Take that, fuckers

THE TEAM got out of the car, and Daisy right away saw Edwin who pointed to her, saying, "There — There she is." Both him and the cop he was talking to, walked up to her.

"And who are you, now?" The cop questioned, looking down at her.

She gave the cop a forced smile. "Daisy Johnson, ATCU." She looked to Edwin, "Um, Edwin, right? How did you know my name, Edwin, when you called 911?"

"Because I heard you say it just now," he told her which confused her to no end.

She furrowed her eyebrows, "Uh... what are you saying?"

"I-I saw this," he stuttered out.

She glanced to Lincoln who was only a few feet away from her, his face full of concern, and then she turned back to Edwin, "You saw what?"

"This moment," he stuttered out, "Talking to you, the — the cops — all of it."

Daisy shook her head, eyebrows still furrowed. "I'm — I'm sorry. I'm not following."

"Charles." Edwin gestured to the alleyway. "The crazy homeless guy who lives in the alley he — he put — must have put a curse on me or something. He made me see this. I — I saw this."

Coulson gave her a concerned look before saying, "I'm gonna go check it out." She nodded at him and he walked awat

"You got to get me out of here before they come and kill me," Edwin begged me, his hands finding her jacket, and he started gripping it tightly.

"Oh, okay, okay." She grabbed his jacket, trying to calm him down. "We will protect you. But how did you know that it was Hydra who's coming?"

"Because that's what she'll yell when they come out of the sky."

Just then, a plane came over their heads and May yelled out, "Hydra!" Gunshots were then fired.

"Go!" Daisy shouted, pushing both of their bodies behind a police car just as an explosion was heard behind them. She ducked, pushing both hers and Edwin's heads down for protection when more gunshots were then heard.

"Help! Save me, please!" Edwin gasped out to her as she tried to figure out what was going on.

"Don't worry. I'll get you out of this. Just lay low for a second," Daisy ordered him, looking around frantically.

"We're running out of time. Daisy... this is where I die." Gunshots were heard, then he fell to the ground, a bullet wound on his shoulder, and a couple through his stomach.

"No!" She shouted, crawling to his side, her hands shakily touching his chest, "No!" She looked up to see Coulson standing there. "The man's Inhuman. The homeless man's Inhuman. They're after him!" She shouted, running to the alley where an old man stood. A net came down and grabbed him. "No!" She gripped his hand, but it easily slid off, and he was pulled upwards.

Daisy grunted, her body tensing, and she looked upwards, feeling her whole body shake as flashes took over. A woman who she didn't know was crying, Fitz and Simmons were standing outside as it snowed, Lincoln's face was covered in blood, she was fighting off a couple guys, Coulson was shooting at her. A voice then filled her head, "I was hoping you could help." Her vision then went to the old man being escorted on a roof, and then he was laying on the ground, his face close up.

Daisy could feel herself being sucked back to reality, gasping for air, and she fell to the ground. Coulson and Lincoln came to her side, and she leaned against Lincoln, trying to control her breathing, crying.

All their voices filled her head as she tried to get a grip, "Hey! You all right?"

"Hey, Daisy, talk to me, please

"We need medical!"

"I know. I'm sorry. We lost one."

"No," she breathed out finally, "No, no, no."

"What's wrong?" Lincoln asked her in a small voice, pulling her closer to him. "What is it?"

Shakily reaching forward, Daisy grabbed a wooden made Robin. She looked up at Lincoln with wide eyes. "It hasn't happened yet."

"YOU'RE sure that it was the future?"

"My whole face was covered in—" Lincoln chocked out, gesturing to his face

"Uh-huh." She nodded.

"And Coulson shoots you?"

"Yep." She nodded again.

"Then I'll just ask the question that someone should ask at some point..." They all turned to Coulson. "Is this even possible?"

Fitz spoke up, "Technically, it's-fourth-dimensional perspective." At the same time Jemma said, "Well, Hermann Minkowski would say yes, for one." And Daisy spoke up with them, saying, "That guy Edwin predicted everything that happened."

Lincoln decided to put his two cents in, "We had a similar experience with Raina, remember?"

"That's a dumb question," May piped up, giving Coulson a look.

"Okay, got it." Coulson sighed, rubbing at his face. "So, we all agree it's possible. Now what?"

"I can change it," Daisy told him, numbly looking him in the eyes, her head pounding.

"No."

She turned her head to Fitz. "We can reverse-engineer the visions, figure out where this went down, and get there ahead of it."

