Part Fifty-Seven: Confirmation

Unknown's POV:

I silently curse to myself.

She's seen me! Blasted plant! I have to get that snare away from her somehow...

I hiss and crawl away from the greenhouses. I brush the dirt off my knees, and continue about, making it look as if I were going to the bathroom, and not stalking Hermione Granger.

I see her staring at Draco Malfoy with what looks like love in her eyes, disgusting!

She deserved so much more than a filthy death eater, and I was going to give it to her.

I head into the bathroom where Moaning Myrtle floats around and haunts others, she wouldn't bother me. I was 'absolutely...no...FUN!'

I pull open my school bag and smile into the mirror like a maniac, though of course, I'm not actually a maniac.

I place my things on the floor and settle down. I carefully set my things up, making sure to leave no trace of who I am by accident.

"Oh, but I am having so much fun right now."

Draco's POV:

Something. Was definitely. Up.

Why else would Hermione Granger shy away from her friends, and her husband mind you, just to go and hiss around with a plant?

"It's name is Diabolus!" Hermione snaps at me.

I take a step backwards. "Sorry, you're just spending a lot of time with Diabolus, and not us."

Hermione giggles lightly and shrugs. "Plants are better than people."

Diabolus wraps around my ankles and starts to crawl up my leg. "Hello there, Diabolus," I greet it. Diabolus just wraps me in it's vines even more, slowly heading up to my waist. I gulp a bit, becoming a little concerned as it continues to grow higher.

Hermione just stares into my eyes as this happens, and I stare right into hers. Her beautiful chocolate brown eyes hold not only one dazzling colour, but many. They blended together to create a mystical, and unique colour.

"Draco," She purrs. Diabolus pulls me closer to Hermione, wrapping it's vines around my hips and pulling me down towards her.

As embarrassing as it is, I feel myself becoming drawn towards her, and not just by the plant.

I reach out behind her ear to pull at her hair.

"We have a life class now," She continues, ordering Diabolus to retreat. Diabolus retreats, and I instantly am disheartened.

Why did I want to kiss her? I ask myself, suddenly questioning myself and my feelings for her. Do I like her...like romantically?

Well obviously, Draco.

I huff and run my fingers through my perfect hair. I grab my bag and job over to the castle, joining my friends.

"Today we'll just have Life class, then lunch, double potions, transfiguration and that's it, right?" Ginny asks, forgetting about DADA.

"We have DADA after transfiguration," I inform her.

She huffs and taps at her head. "Right, baby brain...sorry." Harry comes up behind her and smiles, rubbing a hand over her small baby bump.

I wish that was Hermione and I, sometimes. Being able to love each other peacefully without having to have little spats over everything, without having to walk on cracked glass all the time.

I walk through the halls of the school, glancing at some of the portraits. I think of the one of the old potions master, who sometimes accidentally messes up his potions. When he does mess them up, they go wrong. They sometimes cause people to act weird.

I'm not sure why I'm thinking about that, but then Hermione bustles up besides me.

Because somebody must have drugged her!

Hermione smiles at me, and I realize her eyes look clearer and happier.

She's definitely been drugged.

She comes up next to me, and giggles. "You look constipated, darling," She laughs into her hand. The beautiful tune echoes through the air, and I feel horrible for what I had done to her. Why would I ever want to make her upset?

I smirk. "Darling? Did you just call me..." I lean close to her ear and whisper. "...darling?"

She blushes and pushes her head into her books. "No!" She squeaks, her cheeks get redder as she says it.

I laugh and throw my head back. This is the happiest I've felt in a while, when I'm with Hermione I feel happy, I note to myself.

"Well, babe," I tease her. Her face flushes deep crimson at this point, and I find it almost...attractive? "I think I love you calling me that."

I wrap an arm around her shoulder, hefting my books into one hand so I can adjust the position. She smiles up at me, gazing at me with affection. My heart swells at the unusual stare, though to say I did not enjoy it would be a lie.

Hermione leans her head onto my shoulder while we walk through the door to the classroom.

I see Madam Pince there, happily reading away, completely unaware of the students filing in the room. Or, if she is aware, she pays no mind to us. She just sits there with her book, as if we don't exist. This was something that Hermione did, except she would actually look up if you called for her.

I sit next to Hermione, not daring to take my arm from around her shoulders.

She looks comfortable, I gloat to myself. My shoulders are pretty damn amazing, apparently.

Madam Pince slowly closed the book, and gently lays it down on the edge of the desk. How alike is my wife to this librarian? I scoff.

"Today," Madam Pince explains. "We will be talking about ways to protect yourselves from possible danger."

Many people groan, snort, or huff, most likely annoyed because they already knew how to do that.

"You will be finding ways to tell if your partner has been drugged, beaten, or under the influence of the Imperius curse." Madam Pince continues, choosing to ignore everybody's groans.

She motions over to the shelf of books. "These book hold scenarios, you must pick one with your partner and figure it out."

Hermione stands up and rushes over to the books, quickly grabbing a copy that was shiny and new. I smirk, fit for a Malfoy, Mrs. Malfoy.

Hermione skids a bit across the bench, accidentally bumping her hip against mine. I quickly wrap an arm around her waist to stop her from falling.

"Whoa," I warn her.

She huffs slightly. "Sorry," She apologizes. She snuggles closer to me and opens the book, skimming through each situation. I just sit their with my arm around her waist, not bothering to do any reading.

"Draco," She asks me. "Are you even reading anything?"

I snort. "If you are, I don't have to."

She slaps me lightly. "Doesn't mean you shouldn't!"

I pout and rest my chin on her wrist, glancing over at the book and skimming through the last paragraph on the page, the words echo through my mind.

Drugged: It is always possible for somebody to be drugged, whether it be accidental or on purpose. Sometimes, a potion goes wrong and it is still given to somebody, because the giver/maker of the potion did not realize anything was wrong.

Try to see if your partner has been drugged by:

Do they randomly space out?

Do they have blank memories, or times when they can't remember what they did?

Do they act in a way they normally wouldn't? (For example, becoming more aggressive and angry.)

I look over at Hermione, who happily reads along, unknowingly.

Ginny and Harry sit a few feet away from me, and I tell Hermione I need to ask them something. "Just about the Quidditch matches," I assure her.

Hermione makes a disgusted face. "Yeah, please go over there to do that." She waves her hand at me and continues to read.

I nod at her, burning the image of her beautiful figure into my brain, and walk over to Harry and Ginny.

Ginny looks up from the page, eyes wide with fear.

"Do you think?" She bites her lip, and stops mid question.

I nod solemnly, "I think so too."

Harry sighs and rubs his temples. "The only questions are, with what, who, and why?"

Silence falls over us. What are we going to do?
