Chapter 30: We Flipping Won!

Hermione's POV:

The rays of light shone through the large window. I let out a small yawn and roll over, enjoying the peace. I was so comfortable right now, it felt like nothing could possibly disturb.

Well, except maybe one thing.

"EEEEEEE!"

I snap up. So much for peace and quiet, I huff to myself in disdain.

"People are SLEEPING!"

Reluctantly, I throw the covers off myself and brush my fingers through my long hair, somewhat taming it.

"GET IT OFF! GET IT OFF! GET IT OFF!"

I roll out of bed and crawl over to the closet, grinning as I open the large doors. Clothes and shoes are shoved in there, somehow still organized.

"I'M TRYING!"

I pull out an oversized light pink sweater and black leggings. I wave my wand and suddenly, I'm standing in the outfit.

"TRY HARDER!"

I giggle a bit and tiptoe over to a still sleeping Draco.

"FINALLY!"

He stirs a bit, but doesn't wake.

I grin to myself, smugly. I summon a plate, some whipped cream, and a feather. I slowly spray the whipped cream onto the plate and lay it in Draco's open hand. I tickle his face slightly with the feather and-

SMACK!

"Blwlpu! What!?" Draco quickly sits up and peels the plate off his face. I take the time to hide in a corner where he cannot see me.

He wipes the whipped cream off his face and walks into the bathroom. I get up and follow him, as quietly as I could.

He places a washcloth over his eyes, and I take the opportunity. I jump on his back, clutching the washcloth over his eyes.

"AHHH!" He flails his arms around and falls to the ground. I fall with him, and groan.

"What was that for!?" I snap. "You didn't have to fall!"

He turns around so I'm straddling him. "Well, Miss Perfect, you didn't have to jump on me...or did you?"

I huff and role off of him. Standing up, I straighten out the wrinkles in my sweater and brush dust off my knees.

"I got bored, okay?" I explain. "Come on, we're going to see who won the competition, Professor Huckielle finished grading the projects a bit late."

He grins. "I bet you I won."

I snort. "Of course not. Nobody ever beats me, thank you very much."

Draco's face falls. "Well...we'll see about that." He shakes his head and his hair falls into place.

I walk out the door and into the common room, turning the TV on. An episode about the Golden Trio came on and I snickered.

"Oh look! It's me!" I giggle to myself.

"And us!" Harry and Ron jump beside me.

"...and Hermione Granger was petrified! Her male companions weeped and weeped over their petrified friend..."

"Hey! I did not weep!" Harry complained.

I giggled. "Well everybody knows that they always dramatize things, don't worry, Harry!"

"MUGGLE STUDIES! BOYS, I BET WE BEAT YOUR SORRY LITTLE-" Pansy whooped.

"SHUT UP!" Theo screeched.

Pansy whirled around. "Did you just tell me...to shut. Up?"

Theo gulps. "Well no you see that's not what I-"

Pansy pounces on him and he falls to the ground.

"Alright, let's go!" Luna twirls around and swiftly grasps Pansy off Theo. "Apologize, Theo, or I will let her have it her way."

"Sorry, Pansy," Theo wheezes unwillingly, but also too scared of what she might do.

"Alright, now I WANT TO PROVE THAT I KICKED YOUR ARSE DRACO!" I yelled, then more calmly, "Let's go, losers!"

With only ten minutes left on the clock, I began to fret. When will she tell us our scores?

"Oh!" Professor Huckielle gasps. "And before I forget, here are your scores!" She waved her wand and instantly, our scores appeared. "I graded them the muggle way."

Crabbe, Goyle, Millicent, Marietta, Lia: 70
Romilda, Cormac, Dean, Seamus, Tracy, Hannah: 89
Cho, Micheal, Katie, Terry, Angelina, Jordan: 89
Ernie, Justin, Sally, Lily, Anthony, Mandy: 94
Draco, Theo, Blaise, Harry, Neville, Ron: 98
Hermione, Pansy, Astoria, Ginny, Luna, Lavender: 100

"HA! TOLD YOU!" I pump a fist in the air and high-fived all my friends.

"Hey! By two points!" Ron complains. "Two bloody points!"

I walked over to Draco. "I told you, nobody beats me!" I tease him.

He looks over me, playfully. "We'll see..."

I was going to say something, but decided against it.

"Anyways, we have a free block until lunch, what would you like to do?" Ginny asks me.

I think about it. Since we've had so much to do, it would be nice to do homework...but I had already finished all of it! "Well...we could go outside and just....hang around?" I suggest.

"Let's go to the Quidditch pitch then!" Harry says.

I groan and everybody looks at me pleadingly. "Fine!" I pick up my bags. "Let's go."

We all chat our way down to the Quidditch pitch. All the boys and Ginny head to the locker rooms and they try to convince us to go. Pansy, Astoria, Luna, and Lavender eventually agree, but I try to hold my ground.

"No! I hate flying!" I argue.