"Save that poor man," Jemma agreed, taking Daisy's hand in hers.

"You can't." They all faced Fitz, "I mean, fourth-dimensionally speaking, is all. If you saw the future, then that's the future."

Daisy shook her head. "I don't want to believe that. I can't explain how it felt, but it was awful. I felt so helpless. I was inches away from him. I have to save him," she stated, tears in her eyes.

Lincoln gripped her other hand. "Edwin called in with your name for a reason. Maybe you're meant to change it."

"And we know what this homeless man, Charles, looks like," Coulson stated, looking down at her with concerned fatherly eyes.

"And we're running a search." May gave Coulson a look

"If Daisy can remember details about the location and we get there in time, we—"

Fitz interrupted Coulson, "Guys, there is no time. She glimpsed the fourth dimension. Time is an illusion. It's how we perceive the fourth dimension." He looked to Jemma. "Simmons."

She rolled her eyes. "It's mathematics. He's talking about space-time."

"How do you..." Fitz sat up in his chair. "How can I explain this?" He grabbed a stack of paper, "Right. We're 3-D, yeah?" He got up from his seat, and went to the table where the rest of them sat. "Okay, but imagine..." He slammed the paper on the table. "Imagine we lived in a 2-dimensional existence..." he held up just a single piece of paper, "Flat, just like a piece of paper. We wouldn't be able to conceive of three dimensions, of — of a cube or anything that's not 2-dimensional, okay?"

"Yeah."

"Right, so." He drew something on the other side of the paper, "We flat paper people would perceive." He turned the paper around so they could a black line going up the huge chunk of paper. "This 3-dimensional cube as many separate 2-dimensional moments. As time passing," he started to slowly flip the pages, but not fully flip them, "The point on the line traveling through space and time."

Jemma piched in, "But, in fact, the cube, the line is fixed."

Fitz nodded. "Yeah, it's just sitting there. There's no future. There's no past. It just... It just is. And nothing you can do will change that." He threw the marker on the table.

"You're hurting my brain," May commented and Daisy nodded in agreement, rubbing her forehead.

Coulson sighed. "Look, I don't know if Fitz is right or if I even understand what he's saying, really, but Hydra has this guy. And we got to try to stop them." He looked down at Daisy. "I think I might have a strategy."

"We're all ears," Lincoln spoke up for all of them.

"All we have to do to guarantee that we change the outcome is not let Daisy out of the base."

"What?" Daisy asked in disbelief, "No. I have to go help him!" She protested, shaking her head.

"The one thing we know for certain is that Daisy was at the center of these visions, whereas May doesn't appear in any of them."

She stood up from her seat. "Look, I get the logic, but I can handle this myself."

"I'm sorry." Coulson shook his head. "May goes instead."

"Coulson..." She walked up to the man who she though of as a father figure. "I was meant to save him."

"If you want to try to stop this man from dying, then this is how we're doing it. Understood?" She stood there, taking it all in. "Lincoln and I will chase down any intel we can on the homeless man. Daisy, remember every detail you can about where this happens, and then we'll send May. No one else goes. I won't pick up a gun until this is finished." She walked over to Lincoln who stood up And wrapped his arms around her. "And Fitz-Simmons will stay out of the damn snow." There was a beat, "Are we clear?"

DAISY tried to think back to the visions, trying to find out where it happened. "There... There's a red metal staircase nearby. It's a rooftop, 20 stories, at least. And the light was weird... maybe a — a — a flashing billboard behind me?" She tried to describe as much as she could to Fitz and Jemma. "I wish I could remember more clearly. They're probably taking him there now. And whatever bad thing happens, I feel like it happens tonight."

The door opened and in came May. "What are you doing?"

Daisy looked up to her, rubbing her temples as Fitz told her, "I'm trying to find the building. I've retasked the S.H.I.E.L.D. servers to search for keywords we're feeding in."

"Not all the servers," May told him, wide eyed.

"Yeah, all of them," Daisy stated, nodding

"Daisy!" She scolded her like a mother would her child.

The girl in question sighed, giving her a look. "May, if I'm not allowed to go on the mission myself, then I'm sure as hell gonna do everything I can from here."

She slammed her tablet on the table making Daisy jump. "Not all of them." Daisy flinched back from her heated look. "Got it?" She then walked away.

Jemma gave her a small smile. "She and I have built a similar algorithm to find Dr. Garner, and a number of the servers are running it. We're both understandably desperate to find him."

