Anddd...we all knew it was coming.

Summary: I think we can guess from the title, honestly.

     Merlin held Rose and they rode on Kilgharrah, Merlin urging him to go faster so they could get back to Misthaven quicker.
     Rose was incredibly weak now and Merlin worried they wouldn't make it.
     Finally, blessedly, they reached the gates. A bunch of servants came running out the gate to take her.
     One of them- who appeared to be blind -asked what happened. Merlin simply told her that Rose was dying and needed to find Karayan.
     The blind servant gave Merlin a look as if she could see him and knew what was in his heart. Then she simply nodded and carted Rose off.
     The gates closed in his face.

     Rose was taken directly to Karayan. He was in a meeting with the council when Rose came stumbling in and fell into his arms.
     "Rose, what happened?"
     "She needs your help, sire. She is in a bad way."
     Karayan ordered everyone out of the room so that Rose could explain. After Rose explained, Karayan realized what he needed to do.
      "True love's kiss?" He leaned in to kiss her before pulling back. Rose looked at him in confusion and he smirked. "Oh Rose, if only there was someone out there who loved you."
      (Me: Bro, I will ruin your life just for that.)
     "What? But I thought you loved me?"
     Karayan laughed a short bark of a laugh. "You really believed that?" He laughed again. "'Oh I find your nervousness and awkwardness adorable.' And you believed me? What a naive princess you are, darling!"
     "Why? Why did you-?"
     "I was the youngest and my brothers don't respect me. I want to be king! So...I set out a plan. Originally, I would've gone for your sister but she was just so...closed off. But not you. You were so sick of being alone that you missed all the signs. You were gonna marry me just like that!
     "And now....now I can put my plan in action. You see....your sister really messed up when she revealed her magic. And when the kingdom finds out that she was the cause of your death well....they'll side with me. I'll kill her and become king of this kingdom."
     "I'm not dead!"
     "Oh but you will be soon. Darkness overcomes the heart faster than any poison. Why, now it's already making you feel nothing but anger and pain."
     "You'll never win! You can't even find Regina!"
    "Why she's here now. In the dungeon where she rightfully belongs." At Rose's look, he added, "Oh! Would you like to know how I got her? Sure. Let it be the last thing you hear."

     *Flashback to a few days ago*
     After Rose had been gone a few days with no word on when and if she would ever make it back, Karayan decided to lead a search party after her.
     He assumed she'd be dead at this point. If so, they'd mourn for a time and he'd find a way to be king. Instead, she was alive which made things easier.
     Anyway, they'd found no sign of her. They'd made it all the way to the top of the North Mountain. Karayan sent in the guards ahead and he, the duke, and the duke's two guards went in after.
     They fought Regina who kept running away from them. Eventually, Karayan knocked her out with a sleeping powder. They'd taken her back to Misthaven and locked her up.
     Karayan was just discussing what to do with her to the council when Rose unexpectedly showed up.
              *End flashback***
 
     "And, so, now all that's left is to leave you to die in this room, rile up the kingdom to kill Regina, and then I'll be king!"
     "You're a monster!"
     "Am I a monster? Am I a criminal? Am I a war hero? Whatever I was means nothing! I never had a chance to prove myself! But now, now I shall be a hero! I defeated the Evil Queen!"
     "Regina is not evil! You are!"
      Karayan raised an eyebrow.  "Wasn't it your own father who declared magic is evil? And so I will go down in history as the man who defeated the Evil Queen.
     "Sure there will be some collateral damage. After all, I feel we had something going on. Not love but I did find you rather....beautiful.
     "Nevertheless, you will join mummy and daddy dearest soon. Oh, and that reminds me! Your sainted parents were going to find a way to rid Regina of her magic!
     "But you shouldn't be angry with them because guess who convinced them to do it? Guess who told them to go into the eye of the storm? And guess who caused their untimely demise?
     "Yours truly, love.
     "And I honestly will miss you but I have to leave. Rest in peace, darling."
     He strolled towards the door and Rose found the strength to yell, "You won't get away with this!"
     Karayan paused at the door, turned to Rose, and with a smirk, said, "I already have!"
     Then he slammed the door, leaving Rose to die.
                          * * * * *
     Karayan composed himself before entering the council room. He made himself look upset and distraught, even letting a few tears escape for good measure.
     The council was waiting patiently when he entered. "What happened?"
     "She's gone." He let a few more tears escape. "Rose and I barely had time to exchange our vows before she died in my arms."
     The leader of the council spoke up, "Are you aware what this means? With Regina's betrayal and you being married to Rose, you are now the king." Suddenly, all the council members bowed down before Karayan. "Milord, we await your orders."
     "Then, I have no choice. I hereby charge Regina with treason and murder and sentence her to death."
     At that moment, an explosion rocked the castle. "What was that?!"

     Everything that happened while Karayan was with the council happened in very quick succession.
     First, Regina woke up in the dungeon. She panicked, causing her restraints to pop off and she blew a hole in the wall and escaped.
     The explosion rocked the castle, sending Karayan and the council out to see what happened. By then, Regina was long gone into the storm.
     Rose felt the explosion but couldn't move. Suddenly, the door was blasted open by the blind servant, Nyx, who it turns out has magic.
     Rose is only able to force out three words, "Karayan betrayed us," before fainting.
     Nyx scooped up Rose and transformed into a dragon as she raced off to bring Rose to her real true love: Merlin.
     Merlin was in the woods when he heard the explosion. Quickly growing worried, he knew it wasn't good.
     "Rose!"
     He hopped on Kilgharrah and took off into the sky to find her.
     So now we have an entourage of people running about in the storm Regina had created....
