69-The Valentine's Day Ball (Ish)
Hermione's POV:
Valentine's Day Ball and Draco hasn't asked me yet. No doubt he won't ask me, even last minute. Good going Hermione, really good.
I brush through my hair one last time and look over myself in the mirror.
Good enough for breakfast I suppose, but not good enough for Draco, huh?
I toss my hair over my right shoulder and grab my book bag. I swing it over my shoulder until I remember that it was Saturday.
Ah yes, for yesterday was Friday the 13th. I do suppose those girls around Draco was the horrific act.
With a frown, I continue out the door, ignoring my last couple of thoughts.
"Morning!" Lavender chirps. She pours me a cup of coffee, looking rather jealous. I laugh, thinking about how when I was pregnant I was definitely going to miss coffee too. Possibly champagne, though Firewhiskey was something I wouldn't miss. The burning sensation down my throat would barely be missed.
Wow, when I'm pregnant it will be with Draco's child. Oh my gods, am I even ready to be a mother? That sounds...horrifying!
"Morning!" I respond, the smallest bit glum. Why? It was Valentine's Day and I should be with Draco.
"Sad about Draco, are you?" Lavender knowingly asks me.
I quirk an eyebrow, surprised at how she always managed to read me perfectly. It didn't matter when or how or what I was feeling, she would look at me and tell me what I was feeling, then give me perfect advice. I swear she's some sort of emotional seer (Like Trelawney but for emotions). To be honest, it was a bit creepy how she managed to do that.
"Yeah, you could say that way, I guess." I admit to her.
She pats my shoulder as I take a sip from the warm, brown liquid. Most girls my age, or any age in general, would normally put in milk, cream and a lot of sugar, but I had mine with two sugar cubes and that was it.
"Give him time to come around, 'Mione, trust me," She assures me.
As Lavender walks away to go and greet Ron, I mutter under my breath. "I hope you're right..."

**Time Skip: 10 hours/Time for the Ball**
Astoria and Luna were running around, desperately trying to get the three pregnant women to relax. They assured them that no, their dates would not bail, yes, they looked perfect, and no, their baby bump's did not make them look fat.
What was I doing?
Thinking.
(I know, quite the dangerous pastime.)
I really didn't understand what all the fuss was about, though it could just be me being utterly biased in light of the current situation.
What was so fun about dressing up, doing hair, then having to also put on makeup for a ball? All you would do is eat, talk and possibly dance. Why not just go in a normal tee with shorts or pants?
"Because, Hermione, it's a ball for goodness sake!"
Yeah, and? The ball is basically the same thing as the others, except the decorations are different. This time, everything would be red, white and pink with sparkles and hearts littered everywhere.
Naturally, to match the theme, we were all wearing some shade of red, pink or white with matching accessories and makeup.
Luna had on a Gryffindor red dress (for Neville, of course) with red pumps, red lipstick and nude eyeshadow with a red rhinestone at the corner of her eye. The dress went all the way down to the floor and had a white belt at the waist, and two V intake at her stomach, showing her skin. She also wore a heart-shaped necklace and left her beautifully flowing hair down, except one small clump on her left side braided into a rose.
Lavender's dress was similar to Luna's, though hers was a baby pink, maternity dress with a black belt just below her bust and it did not have the intake at the sides. She had matching heels and a pair of pink heart-shaped earrings. Ginny had done her makeup, so she had pink lipstick and eyeshadow. Her hair was in an elegant bun.
Astoria was wearing an all white 'empress' dress that looked extremely grande. It was strapless, and She had an angel halo floating above her head, and I originally though it was some sort of Halloween costume. She had nude gloss and silver eyeshadow. She had her hair in a long, over the shoulder braid.
Pansy, ever the fashionista, was wearing a red to white ombre dress with black pumps. She had dark red lipstick and black eyeshadow, along with a silver V-shaped chain link. She put her hair up in a french waterfall, showing and complimenting her facial structure.
Ginny, the most pregnant of the pregnant girls, was proudly wearing a tight, bodycon dress with a tulle skirt. It was black with roses stitched all over it, creating a wonderful contrast. She had black pumps with golden roses for the heels, and a small tiara. (Classic Ginny, to be honest.) She had red lipstick and smokey eye eyeshadow.
I really don't love what I am wearing, but apparently, I looked 'amazing'. I really don't think I look amazing, though I looked good at least.
