Chapter 11: Celebration Part 2
Narcissa Malfoy's POV:
While trying to see my son and his mystery fiance, Harry Potter and Ginerva Weasley clung onto my arms and tried to hold me back.
"Mrs. Malfoy nows really not a good time-" Ginerva Weasley held my arm and tried to hold me back.
"Nonsense!" I mused. "I must meet my son's fiance! He hasn't told me anything about her..." I saw the two beside me pale as I burst through the portrait. I looked around. It was a very nice room, fit for a Malfoy! Looks like the school had done a nice job!
I looked over to the small kitchenette. There stood my son with Hermione Granger, a bit awkwardly, in his arms. Hermione Granger...my daughter-in-law, I thought. Rita Skeeter's birthday came early! My son looked at ease, but Miss Granger looked panicked. I noticed that she was wearing the dress I gave her. I tutted in approval.
Since the war, I had realized that blood purity was no longer a concern. It really didn't matter at all. She was still a witch, and that was all that mattered. I was determined to fix things. I know that my reputation was bad enough, so I was going to start making a difference.
One thing still wouldn't change, however. I hadn't heard from Draco since he had boarded the train! How dare he! I walked over to my son and slapped him. "HOW DARE YOU NOT WRITE HOME OR RESPOND TO MY LETTERS!" I screeched shrilly. "IT'S BEEN A MONTH AND I HAVE NOT HEARD ONE WORD FROM YOU!!!" I moved from glare from my son to Miss Granger. I softened my gaze. "Hello, Miss Granger. How are you? I see you're wearing the dress I sent! Happy Birthday!"
Miss Granger gulped. "Yes, it's lovely, thank you." She twiddled her thumbs. I turned back to my son who was even paler than before.
"AND YOU DIDN'T THINK I WOULD WANT TO KNOW THAT YOU WERE MATCHED WITH MISS GRANGER HMM? WHAT DO YOU HAVE TO SAY FOR YOURSELF! Oh, hello, Blaise, Theo, Pansy, and Astoria. Lovely day isn't it?" I grinned at my son's best friends.
"Aunt Cissa!" Astoria and Pansy cried. I hugged them both tightly. "Have you come to celebrate Hermione's birthday with us?" Astoria asked.
"Yes...she has..." Draco whispered. I turned back towards him and he leaned away. "I'm very, very sorry mother!" He squeaked.
I pushed him out of my way and hugged Blaise and Theo. I hadn't seen them in ages! I could remember hearing their loud laughs echoing through the halls of the manor, giving it life. When they had been asked to become Death Eaters, I knew I was losing more than one son. I was going to lose three.
I walked over to the couch in front of the television. "Are we going to make wedding plans?" I asked innocently. I heard somebody choking and whipped around. Draco was bent over the sink and Miss Granger was pale.
Draco stood up. "Mother, I haven't proposed yet-"
"We can still make plans!" I argued. I pulled a thick binder from my purse. I had put an extension charm on it so I could fit everything. I flipped to the colours section and started looking. A green would be nice....but it's Hermione Granger. Perhaps-
"Aunt Cissa, it's her birthday so maybe tomorrow?" Blaise asked me, pulling me out of my thoughts about colours.
I sighed but agreed. I stuffed the binder back in my purse walked over to Miss Granger. "May we talk? Alone?"

Hermione's POV:
I walked out of the common room and into the corridors with Narciss Malfoy. The fact that she was going to be my mother-in-law was insane! I stopped. That also meant that Lucius was going to be my father-in-law...
I stopped breathing. Mrs. Malfoy stopped too and turned around. She placed her hands on my shoulders. "Look," she explained. "After the war, I realized that my opinions and beliefs were-er...are-wrong. I've put blood purity behind me. I know that this is a lot to take it, but you are a very kind girl and an amazing woman for the likes of my family." She wiped a tear from the corner of her eye. "Most of my family is in Azkaban. I only have Lucius, Draco, Teddy, and Andromeda, but welcome to the family, Miss Granger." She hugged me. It was a warm, motherly hug, the kind of hug that Mrs. Weasley gave to me before I boarded the Hogwarts Express. I hugged her back.
"Thank you," I whispered. I let go of her and continued walking. "I know that the law placed me with Malfoy, er, Draco, but I'm not sure how I feel about...marrying him," I admitted truthfully. "He's tormented me for seven years...it's just hard to think about you know?"
Narcissa looked a bit sad but quickly wiped the expression off her face. "Shame," she muttered. "A girl like you deserves to marry for love." We took a seat on a bench that overlooked the black lake. "I understand that you don't love my son, but one day, I hope you do. Not just because of the family name and picture, but because you deserve it."
