Merida POV

I was walking through the halls with my best friends Jack and Rapunzel when a firm hand grips my shoulder and spins me around. Astrid, my bully, and her gang stand in front of me, glaring at me as if I am their prey - which I probably am.

"What do you want Astrid!" I hiss, gritting my teeth.

"Hmmm," she says taking one hand off my shoulder but keeping a firm grip on my other one. "I don't know, maybe Fishlegs remembers." she says indicating to the fat guy of their gang.

"Yes indeed I remember," he says smirking at me, "we were just going to beat up the three geeks and steal their glasses." I feel Astrid's grip tighten again on my shoulders before being slammed into the lockers behind me. On either side of me I see Snotlout pinning Jack to the lockers and Ruffnut doing the same to Rapunzel.

"Let go of me!" I yell, tossing and turning to slide out of her grip. I was unsuccessful.

"And why should I do that?" Astrid smirked at me.

I open my mouth to say something but Jack cuts in before I can. "Why don't you pick on someone else?" he asks "what about the kid down there?" He indicates to his left by nodding.

The gang looks in his direction as do I. A boy, not much taller than me, with wonky glasses and a leg in a bandage is walking cautiously down the corridor. It's hard to make out who he is as my vision has gone slightly blurry. He holds a pile of books to his chest and looks at his shoes as he walks. Astrid heaves an irritated sigh.

"Very well." she says. Her grip leaves my shoulders as me, Rapunzel and Jack slump on the floor. "But don't think we're not gonna beat you up after him!" And with that, they make their way to the boy.

I rub my eyes to prevent my vision from being blurry and turn my attention back to the boy. Oh no! I think to myself. "You idiot Jack!" I yell at him punching him hard in the arm.

"Ow!" he complains.

"That's Hic you idiot!" I shout at him, gesturing to the gang's next victim.

His face immediately drops "oops," he says "my bad."

"We have to do something," Rapunzel announces, panicking.

"There's no time to think! Just do!" I order. They both nod quickly before getting up and racing towards the gang. I felt a strength inside me I'd never felt before that made me feel powerful compared to the populars.

Without thinking, I grab Astrid forcefully by the shoulders and pin her against the wall. Jack and Rapunzel do the same to Ruffnut and Snotlout. Tuffnut and Fishlegs pause for a moment before heading back in the direction of Hiccup. I glance at Jack who nods. We slip our feet behind us causing Tuffnut and Fishlegs to topple over.

They try to get up but someone stands on their hands. I look up to see Hiccup keeping the two bullies on the floor as we all smile triumphantly at each other. However, that moment ended when a strict voice bellows down the corridor "Merida DunBroch! Jack Frost! Rapunzel Corona! Hiccup Haddock!" we turn to see Mr.Hercules striding toward us. "I'm surprised in you! We expect better from you!" I can feel Astrid smiling widely as I loosen my grip on her. "Detention! The four of you!" he says handing us a pink slip of paper and marching off.

"Looks like the goody two shoes have got themselves a detention." Astrid mocks.

"Shut it Astrid," I hiss through gritted teeth. "Come on Hic, Jack, Punz. Lets go."

"Yeah! That's right, run away!" Snotlout yells back at us nervously.

"What exactly did you do to him Jack?" I ask as we get out of their earshot.

"You don't wanna know," Hiccup says from behind me. I turn round to see a disgusted look on his face.

"Ok then," I say slowly.

We go to the canteen and order our food before sitting down at our usual table.

"So why were they after me?" Hiccup asks after a few minutes of silence. Mine and Punzie's eyes immediately go to Jack as he gulps.

"It might have been my fault," he says nervously "I was trying to get them off us and didn't realise it was you. Sorry mate."

"It's ok, but how didn't you recognise one of your best friends?" Hiccup asks.

Jack opens his mouth to say something but I interrupt. "I don't know about Jack or Punz but my eyes went really blurry. I couldn't recognise you; it was almost impossible to see."

Punz and Jack nod in agreement as they pick at their lunch.

"Well," Punz starts, taking out the pink slip from her pocket, "now that that's sorted. When's our detention?"

"Ugh!" I complain as I place my head in my hands "I forgot about that!"

"Today, Afterschool, 3:15- 4:00" Punz says as she reads the detention slip.

