Memory loss is a bitch

Where am I?
How did I get here?
Who am I?

These questions, and more, swirled around my mind as I found myself standing in a unfamiliar room.

Voices chatted up and down behind the front door some quiet, some loud, but never stopping and going inside.

"Merlin, what have I told you? You have to be careful, someone will find out and then there won't be any way for me to stop them." An voice scolded someone apparently named Merlin. Nice name.

Wait, what was my name?

"I know, I know Gaius, but no one saw me." This Merlin Answered this Gaius.

These two people walked through the opening door and stopped when they saw me.

My heart stopped for a second at the younger of the two.

He was about my age, if not a year older, and had scruffy shortish long black raven coloured hair and wore an red  neckerchief around his neck (surprise, surprise).

But that was stopped when my vision went black and I heard a voice say "Born of magic, named after bird, one man has a large destiny, his name, Merlin" I then saw how he nearly dies and him then in floods of tears crying and then my vision went back to normal, I was in the unfamiliar, familiar room with the two people looking at me again.

Casting my eyes away from Merlin, I concentrated on looking at the eldest of the two. Gaius as I presumed. He was old looking (still no surprise there) and had long grey/ white hair and looked at me with a frown of annoyance.

"What are you doing here?" Gaius asked me first, his arms now folded.

"I..... errrr........" I couldn't speak. Quick! Think of something to say! They stood their waiting for me to speak. "Help?" I said awkwardly said. Great job, now they'll wanna know why I need their help.

"With what?" Gaius asked.

Told ya. Say something else truthful. I thought. "I err.... found myself here a couple minutes ago before you came, I can't remember anything."

"Ok. Have you banged you head?" Gaius asked me.

"I told you. I don't remember anything. As in, my entire life I have no clue about." I told him.

Merlin snickered behind Gaius quietly.

"Why do you find it funny?" I frowned at him as Gaius walked behind me and felt my head.

"How can someone lose their entire life's memories?" Merlin said trying to keep a straight face.

"Let me get my memories back and I can tell you." I said. "Ow!!" I yelped afterwards when Gaius hit me. "What was that for?!!" I looked at him.

"I was checking that you felt pain." Gaius told me.

"And why would you need that information?" I asked resisting the urge to hold my head.

"Because I found no bumps or dents in your head. I was just checking that you could feel pain and would tell me if you felt it."

"Right..."

"Merlin! Where are you!!!" I heard an furious yell, yell down the corridor outside the room.

"Merlin!" It was getting closer.

Merlin looked around and began to mix herbs. "If he asks, I'm helping Gaius help you." He told me.

The door was once again opened, this time very fiercely, and there stood a knight in armor. (If I said shining armor, then that would mean I'd have a crush on him and I most certainly didn't have one on him.)

"Merlin! There you are! Your supposed to of helped me out with putting my armor on!" This person yelled at him.

"Hey!" I raised my voice as I was going towards this knight.

"What is it m'lady?" The knight asked seeing me for the first time.

"Don't m'lady me mister! And why the hell was you yelling at Merlin for? Who do you think you are?!! Someone who can boss people around like you rule them?!" I yelled.

"Well, actually" he smirked.

"Don't you smirk at me!" I slapped his cheek with my hand.

Merlin snorted and Gaius quietly held his breath. I knew instantly that I'd done something terribly wrong.

The knight turned back slowly to face me, spitting some blood out his mouth before he did.

"Do you want to know who I am? I'm Arthur Pendragon, your Prince." The knight said.

My eyes widened but I couldn't back down now. It would show I was a coward. "Well Prince Arthur Pendragon, you still shouldn't boss people about like that." Somehow, though I knew there was a reason behind it, if only I had my memories, I felt very strongly against his behavior. "And as your a Prince, then Your Highness should not be finding it funny or amusing that your a Prince of this country. It is a role and a responsibility that is the most important, and respected job that anyone can have. You should be learning everything you can from your father's wisdom because one day he'll die and it'll be you who's leading the country. So do that instead of strutting like a peacock and telling people what to do because you can." I finished and gulped in some air from my starving lungs for a few seconds staring at him boldly.

There was clapping at the door and I saw a person at the door slowly clapping. He wore a crown and had a look of loss and wisdom about him.

"King Uther." Merlin and Gaius bowed as they spoke. I bowed as well quickly.

"Very well said My Lady, however, I cannot allow you to get away with hitting my son just like that. GUARDS!" He yelled.

"Wait sire!" Gaius said quickly.

"What is it Gaius?" Uther asked.

"This lady sire is here for treatment. She has unfortunately sire, lost her memory for the time being." Gaius told him.

"And she somehow managed to get to your chambers to you." Uther didn't look believed.

"No sire, I found myself in this chamber a couple minutes before they came in." I told him defending him.

"And what would your advice be for this memory loss Gaius?" Uther asked.

"I would say that she most probably won't get her memory back for some time, if not at all" (very depressing thought there ) "but I would say that she needs to be near me or Merlin so we can keep an eye on her." Gaius said quietly to him.

"Well, that's made my mind up, thank you Gaius. My Lady, what is your name?" Uther asked me.

I swallowed closing my eyes. What was my name? I asked myself again.

I suddenly pictured a star on its own in the night sky.
"Star...."
Then I saw a fire, wait no, it was too small for a fire. A flame perhaps? Yes, that seemed more likely.
"..... Flame.."
Wait, that's two words. Starflame. "That's my name, Starflame." I said grinning. I remembered my name!

"Well, Starflame, until your memory has returned, you'll become a servant for my son and will work with Merlin. Merlin, you'll show Starflame how to work and how to behave and talk to Arthur, and Arthur, now you've got two servants for the time being, you shouldn't have to complain that Merlin is taking too long to do a job for you." Uther told us three.

"Gaius, while she still works, she is still your patient and so she'll live here." Uther finished.

"Yes My Lord" Gaius bowed.

Uther then walked out the chambers and the two guards that came in followed him.

"Your as bad Merlin Starflame" Gaius sighed at me.

"Come you two." Arthur said as he walked out the room. "Your going to help me practice fighting."

Merlin groaned in what I called unhappiness, but trudged behind him.

I looked at Gaius and he coughed and used his head to message, "go on then!" To me.

Sighing as well I went after them. This was going to be fun. Not.