I frowned a bit. Could I ever love Malfoy? I thought back to every insult he'd ever used on me. I thought about the Chamber of Secrets and the Yule Ball. He was eyeing me that night, but whenever I caught his eye he sneered. I thought about the war and how he'd refused to acknowledge that it was us in his manor. I thought about recent events. How right it felt to wake up in his arms. How I felt about him running away after that class. I was horrified. What if something happened to him?
I looked at Narcissa. "Mrs. Malfoy-"
"Please, dear," She cooed. "Call me Narcissa."
I cleared my throat. "Um...Narcissa...I don't love your son now...but I think that one day...maybe...it's possible that I could."
Narcissa beamed. "That," She commented. "Is the best thing I've heard in a while." She pulled a small box out of the pocket of her robe and opened it. I gasped. Inside was probably the most expensive pair of earrings I had ever seen. They were the outline of a teardrop with stunning emeralds on them. "These are a family heirloom," She explained. "They're enchanted to heal you immediately while wearing them." She looked at the sky for a second. "I never understood why, though. In what situation would you be wearing earrings and be getting injured?"
I giggled. "I'm not sure Mrs. Malfoy-er-Narcissa." I lifted the earrings from the box delicately. She nodded at me. I picked up the earrings and put them in. The cool metal gave me a tingly sensation once I let go.
A clock struck twelve in the distance. "Oh, dear! We have to get to lunch! I think they've planned something!" I bolted up from the seat. Narcissa calmly stood up. "Follow me!" I called over my shoulders.
I ran through the corridors of Hogwarts. I heard Narcissa's heels clicking and clacking against the floor behind me. I put my fingers against the wall as felt the bricks as I headed towards the Great Hall. I was going to miss that feeling. I pushed open the doors to the Great Hall. Narcissa came to my side a second later. Everybody stared.
"Follow me," I whispered. I walked over to the table my friends usually sat at, hearing whispers from the younger students. "Why's she here?" some people asked each other. I noticed that an extra chair had been put beside mine. I sat in my seat and patted the seat next to me. Narcissa sat down awkwardly. "Harry, Ginny, Ron, Neville, Luna, Lavender, this is Narcissa Malfoy." I nodded at each of my friends as I said their names.
"Hello, Mrs. Malfoy!" Lavender chirped. She held out her hand. "It's so nice to finally meet you!"
Narcissa looked shocked but shook her hand anyway. "Um...nice to meet you too Miss Brown." She looked around the table.
Harry stuck out his hand too. "Hello Mrs. Malfoy, I believe we've already met." Harry joked.
Narcissa laughed a bit. "I do believe we have, Mister Potter!"
I looked over at Draco-Wait...Draco? Don't I usually call him Malfoy? and saw that he was smiling. I smiled at him and playfully punched his arm. "Thanks to you, we're still alive, Malfoy."
He choked. "What?"
Ginny nodded. "It's true. Your mother's love for you saved Harry!" Narcissa blushed a bit and mumbled something. Draco looked absolutely shocked.
"Yeah," Neville agreed. "Harry told your mother that you were alive and unharmed in the castle. She lied to Voldy saying that Harry was dead."
"Is this what it feels like to be embarrassed by people?" Narcissa asked quietly. We all burst into loud howls of laughter. She looked around and said, "People are staring!"
Theo laughed even louder. He calmed down and told her, "Let them stare, Aunt Cissa. Let them stare." We all laugh harder and somehow...with Narcissa on my right and Draco on my left....this feels right.

*5 hours later*
After lunch, Astoria had pulled Pansy, Ginny, Luna, Lavender, Narcissa, and I into the Malfoy room because it was the biggest. All the girls started squealing about getting ready, including Narcissa! They had shoved me into the bathroom and Ginny handed me the potion. I silently thanked her and took a bath.
When I had gotten out, all the girls and Narcissa were all in their dresses. Narcissa and Ginny shoved me behind a fold-out stall and shoved a designer dress into my hands. Ginny stepped behind the curtain thing with me and helped me in it.
When I stepped out, Lavender and Pansy dragged me over to the vanity, Lavender did my makeup as Pansy did my hair.
Just when I thought I was free, Luna grabbed me and threw me on the bed. Narcissa attacked me with the earrings she had given me earlier, a necklace, and a bracelet.
I finally was able to look at myself in the mirror. I was wearing a red cocktail dress. It had a low V-neck and only went down to my mid thighs! I saw a bright red gloss on my lips. I had a black smokey eye with a green cut crease. I wore the earrings Narcissa has gifted to me and a matching necklace and bracelet. I looked stunning.
"Oh my god...' Mione!" Ginny gasped.
"You're...beautiful!" Astoria agreed!
I spun around. "Thanks, girls!" I giggled.
"Draco is going to faint and if he doesn't compliment you, I'll smack him again," Narcissa commented, tears in her eyes.
I laughed. "Oh my, no need!" I looped arms with Ginny and shocked Narcissa and skipped down the stairs.
