Chapter Four

Adam's POV

Inhaling the morning breeze of the city smells like Monday; work, labour, money, fresh, fatigue, coupled with anything Monday-like. Mondays are always busy. Everybody entering the week with a will-driven spirit. "It's Monday, got to make the best out of it." Kind of attitude.

Monday is indeed dreaded and loathed. It's cranky and no fun but somehow in the middle of all the bullpoo, we manage to go about our routine correctly cuz it's believed if your Monday flops, the whole week is wrecked.

Mondays are quite lousy and miserable but have you ever seen a responsible being choosing to lag around or sleep cuz of that?

I guess we are all just deluded that Monday is the most depressing day of the year rather than knowing that getting Monday right is getting everything right throughout the week.

I personally love Mondays. Monday means a whole lot, making more money, closing big deals, having more reasons to sip coffees and even more reasons to beef at the slightest thing that goes wrong and getting away without it blamed on my individuality. It's a love, hate kinda relationship.

I sipped on my Espresso and enjoyed the little burn on my tongue. It's my go-to Monday coffee. I guess I am starting to be a little free with you. Hopefully, we become more comfortable with each other.

I checked the time and my client is a minute late. Tsk! Darn African time. I am overly particular about punctuality and I just assume you are pixieish if you lack that. The coffee shop was busy with rich men shaking hands, talking business and sipping black coffee. While a larger percentage chose to look formal, I chose my casual look any day, anytime.

Just as I was busy basking in my thoughts, my client walked in with a lady probably in her mid-twenties. She walked with caution behind him and they both were dressed formally.

"Oh, Mr Adam Raheem. It's delightful to see you, young man." We firmly shook hands after the pleasantries and took our seats.

"Seeing you is like hitting a jackpot. Such an intelligent man that knows his job diligently. This is why I chose to give you this job to handle for me cuz of your professionalism." The man chuckled again trying hard to flatter me.

I heaved a short, sharp sigh and gave him a long look before clearing my throat.

"It's a pleasure to meet you too sir. I have reviewed the proposal and I am sure to some extent that my friend might consider working with you.

He gave me a confused look and let out an uneasy laugh.

" Erm... Me Raheem. I don't think I quite get you. Can you please shed more light on this?"

"You didn't meet up with the criteria to work with my company. I am sorry sir but you will have to look for another option. Thank you for your time. Have a wonderful day." He was astounded as I said that. I didn't wait for his response before leaving.

"15 whole minutes in the drain. What a waste." I got into the car and drove to my next destination to meet the next client. His offer looks much better so hopefully, I consider him.
I got to the place and parked my car. It was a skyscraper and It environment was busy, presumably having over 2000 occupants.

I took an elevator to the last floor where my client is. I gave the glass door a gentle knock and entered after hearing a response. His face lit up as he saw me.

"Mr Adam Raheem, what a pleasure and a huge honour to meet you." We shook hands and exchanged pleasantries after which he offered me a matcha latte. I am not a fan but it would be rude to reject.

We got into the business after a little chat and it lasted for hours. I had a broad meeting with the other directors on the plans I have ahead for the company and the contract was granted in the end. They met my standards and I met theirs as well. I guess my whole day wasn't down the drain after all.

I took the elevator back to the first floor and brought my phone out to see who was calling. It was mom. Tsk! Not now.

My eyes were glued to my phone till I bumped into someone. The person fell weakly on the floor and I simply hissed and passed by.

Just as I was about to get into the car, someone came shouting. I was forced to take a look and it was one of those goddamn creatures. She finally catch up and paused to catch her breath.

I took a glance at my watch and it was already getting late. I had to get home.

"How can I help you, ma'am?"

"Ma'am?" She scoffed angrily.
"You know what, you are not just carefree but you are also full of yourself. You bumped into an old, feeble woman and couldn't check if she was okay needless help her up. That was so unruly of you." She shouted.

"Oh, I didn't realise. I was not focused. I appreciate your concern for the woman and I hope she's okay but then, you could have passed your message well without popping veins. I was just wondering if you were as well-mannered as you are pretty but I guess we both know the answer to that. May the rest of your day be as pleasant as you are." I hopped into my car and wind down the glass.

"And oh, you really should buy a mint breath before going about spewing trash and acting crazy." Her jaw dropped and she watched me drive away. I took another glance at her figure from the wing mirror and smirked.

"Pretty frog"
