Radio Rebel
Merida DunBroch walked the halls of Slam! fm studios. In just 24 hours she'd be broadcasting her very first professional radio show. It was much more complicated than her usual broadcasting at home, that's for sure.
She looked down at her hands; her fingers locked together anxiously as her thumbs twiddled in a steady yet shaky rhythm. If she messed this up her step-dad, the manager of Slam! fm, would think of her as a pile of cow crap. Not to mention her broadcasting career would never again see the light of day. No pressure.
She wasn't looking where she was going; eyes on her shoes, hands clasped nervously, feet trudging across the floor. She didn't notice the equally occupied young boy coming toward her.
You can probably hazard a guess at what happened next but I'll tell you anyways.
The two collided. A tornado of the young boy's papers swarmed around them before settling on the floor. Their faces flush.
"Sorry." they mutter in unison, bending down to pick up the mass of strewn papers. In doing so, their foreheads crashed together. "Ow!" their hands reach up to their bruised heads in pain.
"I'm sorry." the young boy apologises, his piercing green eyes full, pleading forgiveness.
She smiles lightly back at him "don't worry about it. It was my fault. I wasn't watching where I was going."
The boy bends down again and gathers the papers together, Merida helps him. In a matter of minutes the two manage to pick all the papers up and pile them neatly. The two rise.
"Hiccup" the boy says, pushing his free hand towards her.
"Merida," she smiles and shakes it. "I'd best be off. I've got a tour of my broadcasting studio soon." She waves goodbye and speeds down the corridor, constantly thinking about the boy with the piercing green eyes.

The next day came quickly. Too quickly. In no time at all Merida was waiting for her studio assistant to arrive. He hadn't made it to the tour yesterday due to his busy schedule but she didn't mind.
The door creeped open revealing a pair of haunting green eyes. It was him. The boy she'd met in the corridor. It was Hiccup.
"Hey Merida!" he greets "I wouldn't have thought you were the famous radio rebel."
She smiles "Nice to see ya too Hiccup. I don't know whether to feel complimented or insulted." the two laugh.
"Complimented," Hiccup finally says. An awkward silence settles across the room. "So...?"
"So..." Merida sighs while searching desperately for something to say to break the unwanted silence.
She looked into his eyes and laughed. "What?" Hiccup questions, a small smile forming on his lips. "Why are you laughing."
She stops "I like your smile." she whispers nervously, looking down at her interlocking hands. He sits beside her and places his hand on hers.
"Well I also like you."
A/n Haven't published a one shot in quite some time so decided to write this one. This is based on the film 'Radio Rebel'. Hope you liked it and see ya soon.