"Well I guess I'll see you guys after school then," Jack says whilst rising from the table. "I've got geography, you know how Mrs.Jane hates us being late."

"True, see ya then!" I say waving as he walks out of the canteen and down the corridor. I check my watch. 5 minutes to the bell. "Come on Hic," I say as I collect my belongings "we have French now."

"Great!" he says sarcastically before following my lead and packing his bag. "What have you got Punz?"

"Geography," she says, her face dropping. "ugh! I could've gone when Jack did! I'm gonna be late!" she yells, grabbing her bag and racing out of the canteen.

"Ok then," I say. "To French."

After my lessons end, I make my way to the gym where Mr.Hercules will be supervising our detention. Mr.Hercules is the P.E teacher so his given room is the gym.

I open the door and notice Jack and Punzie are already seated at their desks. "Hello Miss.DunBroch," Mr.Hercules greets. "Please take a seat in front of Miss.Corona or Master.Frost."

I take the seat in front of Jack and immediately lock my eyes on the clock. That's strange. Hiccup should be here by now; one more minute and he'll be late!

5 minutes pass and still no sign of Hiccup. I start to get restless and worried.

"Where's Master.Hiccup?" Mr.Hercules asks, lifting his head from his desk.

"I don't know, sir," I reply truthfully "he isn't usually late and he wouldn't dare be late for a detention for no good reason."

He just nods and turns back to his work.

"What do you think happened to Hic?" I hear Jack whisper from behind me.

"I don't know," I answer "but it can't be good."

"Stop being so negative you two!" Rapunzel hisses "he's going to be f-" she gets interrupted by someone stumbling through the double doors. Hiccup! His blazer buttons are undone and his shirt has a small hole in it. His tie is messy and around his eye I notice a black-purple circle.

"You're late Master.Haddock!" Mr.Hercules states, not looking up from his desk.

"Y-yes," Hiccup stutters "Sorry sir."

I look at him worriedly as he takes the seat beside me.

"What in Hell's name happened to you?" I whisper in a concerned yet demanding tone.

"I-I-I'll tell you later," he stutters. "Not when Mr.Hercules is here." I notice his hands are trembling and several bruises and scratches can be seen on his wrists. I give Jack and Punzie and confused and worried look only to receive the same back.

The double doors Hiccup entered through open revealing Mrs.Tiana with a flustered look on her face. "Yes Mrs Tiana?" Mr.Hercules asks, rising from his chair.

"We need your help to calm down rampaging students." she replies breathlessly. He immediately rushes to the door.

"Don't you dare go anywhere!" he threatens us before sprinting out of the door. When I'm sure he's gone I turn to Hiccup, as do Rapunzel and Jack.

"I'll ask you again, Hic. What the Hell happened to you!" I look at him with a concerned expression as I await his answer.

"A-astrid," he mumbles making my blood boil.

"What did she do?" Punz asks.

"What does it look like?" Hic asks as he gestures to himself.

"They beat you up?" Jack asks guiltily.

"Well done Sherlock! It's probably your fault he was their victim in the first place!" I yell. "Come on Hic," I say whilst rising from my seat.

"Where are you going?" Punzie asks nervously.

"To the medical room. Hic needs to be treated quickly." I reply.

"No way!" Hiccup says waving his hands in front of him. "There is absolutely no way I'm gonna get into more trouble with Mr.Hercules!"

"Too bad! I'm taking you to the medical room and that's that!" I snap. I turn to Jack "If Mr.Hercules comes back, tell him where we are."

"Aye aye captain!" he says giving me a small salute.

Hiccup and I make our way out of the doors and down the corridor.

"You're going to get into loads of trouble for doing this." he says after a few minutes if silence. "Not just by Mr.Hercules but by Astrid as well."

"At the moment I don't care one bit about Astrid," I hiss "you're in need of medical help before they can do anything else to you." After that he was silent until we arrive at the medical room. I open the door and we walk in getting greeted by the school nurse.

"And what might you be here for?" she asks. I simply have to point to Hiccup for her to usher him to the medical bed while I perch on the chair next to him. The nurse opens the freezer and takes out an ice pack "Here," she says, extending her arm to give me the ice pack. "Press it gently on his eye." she goes back to the cupboards.

I turn back to Hiccup and slowly places the ice against his eye. "Hold it there," I tell him. He nods and places his hand over the pack. The nurse comes back with a smallish black screen hooked up to all sorts of wires.

