Shadow and Sonic reached to the other city, they began to quickly search around every forest park they could find. Sonic asked around the local people, there were two forest parks in the city. They decided to split up and meet at the city's landmark in 30 minutes.

Sonic went to the south to head to the park while Shadow went north.

"This place sure feels so calming...I can see why a monster would visit a place like this" Sonic smiled as he walk around the area.

He carefully examined all of the park's visitors. He needed to look out for the one that didn't have a mouth, it might sound easy but it's actually complicated. Since there are a bunch of crowds in the park Sonic had to see all of their faces one by one.

"Darn...it's almost 30 minutes already..." Sonic sighed as he stared at the park's clock.

"Guess I'll head back" He shrugged and turned around. When he did that he accidentally bumped into someone and almost lose his balance.

"Woah there, are you okay?"

The one Sonic bumped into was holding on to his hand to prevent him from falling.

"Ah- I'm sorry! So sorry, I didn't see where I was go...going..."

Sonic's expression began to shift slightly from expressing apology to complete shock.

"That's okay, be careful next time" He smiled and walked away.

"Wa- wait! Are you- are you Mephiles?!" Sonic shouted and made him stop.

"You don't have a mouth...your fur is black and greenish grey...are you the shapeshifting monster named Mephiles?" Sonic asked with a shaky voice. Shadow did warned him that the monster might not be friendly, so he shouldn't let his guard down.

Mephiles turned around and just stared directly at Sonic's eyes.

"How did you know?" He asked.

Sonic gulped in fear and took a long deep breath "there's something important I need to discuss with you...will you please come with me?".

The monster tilted his head confusingly at the blue hedgehog, he then shrugged and nodded his head.

"Sure"

Sonic brought Mephiles to the city's landmark, which was a large monument. Shadow was already there waiting for him and he was shocked to see Sonic with the monster following behind him.

"Heh...I found him" Sonic smiled nervously as he point to the monster beside him.

Shadow took Sonic's hand and pulled him away from Mephiles, letting Sonic stood behind him as Shadow faced Mephiles. He was also trembling in fear at the sight of the monster, even though for now he seemed harmless.

"You...you're really Mephiles?" Shadow asked.

"I am" He nodded.

Mephiles moved his eyes and examined Shadow, then he placed his fingers on his chin while still examining Shadow.

"Do you mind if I turn into you? I really like how you look" He spoke.

"Huh...what?"

Mephiles morphed his body and turned to Shadow in a few seconds. He stared at himself for a while before chuckling.

"Woah I look too cool like this"

Shadow's eyes twitched in annoyance. No doubt he was the monster that he and Sonic had been looking for, but he just couldn't stand watching him being so laidback.

"Turn to your own original self, will you?" Shadow asked.

"I would if I have one" Mephiles chuckled.

Sonic and Shadow stared at each other for a moment, they still couldn't believe that the monster was this friendly.

"So...what do you want to discuss with me?" He asked and startled the two.

"Do you know Silver The Hedgehog?" Shadow asked.

"Silver? That name does sound familiar..." Mephiles said with his hands on his hips "is he the white-furred hedgehog with golden eyes?" He asked and both of them nodded.

"Ahh yes I know him, I like his personality"

Sonic and Shadow couldn't tell if he was smiling or not, but it looked like he was since he sounded so happy.

"We- we need your help, he's been poisoned and our friend said you're the only who can get that poison out of his body" Sonic explained.

"Oh really now?" He raised his brow.

Shadow glared at him and moved his hand to signal Sonic to get back.

"How do I know you two aren't lying? Are you planning to catch me for good? I didn't even do anything" Mephiles chuckled at that last sentence.

"We're not lying" Shadow simply answered.

Mephiles didn't look too convinced with their statement. He stared at them with an uninterested expression, then he turned himself around to walk away.

"Where are you going?!" Shadow shouted.

"Somewhere" Mephiles said "I don't trust two hedgehogs like you that only sees me as a monster, so goodbye" He added and shocked the two hedgehogs.

"Wh- wait! Don't you wanna save Silver?! I thought you two are friends!" Sonic shouted.

Mephiles stopped then turn his face around, still with an unamused look.

"Then why don't you save him if you are his friends?"

"We're trying and the only cure is you, dumbass!" Shadow finally let his anger out "if we could save Silver now we would've never asked for your help! You got that?!".

Shadow and Mephiles glared at each other while Sonic tried to stop them before they could have a fight.

"You have a point. Fine, I'll go with you" Mephiles shrugged and approached them.

"Wait, are you serious?" Sonic asked and he nodded. As Mephiles approached closer, Sonic kept hiding behind Shadow.

"So where is he?"

"We- we'll take you there..." Shadow sighed.
