Four: Secret-Keeping

Hermione's POV:

I ran to the Astronomy tower and sat down, breathing hard. There was no way I could marry Malfoy the bouncing white ferret-face! I was supposed to marry Ron!

I let out another sob, thinking about all the secret-keeping I had done. Was it time to come clean? After years of hiding who I truly was, maybe it is a good time. I try to calm myself down, but I hear footsteps. I gasp, nobody can see me! I wave my hand in a couple of complicated motions and become invisible. I frowned to myself. This one trick is part of a whole lie I've been telling my friends! What should I do? I thought to myself.

I steadied my breathing as Pansy, Ginny, Luna, Lavender, and Astoria came into view. They all looked worried.

They all searched between the bricks and behind the shelves. Eventually, Pansy rushed to where I was sitting and kicked me. "Ow!" I exclaimed. Dropping my hands, I became completely visible. They all gasped.

"'Mione! How are you! We've been looking for you everywhere!" Ginny rushed to my side.

Astoria gawked at me. "And how were you...invisible?"

I wiggled out of Ginny's grasp. "Spell," I mumbled. "I don't want to marry the ferret-face, Gin!" My shoulders slumped some more. "This is horrible..."

Pansy sighed. "Look, I know that Draco can be a right prat sometimes-"

"Sometimes?" Lavender asked.

"Ok, most of the time," Pansy continued. "But if he is a really good person when you get to know him!" Astoria nodded in agreement. "I've spent my whole life with him, he really isn't that bad."

I sniffed a bit. "M-maybe but h-he was so m-mean to me!" I put my head in my head. "H-he called me...MUDBLOOD!" I howled. I lifted up my arms and showed them the scar. They all flinched a bit.

"Hermione, I know that my words aren't worth as much as his, but he really is sorry." Astoria grabbed my arm and put it back down by my side. I sobbed even more. They were all being so kind, and all I'd done was keep a secret from them! I felt more horrible by the second.

"You know," Lavender said. "You should go talk to him." I looked up at her. "You just may be surprised by what he says." I nodded. An owl swooped by and dropped a letter into my arms. Luna picked it up and read:

"Girls, please meet me in the Great Hall.

~McGonagall.

Well, that was short and straight to the point!" Luna hoisted me up.

"To the Great Hall!" Ginny sang. She pointed towards the great hall. I let out a small chuckle.

"To the Great Hall!" We all echoed.

Draco's POV:

Ouch. That hurts.

I calmly walked towards Blaise and Theo as Granger slammed the doors shut. Several moments later, Astoria and Pansy were dragged away from us. I frowned.

"C'mon mate, cheer up! At least she doesn't hate  hate you anymore!" Theo chirped.

"Still hates me enough," I grumbled. Potter and Weasley walked towards us.

"Hey," Blaise piped up. "Where'd the girls go?"

"To find 'Mione," Potter answered. He turned towards me. "Look Malfoy, I know that you changed and that you're trying to be a better person, but I'm only going to warn you once. If you hurt 'Mione, I'll make you feel pain that's more horrific than the Cruciatis Curse, you hear me?"

I gulped, slightly scared by the murderous glint in his eyes. "Yes, Potter."

"May I have your attention, everyone?" Everybody turned towards McGonagall. "Because you will all be getting married, you will also be sharing dorms. Each dorm has six bedrooms, six bathrooms, a kitchenette, and a common room. There will be muggle appliances there because it will be good practice for if you ever live in the muggle world! I will now bring you all to your common rooms."

Weasley glanced at me as McGonagall stepped down from the podium. "You're a lucky man, Malfoy." I nodded. I zoned out, thinking about everything that had happened. I must have zoned out for a while because, by the time I was back in my own head, the girls had joined us. Granger shuffled over to Potter. He put his arm around her and she leaned on his shoulder. Weaslette hugged Granger from the side, completely ok with the fact that Harry was embracing Granger in such a manner.

"Follow me please," McGonagall said. She leads us up to the West Wing on the fourth floor. "This will be your new home." She stopped at an empty portrait. "Set a password." She started walking away.

"Ma'am....nobody's the-" Neville started.

A giggle came from the portrait. A young girl in her early twenties faded into view. "Hello, my lovelies!" The boys all gasped, how'd they do that? I noticed the girls giggling and looking at Granger, who looked seriously taken aback.

"How-"

"Advanced magic, Ron," Granger sighed. "Unity." The girl in the portrait tilted her head.

