my creative writing class makes me laugh all the time

the following happened last class: 

classmate A: "...defecation of character" 

classmate B: "Don't you mean defamation of character?"

classmate A: "don't they mean the same thing?" 

classmate C (yelling): "no defecation means to poop"

me: (quietly laughs in background)