Fitz shook his head. "No worries. I'll leave those servers alone." Jemma got up and walked towards May.

Daisy jumped up from her seat upon seeing the crying woman from her vision. She walked towards her with wide eyes. "It's you."

"Oh," the woman breathed out, "You touched him, didn't you?"

"IT drove him crazy," Charles' wife stated, looking ready to cry which made Daisy's palms sweat with nerves.

"When did it start?" Coulson questioned.

"It was a Sunday. We'd just gotten home from the farmer's market, and it started to pour. Charles ran out to the yard to bring our daughter's toys inside. And I hear him howl like he hurt himself. I ran out and found him on the ground covered with some kind of... crust. I took his hand... and we saw flashes... random events, ending with a horrific car crash."

"He sees it, too?" Daisy asked, her eyebrows furrowed at the new information.

"We just sat there, shocked. But then, leading him inside, it happened again. We saw — We saw my mother in a hospital bed. Code blue."

"So, you had to stop physical contact?" Coulson asked, furrowing his brows.

"We thought we were going crazy. But it would happen any time Charles touched anyone. He and that person would both see someone's death."

"A death?" Daisy choked out.

"That was probably enough to make Charles go mad, but then it got so much worse a few days later when—"

Daisy cut her off, "The visions started coming true." She nodded, swallowing thickly. "Did he ever try to stop them from happening?"

"Of course!" Her voice broke, "Of course he tried... over and over. That's what sent him over the edge, I guess. He couldn't make a difference... not one. He was powerless."

Daisy looked away, trying to control her emotions as best as she could, "Is there any other detail you could share with us that could help? Could you tell us about the bird?"

She looked up at Daisy, tears in her eyes. "Bird?"

"Charles carved a little bird... I think it was a—" She clicked grr tongue, remembering it. "Robin out of wood."

"He did?" Daisy nodded, confused on why she was surprised. "That's our daughter's name... Robin. Charles left in the night, and he didn't take anything but a jacket. He left because he would never be able to hold his little girl again."

Daisy sucked in a breath, watching the first tear fall from her eye.

She sputtered out words, "At least, not without her crying and screaming and seeing death."

DAISY grabbed the wooden robin, holding it as if it was made of glass.

"You still think you should be going."

She looked up to find May standing there, and nodded, and sat the Robin down. "I know I can do it."

"And you think I can't," she challenged the younger girl.

"I — I have an advantage," Daisy told her, crossing her arms.

"I can't cause earthquakes, but I'm faster than you," May told her, narrowing her eyes.

Daisy smirked at her. "Foresight," she reminded her. "I know what's coming."

She nodded. "Then get off your ass and show me."

THEY walked into the training room where desks were set up, and Lincoln was just getting done with the finishing touches

"You can picture this fight in the security office?" May asked Daisy who nodded and said, "Yeah, I only get to Charles a few seconds late."

May sighed and gestured around the room. "So, let's lay out the room as best we can." She pointed to Lincoln and Fitz. "They'll be the guards, and you show me how to get through it a few seconds faster."

"Okay." Daisy nodded. "Yeah, all right." Se then start to frantically point around the room, ordering them around. "There's a —a bank of servers on the left side, and we'll need chairs on wheels..." She turned to Jemma who nodded. "Two of them and two more bodies." We all started to set everything up the way it was in the vision. Now all we needed were a couple more people.

"NO, Fitz, you're supposed to — What's your name again, man?" Daisy looked to the agent who she didn't know the name of.

"Doug."

She looked back to Fitz who was getting up from the floor. "You're supposed to come in on the heels of Doug. And, Lincoln," She turned towards her boyfriend, "I'll just — I'll give you a separate cue to come in."

He gave her a look. "I'm playing "freak out and go for the alarm guy"."

"Good luck with that." They glanced to Coulson who stood at the doorway, amused.

"All right, reset!" Daisy clapped her hands, "Right when she opens the door." She pointed to the now closed door, "Ready whenever you are, May."

As soon as May kicked open the door, Daisy hit the stopwatch, timing it. She watched as May kicked their asses, but she was being a little slow about it which made her worry boil to the top, but she had to remind myself that May knew what she was doing. She was the Calvary, after all.

"Shoot him!" Dais shouted at May who said 'bang', acting like she was shooting the agents. If she wasn't so worried and fearful, she would be making jokes about now. "Under the table," she ordered and May effortlessly did as told.