"Does everybody agree? The password will be 'Unity'?" We all nodded. "Welcome then, to your new living quarters!" The door swung open to reveal a luxurious common room. Everything was absolutely stunning. There were two couches, two loveseats and an armchair around a big black box. Next to that was a desk that could easily fit five that was in front of a fire. To the left, there was a small kitchenette and dining table. To the right, there was a staircase leading to a hall with three doors on either side, the bedrooms. I walked up the stairs. The first door on the left said, "THE WEASEALYS". The first door on the right read, "THE ZABINIS". The next door on the right read, "THE POTTERS, and the door opposite that, "THE LONGBOTTOMS". The last door on the left, next to the Longbottom's read, "THE NOTTS". The last door on the right said, "THE MALFOYS". I opened the door and was stunned by what I saw.

It was a large, gold, and silver room. All the furniture was a black wood that I didn't know the name of. The bed was on the left side, flush against the corner. Along the left wall was a huge closet, it must have been the same size as my mothers! Straight ahead were two desks, one white, one black. To my right were a vanity, a full body-length mirror, a door, and two glass windows. The glass windows lead to a balcony that overlooked the lake.  I opened the door to see the bathroom. There was a hot tub at the back wall. To the right of the hot tub, still on the back wall, was the shower. It also had glass doors. On the left side was the sink and mirror, and on the right was a closet and another vanity.

"Damn, you got the biggest room!" Blaise waltzed into the bathroom and offered me a can of Ginger Ale. "All the others have basically the same thing, minus the hot tub and extra vanity."

I smirked. "Malfoys always get the best."

"You got the best girl, that's for sure," Weasely commented. He dropped a pink duffle bag on the floor and started putting stuff on the vanity. "Jesus, your woman's got a lot more makeup than I remembered."

Blaise started laughing as I choked on my soda. "W-what? Don't you have that colorful girl? Lavender Brown?" Blaise asked.

"Yeah, we'll work it out eventually," Weasley replied, placing a bunch of thin boxes into a drawer. "'Mione's a handful, but a lovely handful." He stopped what he was doing and looked at me. "You better treat her right, you hear me, ferret?"

I nodded. "Uh...need...help with that?" I moved to grab another thin box from him, but it fell. A loud crash sounded through the room.

"What was that, Ron?" Ginny called from her room.

He paled. "N-noth-nothing!"

"If it was my Beatle the Bard H20 palette, I'll kill you, Ronald!" Granger called.

"Shit..." Blaise mumbled. " I think it was..." Weasley, Blaise, and I looked at each other.

"RUN," Weasley screamed. We were about to bolt through the door, but Brown and Astoria beat us there, blocking our exit.

"No leaving until we know what fell!" Lavender demanded. She glared at Weasley. "What. Fell."

He gulped. "Nothing...."

"Oh, so you were running out of here, why?" Weaselette asked, appearing next to the two girls.

"Well...uh...we...uh..." I scratched the back of my neck.

Astoria cocked an eyebrow. "Yes?"

"Dropped it!" Blaise confessed. "We...dropped...IT GET-" Astoria launched herself at Blaise.

"THAT WAS LIMITED EDITION!" She rolled on top of him.

"We can fix it!" Weasley exclaimed. "Look! Reparo!" He waved his wand and the palette fixed itself. At that moment, Granger walked in.

"You. Dropped. My. Beatle the Bard H20. Palette?" She seethed.

"Well..." Weasley tried to explain.

"Oppungo!" Granger yelled. A flock of birds attacked him. I laughed. Granger turned her gaze towards me. "Boys...OUT!"

I stopped laughing. "No, this is my bathroom too-"

"Don't fight with her, Malfoy!" Weasley grabbed Blaise's and I's arm's as we ran. I vaguely heard the girls laughing and high-fiving each other, and mumbled, "Damn women!"

Hermione's POV:

As soon as the boys left, Lavender, Ginny, Astoria, and I laughed and high-fived each other.

"You have the biggest room here, 'Mione!" Ginny exclaimed.

"I know! I want this room!" Lavender pouted.

Astoria giggled. "Well as Draco always says, 'Malfoys always get the best', or something stupid like that." We all burst into another fit of giggles.

"I still can't believe I have to marry him," I said truthfully. "I mean, how could we go from enemies to acquaintances to fiances in 24 hours?!"

Luna and Pansy walked into the room. "The Ministry interfered, that's how." Pansy plopped down next to Astoria. "Luna and I were thinking...since we have the rest of the day off, should we spill secrets and have a girls night!?"

I immediately brightened. A girls' day would be amazing! We could really bond and get to know more about another! I may even tell them the truth....excited about what we could do, I responded with; "Absolutely."
