It was early in the morning, Sonic and Shadow were already getting ready to head out from Blaze's castle.

"I did call Rouge, she said it might be okay for me to have this extra mission. It's important afterall" Shadow said and received a smile from Blaze.

"Thank you Shadow, I appreciate that a lot"

"We're gonna bring the monster here! You can count on us!" Sonic said before heading off.

"Goodbye" Shadow said as he turned away.

"Ah- wait I almost forgot! The monster's name is Mephiles!" Blaze shouted. Shadow only smiled and nodded before finally catching up to Sonic.

The two hedgehogs walked around the city, moving their heads right and left to look around and see if they could actually spot the monster.

"It's really gonna be hard to find him in this big place" Sonic said.

"I'm sure we can find him, remember he has no mouth so just keep an eye on everybody's face" Shadow reminded and Sonic sighed.

They searched every part of the city for hours and still couldn't find the monster, the two even had to look inside the buildings just to ensure if the monster's there or not. They started sesrching around the forest and the outskirts of the city, but still to no avail.

"Excuse me! Have you seen a guy with no mouth?" Sonic began to ask around.

"Huh?"

"Sonic!" Shadow called and dragged him away from the crowd.

"Can you be quiet about this? You're causing too much attention!" He scolded but Sonic smirked at him.

"Aww are you jealous that people are looking at me? OW OW OKAY I'M SORRY" Sonic quickly apologized when Shadow pinched his cheek as hard as he could.

"Look, Blaze may have said that Silver told her that this monster is friendly, but I'm still not so sure about that so it's best to not let any stranger involved in this" Shadow stated before walking away.

The two hedgehogs continued their search, but still after a few hours of looking around they still couldn't find him.

"Ah I'm starting to get irritated!" Sonic screamed. He turned around to look at Shadow who looked busy with his communicator.

"What are you doing?" Sonic asked.

"Telling Rouge to see if she can help to find this monster in our city..." Shadow said.

"Oh great idea! I should probably inform Tails-"

"No, don't let the monster's existence be known too much. If your friend knows about this he might tell your other friends and they could be in danger" He warned.

"Oh come on, have some faith on him. He's good at keeping secrets" Sonic smiled and made Shadow facepalm.

"I still don't trust him, so don't"

"Hmph fine. I'm tired, let's go eat" Sonic pouted and walked away, Shadow followed him from behind.

They went to a small restaurant and sat down on one of the empty tables. They made their order and began to eat when their order arrived.

"Ah I forgot to tell you, the monster's name is Mephiles" Shadow said.

"That...that actually sounds like a cool name" Sonic admitted before taking a sip on his drink.

"Anyway, how's the situation with Rouge?"

"She couldn't find him either..." Shadow sighed.

"I wonder if he's at a very far place...what should we do about that?" Sonic asked.

Shadow leaned back on his chair and folded his hands, closing his eyes as he tried to come up with a plan to quickly find the monster in two weeks. He opened his eyes then clicked on his communicator.

"Rouge"

"What is it?" Rouge responded.

"Is it possible to track the monster from our satelite?"

Sonic gasped then smiled, that really might be the best way to find Mephiles.

"I'll see what I can do"

"Alright, thanks" Shadow said before losing contact with her.

"That's so smart! I didn't even think of that" Sonic praised and made him smirk.

"Of course you wouldn't think of that"

"Hey!" Sonic shouted.

After they finished their food, they paid for it and exit the restaurant. They continued to search for the monster while waiting for Rouge's report.

"Woah, this place is pretty" Sonic said while looking around at the forest they haven't visited yet.

"Focus, Sonic"

"I am!" Sonic grumbled.

Shadow was messing around with his communicator again, he was surprised when he reveived a transmission from Rouge.

"Shadow, I think I figured it out. The monster you're looking for is on another city not far from there. If you go to the west from where you are now with your speed, you might make it in 15 minutes. He's around a forest park" Roge explained.

"Got it, thank you"

"You owe me, honey" Rouge giggled before ending the contact.

"Sonic, we're going west. Come on" Shadow said before he ran with full speed.

"Hey don't get a headstart!" Sonic complained and ran to the same direction as Shadow.
