Hiccup's P.O.V
I snuggled into my scarf that was tied around my neck and pulled my benie closer over my ears. I took a sip of my black coffee, just as I liked it, warming my whole body. It was freezing. Why did I ever agree to take my classes in Scotland?!? I doubted Berk was any warmer, but I'd be warming up with my friends from back home.
I had originally jumped at the idea of transfering colleges, so I could get my art degree at one of the best schools. If I had know how cold it would be in the fall, I would have never come. Imagine the winters! Good God, they'll be awful!
I walked faster to the bus stop and got on the warm vehicle.I wish I had my own car, I would have to stand in the cold every day.
Strangely, my arm was still cold and it felt like someone was dragging a feather on it. Confused, I carefully rolled up my sleeve. Paint was swirling all over my arm, greens, blues, reds, all coming together to paint a forest on my arm. I stared in awe. It was beautiful. I loved art, and I guess so did my soulmate. Could they be in class with me?
I kept my sleeve rolled up as I got off the bus, I didn't want to ruin it. I no longer cared how cold it was outside, or how the cold air practicly burned my skin. The last thing I wanted to do was to destroy it's perfection.
I sat down at a table with my best friend, Jack Frost. The cold never really bothered him and he laughed at me when I sat down.
"Seriously Hic? You that cold? Such a baby." He said, playfully sticking out his tongue.
"Shut up Jack, it's below freezing out there. And I blame you for that f*ck face."
"Just like I blame you when it hails, Berk-boy!" He shot back with his signature crooked grin.
I couldn't help but grin back. Jack's smile was extremely contagious, stupid f*cker.
Rapunzel and Merida, my other best friends sat behind us, giggling away at something. Jack leans back and crookedly smiles at Rapunzel. She chuckled and gave him a peck. He reached over and grabbed a purple marker, and drew it over her face.
"Jack! You cheeky little snowball!!" She scolded, still smiling.
The same purple line appeared on Jack's face. "Still worth it."
She was his soulmate, they had known since before I transferred. I was happy for them, and it was extremely funny to 'couple fight', as Merida called it.
Speak of the devil, Merida looked at me with a smile that made my heart melt. "Anything new with ya, Hic?"
"Not really Mer. But this did show up on my arm this morning. Isn't it incredible?" I asked tracing my finger around it carefully.
I've never seen Jack and Rapunzel look so excited before in my whole life as Merida's face turned as red as her hair. Her eletric blue eyes widened. She opened her mouth to respond, when the teacher interrupted her, telling us to get to work.
I turned around and started sketch Toothless, my dog. Rapunzel was whispering to Merida and Jack couldn't stop grinning and glancing at me with a wicked look on his face.
"What's with that face?" I asked, raising an eyebrow.
"What? My face? My face is the face of innocence!" He said, looking shocked.
"Riiiggghhttt. What's up with them?" I asked, gesturing to the girls. Merida was shushing Rapunzel who was desperately trying to get my attention.
"I dunno. Try asking." He returned to his drawing, and I rolled my eyes. I turned around to lock eyes with Merida. I thought I saw her blush, just before she his in her curly red hair.
I looked at Rapunzel for an explanation, but all I got was a grin and her pointing at the purple streak on her face.
Why is everyone so confusing today??
.oO0Oo.
I stepped into the cold air to walk to the bus stop. The coldness hit my almost bare arm at full force. I stood under the small roof, waiting for the warm bus to roll around the corner.
Suddenly, someone grabbed my hand and I whipped around to lock my green eyes with electric blue ones once again. She still had on her paint stained jeans, with her gray coat and army boots. Her other hand was shoved in her pocket to keep it from freezing.
"God Merida! You're freezing!" I wrapped my scarf around her neck and stared into her eyes again. There was a lot of eye contact happening right then and I wasn't sure if I liked it or loved it.
"Thanks Hic." She said smiling. "Ok, so I didn't get to tell you in first block, and it took me all day just to muster up the courage to do this so I guess I should just show you."
My green eyes widened in shock as she pulled up her sleeve to show the same painting on her arm as I had on mine. I took a double take, blinking. A wave of feeling crashed over me. A mix of everything, really.
I looked back up at Merida, a small smile on her beautiful face. I didn't know what to do, I was frozen in place.
I took a step forward, grabbing her face in my hands and pulled her lips to mine. I felt fireworks go off in my brain and joy fill my body as she kissed me back, deepening it.
We pulled away, breathing heavily. I never let go of her, and she held on to my arms.
"I wouldn't mind doing that again." She said breathlessly.
"Same here." I replied with a grin.