My dress was a red satin dress with a V-neck going all the way down to my belly button, showing off my cleavage. The entire dress was vertically ruffled and there was a slit in the side of the dress, showing off my leg.
Astoria had given me the exact same shade of red matte lipstick and red glitter for my eyes. Pansy insisted that I borrow her ruby necklace, which probably cost more than all of my belongings combined.
"Are you sure about this?" I ask them, running a hand through my slightly curled hair.
"Yes, 'Mione, we're sure!" Ginny chides, straightening my shoulders and nudging my back. "Posture!"
I relax my shoulders and hold my chin up high, attempting to mock her. "Better," Ginny approves, nodding as she walks away.
I huff. Really can't win with that girl, can you?
"Come on, we should go see the boys now so we can get to the ball on time," I suggest, desperate to finally leave the room (I had been in here for the past seven hours showering, dressing, doing people's hair, getting my hair done, and other ball-ly activities).
"Good idea, 'Mione!" Lavender walks towards the door and pulls it open. Without showing any part of her, she yells down to the boys. "GET YOUR ROSES READY WE'RE COMING DOWN!"
I shrink back at just how shrill and loud she could manipulate her voice to be.
"WE'RE READY!" Theo screams back, clearly impatient. (Me too Theo, me too.) "WE HAVE BEEN FOR LIKE AN HOUR, BY THE WAY!"
Pansy smacks a hand against her forehead and groans, displeased with her husband's behavior.
I am being shoved through the door by Luna who is telling me to; "Just go with it, you know they'll kill us."
I giggle, happy that at least I wasn't the only not party-crazed girl in the dorm.
After a few moments of arguing and several shouts from the boys, Ginny pipes up.
"Jesus! I'll go!" Ginny throws her hands up in the air and starts towards the railing, gripping it tightly.
We hear the steady click. click. click. of her heels, tapping along the marble staircase.
"You look..you look...uh..." Harry stutters, most likely blown away by Ginny's appearance. With all my willpower, I fight down the laugh that threatens to escape from my throat.
"Get it together mate, that's my sister!" Ron groans. Lavender smiles and takes the opportunity to head down the stairs upon hearing Ron's voice.
"L-Laven-d-dar!" He blurts, in a way, copying what Harry had done.
"Get it together, mate!" Harry mocks. We all hear Ron huff and I smile. That's my Ron.
Luna decides to go down next, muttering, "Let's give all the Gryffindors their dates, shall we? Yes, we shall. Let's go, Luna, no need to be a niffler."
I swear today was more of a comedy day than a holiday about love.
"You look wonderful, Luna," Neville compliments, being the only Gryffindor guy to be able to form a coherent sentence.
"Thank you, Neville," She thanks him, and addresses Harry and Ron. "Really you two, forming a sentence can't possibly be that hard."
I hear Blaise and Theo howl with laughter, and I can almost see the looks on Harry and Ron's faces right now.
I hang back near the corner as Pansy and Astoria shove each other around. The former won the fight, pushing Astoria down the stairs.
"I hate you!" Astoria hissed, steadying herself along the wall.
Pansy chortled. "I know."
With one last glance at the both of us, Astoria walked down, earning a wolf whistle from Blaise.
"There's my wife to be!" He whoops.
"Where's mine then?" Theo whines.
"Patience is a virtue, Theo!" I call down to him.
"I don't care!" He calls back.
"Well you should," Pansy snaps, beginning to descend.
"Right! Of course!" A hint of panic is evident in Theo's voice. Then again, who wouldn't be horrified and on the verge of running for their life? Pregnant Pansy Parkinson? Pretty petrifying.
I slump against the wall, just enjoying my last minute of silence and relaxation.
"Hermione!" Harry calls up.
I shake my head and glance at the clock, realizing I had been standing there for about five minutes. "Coming," I unenthusiastically call down.
Come on Hermione, don't slip! Don't slip, don't slip, don't sl-
My foot hits the floor of the common room and I stare at the portrait, preparing myself to leave, ignoring the compliments from my friends, and the lack thereof from my husband.
I shoulder my way past Draco, mumbling a small apology as I accidentally hit his shoulder on my way out. He gives me a single terse nod, signaling that he got the message.
And even though he tried not to show it, I could have sworn I saw a faint blush on his cheeks as I brushed past him.
