41: In Which we Argue...

Hermione's POV:

***Time skip, fifth and sixth year shopping weekend***

'I just feel like...somebody's...watching me.' I write in my diary. 'I always feel somebody's eyes on my back, it's the feeling I had while I was on the run with Harry and Ron. It's concerning me, nobody else is feeling that way. I can't help but feel like-'

Draco walks through the door and interrupts my writing. I jump and slam the book shut, not wanting somebody to be able to read it.

"Hey!" I say casually.

"Hey," He replies. Draco looks at me as if I were doing something suspicious, which I was, but I just couldn't shake the feeling that I was being...stalked.

"So," He shakes his head, his hair falling into place to frome his face. "We're going to Diagon next week."

I gulp. "Ye-up! Yes we are!"

He squints at me. "Are you...hiding something?"

I giggle, thought to me, it sounds forced. "I was just studying! You disturbed me." I fake glare at him and he laughs.

"Alright, sorry!" He plops down on the bed and starts to read. "So I've been thinking about the wedding."

I jolt back in my chair. "Wh-what?" I gasp.

"I think we need to make it extremely grand. What venue would you like, actually?" He asked, flipping the page of his book.

I glare at him, but this time, it isn't fake. "Are you messing with me or-"

"Look, we're getting married, I can think about the wedding okay?" He snaps. He slams his book shut. "What venue do you want?"

"I. Don't. Care." I hiss through my teeth. I grab my coat. "I'm going for a walk."

I slam the door to our bedroom shut and storm through the common room, not listening to the calls of ''Mione! Are you okay?" from my friends.

I storm out but immediately stop. Once again, I feel somebody's eyes on my back.

I take a cautious step forward, and I hear a slight 'clack', of a shoe stepping on the cold, stone floors.

I turn around and see nothing, just as always.

Drip. Drip. Drip.

I turn back around, but I don't see anything...much less anyone. Feeling slightly panicked, I pull out my wand and point it ahead of me.

Too freaked out, I head back to my common room.

Ginny's POV:

After Hermione angrily stomped out, (I swear there was steam coming out of her ears and fire coming from her glare) she came back about ten minutes later looking like she saw a ghost, which of course she could have, but she should have been used to that by now.

"Are you..okay?" I ask her. She stiffly shakes her head no.

"What happened?" Harry asks her.

She slowly turns to look at him. "I'm going insane." She murmurs.

I pat the spot between Harry and I and she slowly sits down, she sits down as if there were a ticking bomb on the seat, just waiting for her to sit on it to blow the entire common room up.

"I feel like I'm being watched." She finally spits out.

I furrow my brow. "Are you sure?"

She shakes her head. "I just feel somebody's eyes on me all the time..." She zips around to look behind her, but there's nobody there, so she looks back at me.

"Are you sure it's not PTSD?" Harry asks her, patting her back.

She vigorously shakes her head. "No, it definitely feels completely real, I'm not imagining it!"

I bite my lip. "That's never good, even in the wizarding world." I say. I rack my brain for what could possibly be happening, but nothing comes up.

"I don't know what the hell is going on to me, but all I know is that I want this nightmare to end." She sniffs. She gnaws at her bottom lip and stands up.

"Well you'll have us right by your side," I comment, also standing up.

Harry stands up too. "As always. But first....RONALD!" Harry runs to Ron's room to update him on the situation.

I laugh and hug 'Mione. "Forever and always."

She smiles tightly. "Thanks, Gin."

Hermione's POV:

I had no idea who or what was watching me and why, but I didn't have a good feeling about it.

When I asked everybody else, they said that everything seemed fine to them.

"Sorry 'Mione, but everything's the same way it's always been to me." Theo shrugs.

"Yeah, I don't know what's happening to you, but it sounds...scary." Luna shudders. "Perhaps it's the wrackspurts?

I frown. "I really am going insane."

Ron pats my back . "Don't worry, 'Mione, we'll get to the bottom of this."

I nervously scratch my left forearm with my right hand. "I hope we do."

"Hermione," Draco clears his throat. "The potion is finished."

I nod. "Thanks."

He frowns. "I thought you would be more happy?" He asks, sort of.

I tighten my lips into a straight line. "I would be if I weren't going insane!" When he looks at me confused, I explain everything.

"That's not...normal..." He mutters, a bit concerned.

I snort. "Thanks for stating the obvious."

He looks down at his feet. "Right well..." He clears his throat. "We've got to er...figure it out."

I feel some heat rising to my cheeks. Did he just say...we?

"He's right you know," Pansy calls from her position on the couch, cuddled in between Theo's arms.

"Well the first thing we need to figure out is why her, what makes her stand out? What about Hermione is different?" Harry ponders aloud.

Oh, maybe the fact that she's not entirely human?

"I have no idea!" I lie, plopping myself down next to Luna. "I'm...just your average super smart witch."

Ginny looks at me, knowingly, telling me 'We need to talk'. I gulp and she starts to speak. "That might be it, she's extremely smart."

Astoria laughs tensely. "Yeah..."

Blaise quirks a brow. "You okay?"

Astoria purses her lips. "Just...this is so...horrible."

"Polyjuice?" Ron suggests. "If we used polyjuice for a day and pretended to be her-"

I snap my fingers. "We'd have to wait a month for that Ron, otherwise, pretty smart move." I sigh and put my head in my hands.

Theo smirks. "Unless you know where to get it from."

I look up at him. "What?"

"Unless you know where to get it," Theo repeats.

Lavender huffs. "Please, there's no way you'd-"

"Steal it from the professor's stock?" Blaise asked. "This calls for it."

I gasped, horrified at the idea. Why would somebody steal from a professor?

"No way," Neville intervenes. "Absolutely not. We'd get in trouble-"

"Hermione needs this-" Pansy argues.

Astoria huffs. "I don't think we should steal, I think we should actually tell them what's happening-"

"They'd think we're joking-" Ron huffs.

"-and we'd get in so much trouble!" Luna retorts.

"I agree with Neville!" I shout. "Let's just...not steal, okay!"

Harry looks at me, surprised. "Hermione, this is serious-"

"And I can make a decision for myself!" I snarl.

Ron cuts in. "Well we're only trying to help-"

"Guys, why don't we just calmly-" Luna tries to say.

"No!" Draco snarls. "This is important-"

"And I can handle it!" I snap back. I look around. "If you're all going to act like this, then maybe I shouldn't have told you at all!" I hiss at them and stomp up the stairs.

Some friends they are, can't even let me make my own decisions!

I slam the door to my bedroom shut and flip through some books. Just as I start reading about similar cases from some medieval archives, an owl swoops through the window.

I give it a small owl treat and unfold the letter, but a box of...muggle contraception falls out.

Still don't know why you want this, it's for friends? -Aunt Gaunt

I blush and continue to flip through the archives.

"I always felt somebody's eyes on me," Alisa Granger says. "It's the weirdest thing...."

I pause...Granger? Could this be some sort of...family thing? But if it was...then what was it?