"I'm just going to ask you to stand up and walk past the x-ray so we can check for any broken bones." She says. Hiccup swings his legs over the side of the bed and lowers his feet to the floor. Once they come in contact with the plain flooring he winces; I'm at his side in an instant. We struggle across the room, with his arm over my shoulder, to the x-ray where the nurse waits for us. "Your girlfriend can't help you through the x-ray I'm afraid so you'll have to try to get through it by yourself."

"Girlfriend?" Hiccup and I say in unison.

"Oh!" the nurse says looking at us "sorry but you act a lot like a young couple." This makes both of us blush.

I let go of Hiccup and allow him to stumble through the x-ray before catching him as he trips at the end.

"Ok, you can lay down again now." the nurse says. I guide Hiccup back to the medical bed and sit back in the bedside chair. He picks up the ice pack from the table beside him and places it on his eye.

I turn away from him and see the nurse at a computer, looking at what looks like Hiccup's bones. As I do this, something cold nips my neck making me flinch and turn around swiftly. I see Hiccup with a grin on his face with his hand on my neck. His hand can't be that cold! I think to myself. My hand makes its way to my neck and I feel the ice pack there.

"Hey!" I complain "stop!" This just makes him chuckle but doesn't make him stop. "Seriously Hic!" I giggle involuntarily. "Put that back on your eye Hic before I get frostbite!"

He removes the ice from my neck and places it back on his eye. "Do you think we're gonna get in trouble with Mr.Hercules?" he asks nervously.

"Of course not," I assure him, placing my hand gently on his shoulder. "The nurse can tell him what happened if we do."

"Ok I've inspected the x-ray and it looks like your friend here has a sprained ankle." the nurse informs "We'll have to bandage it up but you should be out of here in an hour or so with the help of some crutches."

"Thanks," Hiccup sighs.

"I'll just go get the bandages," she says exiting the room entirely.

"Mer?" Hiccup whispers.

"Yeah?"

"Thanks."

"No problem and by the way, there's no need to whisper." I chuckle.

"Ok," he whispers "I-I-I'm gonna try something. Stop me if you want to but please, just give it a chance."

"Er... ok," I stutter honestly scared of what he was thinking of doing. His hand holds the back of my neck making me flinch slightly but relax immediately after. I feel goose bumps erupt from the skin on my neck and my cheeks take a crimson tone as I stare into his forest eyes. A slight pressure is felt on my neck, pulling me in his direction at a slow pace; but as nervous as I am, I let it. The pressure stops when our noses are just a few millimetres away from each other. He takes a deep breath before gently closing the space between us by pressing his lips to mine. My hands place themselves on his back whilst his are on my back and neck keeping us close.

After what seems like infinite years, the door opens, but I don't let that stop me. I don't want anything to ruin this moment. Eventually Hiccup pulls away with a wide grin spread upon his lips. "Maybe you don't want me to tell Mr.Hercules exactly what happened," a voice from behind us chuckles. We turn around to see the nurse smirking at us holding a bundle of bandages in her arms. "Ok it won't be long until you and your friend can leave."

"Girlfriend," Hiccup corrects. I whip around with an expression of confusion spread across my face. He just grins and places a hand on my knee. I give him a light, gentle smile back.

"Wow!" the nurse exclaims whilst bandaging Hiccup's ankle and foot up. "That happened fast. What exactly happened when I was gone?"

"It went a little bit like this," Hiccup says. He places his hand behind my neck again and begins pulling me to him like before. However, this time I knew what was happening and acted on it by moving my face towards him and planting my lips on his.

We break apart a lot quicker than before as the nurse was staring at us with a little smirk creeping onto her lips. "I see," she chuckles "you and your girlfriend can leave now." I help Hiccup off of the medical bed and hand him a pair of crutches. We walk out of the medical room and down the corridor, grinning like complete idiots.

"Maybe I owe Astrid one," I sigh.

"We owe her nothing but a good beating!" Hiccup declares.

"I like the sound of that!"

A/n ok so so so sorry for the late update but I've been busy.

Also I'm going away for a few days (31st August- 3rd September) I will be sure to keep writing but I won't be able to publish it much as I won't be spending all of my time next to the wifi.

Anyway, illegals will be updated soon and sorry for the wait on that one too.

For now, it's goodbye.
