was Utter. But they weren't necessarily missing him. You know what I mean?
Although there was one main difference besides Uther gone. Merlin. Before he seemed to hide himself with his joking manner. He still joked a lot, but he seemed more open. Not needing to hide who he was must have helped a lot. Everyone had noticed.
Being around Merlin just made your day better. If his jokes didn't make you laugh, then he would use his magic in some goofy way to make you giggle like a teenage girl.
It seemed that with Merlin in a good mood, everyone else was happy too. That's what Merlin was. Happy. After all this time, he found a place where he didn't have to hide, and it made him ecstatic.
Arthur on the other hand was slightly grumpy. Mostly because he would see Merlin less. With him becoming Court Warlock, he'd had less time for Arthur.
A young servant had just told Merlin he'd been summoned by the king. Neither the servant nor Merlin seemed to know why. So a grinning Merlin skipped down the hallway.
Screak. Opening the door as slowly as possible to make a louder noise. This usually annoyed Arthur. Today Arthur was too busy pacing to notice. Softly Merlin coughed. The prat didn't notice. Merlin coughed significantly louder. It seemed the dallop head was now deaf. So Merlin coughed as loud as he could. Arthur jumped.
"Merlin you scared me!" Arthur nearly shouted.
Snickering, Merlin told him, "well you were too oblivious to notice my clumsy presense. If it were an assassin who came in you'd be dead right now."
"Well it wasn't so I'm still alive and need to talk to you."
"Alright, so what do you wish to speak to me about sire?" Merlin asked while cheekily grinning thinking out the two possibilities why he was here. In all honesty he didn't mind either. He was slightly hoping for one more then the other though.
For a moment Arthur looked to the ground before he gathered his courage. "Well you see... With your increased absences, I've started to realize how much... You mean to me, and I was going to ask something completely absurd... You probably won't accept, but... I'm going to ask anyway... I want you to be more then just a friend... And-"
Before Arthur could finish Merlin kissed him.
"Yes, of course I want to be more then just a friend. You may be an annoying, oblivious, pompous prat, but you're my annoying, oblivious, pompous prat."
.
The ending could've been better, but I haven't updated in a while, so I just thought that would be okay for now.