Jemma ran into it, and May and her fake fought which Daisy found highly amusing.

"Lincoln, go. Grab the knife," she ordered her boyfriend who did as told. May threw the fake knife at the fake alarm, and Daisy stopped the stopwatch.

"Wish we could practice every moment of our life like this," Coulson commented and Daisy nodded in agreement before saying, "That was terrible. Fitz!"

Jemma looked at Fitz. "You come right after Doug."

"Okay, I come in right at the heels of Doug!" He shouted in irritation, throwing his hands up.

"And, May, are you telling me that is your best side kick?" Daisy asked her in disblief.

"I was trying to miss her face." May gestured to Jemma.

Daisy groaned. "This would be so much easier if—"

May interrupted her, "If I had your powers?"

Daisy shrugged. "Well, it wouldn't hurt." She clapped her hands. "All right, it's got to be faster. Come on! Reset."

They did it again and again until finally, it was perfect. It only took about five tries, but they finally did it.

"Sir?" They looked to the agent at the door. "We found the building."

DAISY stared up at the building, taking in a shaky breath before charging in. She hid behind the wall, closed her eyes, and inhaled deeply, getting ready for the fight that May had practiced for the last two hours, but now had other things to do.

She kicked the door open, punched the guy she knew was coming at her easily. She twisted his arm, brought up her knee, kneed him in the crotch, before moving on to the next guy. She shot the next guy twice, grabbed the guy she kneed in the crotch, and shot him as well.

She then slid under the table, shot another one. As he fell to the ground, she jumped on the other, they rolled, she was on top of him, and she punched him in the throat. As another guy came running in, trying to get to the alarm, she held up her hand, the shock wave emitting from her palm, and knocked him into the wall.

An alarm went off, and so did the lights. She looked at the mirror, her eyes widening. "One-way mirror," she gasped out as she turned around to see Coulson walking towards her with a gun. She flinched as he shot at the mirror, shooting the person behind the mirror.

"Guess it's a good thing I was here," Coulson stared.

"How did you know that—"

He interrupted her, "We've been monitoring the security feed. Oh, and by the way, your chances of not going up to the roof just evaporated. Hydra's already taking Charles there now. Get moving."

She went to run, but stopped and turned to him, "Okay. Wait. What are you gonna do?"

"Find Grant Ward." Everything paused. "Yeah. Day got weirder."

DAISY ran up the stairs as fast as she possibly could.

As she got to the roof, two agents were pushing Charles towards a helicopter. She went to hold up her hand, but was punched in the face harshly, making her fall to the ground. She groaned, rolling onto her side, spitting out blood. She tried to crawl away but her vision was blurry. She held up her hand blindly, the shock wave being emitted as she fell onto her back, instead of hitting the person who hit her, she hit the billboard.

Her shirt was roughly grabbed, and was pulled upwards, and then punched in the face. She fell back onto the ground, grunting as her head felt like it had a weight was pulling down on it.

Whoever it was continued to punch her over and over again.

"Power is intoxicating, isn't it?" The familiar voice of Malick said. "And he's right... you never really feel it until you take someone else's away from them." She was slapped on her right cheek so hard that her head flew to the other side, her forehead hitting the concrete floor.

He punched her again, and her face became numb. "Time to say goodbye."

She tried to get up, but everything hurt too much.

She weakly opened her eyes and held out her hand, seeing Malick choking Charles. A shock wave was emitted from her palm, hitting Malick hard enough to where he flew back, and Charles landed beside her with a thud.

"I was sure I could save you," Daisy gasped out, staring into Charles' eyes. He smiled weakly. "But you were meant to save me."

He groaned, "I finally... made a difference." She groaned and looked up to see ash flying around. Tears fell from her eyes as she grabbed the wooden robin from her pocket, and laid it in front of him, grunting from the pain. He smiled and held it in his hand. "I made this for my daughter. I couldn't bear to leave them, but... I had to protect Robin from this."

"You did." She nodded weakly.

"But now I'm afraid that she could grow up... to be like me. So she will always need protection. I was hoping you could help."

Daisy nodded, smiling. "Yes. I'll protect her, I promise... always."

Sw touched his hand, and was pulled into another vision. It was in the atmosphere, it showed Earth, there was a blinking red light in what looked like a plane. A cross necklace was floating, and there was a shield jacket shown.

She gasped, coming back to reality.

"I'm so sorry," Charles gasped out before he rolled onto his back, no longer moving.