Ron snorts. "You flew out of Gringotts on a dragon, 'Mione, you can handle a broom."

I huff. "Well, mind you, I was also in a life or death situation, and pretending to be Bellatrix Lestrange!"

"Guys, just drop it. If she doesn't want to, she doesn't have to." Astoria snaps.

"FINE!" Ron marches into the locker rooms with Blaise and Theo.

I sneer at him and walk away, but I feel a hand on my shoulder. "You sure you're okay?"

I turn around and sigh. "Draco, I don't want to-"

He laughed. "I thought nobody beat you?"

I freeze. "Academically yes, but this is-"

"I'm going to wiiiiiiiiin!" He taunts me.

I growl. "I said-"

He shrugs. "That's okay, I'll just tell them you're to scared and-"

"THAT'S IT!" I shriek. "I'M GOING TO PROVE YOU WRONG!"

I storm my way over to the locker room and towards Ginny. "Whoa there, 'Mione, calm down." She says.

I huff. "I'm doing it, solely to prove Draco wrong."

She laughs. "Well, you'll need to take off your sweater. You have a sports bra underneath, or do you need to get one?"

I pull off my sweater to reveal a matching pink sports bra. "I'm good." I tie my hair up and look around. They're all wearing sports bras, leaving the uniforms discarded. "Aren't we...?"

"Nope." Lavender shoves a Firebolt in my hands. "Let's go!"

I try covering my stomach with my leggings, but to no avail. My stomach still shows. At least I'm toned, I think to myself, poking my abs. Thank goodness.

I slowly step out of the locker rooms and the boys there, shirtless. What is with everybody and being shirtless today?

I stand behind Ginny and Pansy, who proudly show off their bodies. Harry and Theo are practically drooling while Draco walks behind them and rubs his thumbs over my hips. "You're...decent." He smirks.

I huff and smack his stomach. "Excuse me?"

He laughs and pats my back. "You should do...adequately."

"Alright, alright! Teams are: boys vs girls. Each team will have one seeker, one keeper, two beaters and two chasers since we only have six people." Neville announces.

The girls pull me into a huddle. "I'm a chaser." Ginny states.

"I'll be one to, I have a great aim!" Astoria whispers.

"I'll be a keeper, less violence. That means less nargles!" Luna says.

Pansy looks over all of us. "I just want to bash Theo's head in, so I'm going to be a beater." She shrugs.

"I also have great aim and some arm strength, so I can be a beater too!" Lavender squeals.

"Ughhh!" I moan. "That means I'm going to be the seeker!"

"Don't worry, you'll be-"

"Alright girls! Got your roles?" Theo calls.

"Lavender and Pansy are beaters, Luna's the keeper, Hermione's the seeker, and Ginny and I are chasers." Astoria explains, looking them all in the eye.

"Well I'm the seeker, Ron's the keeper, Harry and Theo are the chasers, and Neville and Blaise are the chasers." Draco replies, smirking at me. "Good luck, newbie."

I huff as they release the snitch and the bludgers. Ginny grabs the quaffle away from Harry saying, "Ladies go first," and I take off into the sky. I wobble around and have trouble controlling it.

You have to beat Draco! I tell myself, and I quickly regain balance. The snitch whizzes past my ear and I check to make sure Draco hasn't seen it. He's floating in one place, looking in the opposite direction.

Instead of zipping after it, I study its course. Many people think that it moves randomly, but there must be a pattern.

It zips right, left, right, right, left, right, left, left, right. The distance it zips in is different, but it only travels in prime numbers. How do I know that?

It's about to end the cycle and zip 29 feet to the right, so I rush forward to meet it. Noticing my sudden movement, Draco zooms towards me.

The snitch notices that I'm onto it, and breaks it's pattern!

It flies upwards and swishes back down. Draco and I are head to head.

"Give up already, Granger." He teases.

"Never," I snarl. I lean forward on my broom and try to reach for it, but he does too. With his longer arms, he had a much better chance getting it.

I lift my right leg off the broom and pull myself into a low squat, keeping my right arm and left leg wrapped around the broom.

Draco looks over at me and pales. "Hermione, you're going to fall-"

The snitch swishes past me again. It's so close I just need to-

Jump.

I jump off the broom despite being at least three hundred feet in the air. I twist my body around to perform a back flip and launch myself into a position to grab the snitch. Draco flies past me on his broom, but I grab hold of the back of it.

I push him into the wrong direction and swan dive after the snitch. I grasp it in my hands and realize I'm about to hit the ground.

"Hermione!" Ginny screeches.

I smirk smugly to myself and do another flip, landing gracefully on the ground, unscathed. They all fly down in awe.

"That was amazing, 'Mione!"

"I never knew you could do that-"

"You should really try Quidditch-"

I giggle and open my palm. The snitch rests in my hands and stops buzzing. It looks like it's sleeping.

I smirk at Draco. "Told you nobody ever beat me!"

He frowned and muttered, "I guess you're right."

After that, we all laughed and headed back into the castle.
