Chapter 13

Despite the fact Adrien and Ladybug were now dating, it was hard for them to see each other (at least like that).

Marinette saw him as Adrien at school, and Chat Noir saw her during their weekly meeting and any akuma attacks during the week.

Neither of them was happy with the fact it took days for them to see each other. It was quite painful for them to see each other and not be able to hold each other. The urge Adrien constantly had as Chat Noir to hold his Lady and kiss her senseless made it hard for him to concentrate during battles sometimes.

For Marinette, it was worse. She saw him as Marinette and Ladybug. Ladybug mostly saw him as Chat Noir, and she knew she couldn't do anything. Marinette knew his identity, but he didn't know that. If she were to do anything with Chat Noir, Adrien would think she was willing to cheat on him.

Marinette sighed as she stared up at the clock. It was 10 minutes before school ended. It was Friday, meaning she could go visit him either that night or Saturday night. Maybe both, she thought.

All that could be heard was the monotone voice of their history teacher and the clicking of the clock. Marinette was sure half the class was asleep. Hell, she was surprised she hadn't fallen asleep either.

As the minutes ticked away slowly, Marinette thought back to her relationship with Adrien. They were now official, but what kind of things would they do? Hanging out in his room would get boring eventually. She knew he was already bored with half of the things in his room, and having sex every time would just make their relationship feel like a friends-with-benefits type of thing.

Maybe they could go on dates? She wasn't sure how that would work, though. She'd have to talk to him about that whenever she saw him.

The final bell finally rang, and the few people still awake in class sighed in relief. Marinette began to gather her things and stood up. She swung her bag over her shoulder before Alya stopped her.

"It's been a while since we've hung out," Alya spoke as the girls walked out of school. "Why don't we go out for lunch together after our group meeting tomorrow?"

Marinette thought about it. It had been quite some time since she'd been able to hang out with Alya outside of school. She was incredibly busy and more so now with Adrien. It would be nice to go out and have a nice breather.

"Yeah, of course," Marinette smiled. "It's been way too long since we've last hung out!"

Alya grinned, "Alright, see you tomorrow!"

"Bye!"

As Marinette made it home, she felt her phone buzz. She walked up the stairs to her room as she unlocked her phone.

She closed her trapdoor as she finally stepped into her room. Her eyes turned to the message. Her heart dropped, and she felt her blood run cold.

"Don't forget to log your cycle! Your cycle was supposed to start 2 days ago," read her period tracker.

She was late.

Marinette began to panic.

"Fuck fuck fuck fuck," she began to pace around her room.

"I can't be..." she muttered.

Marinette was never late. She was on the pill! She had been for a while. How had she not realized she hadn't gotten her period yet?

She sat down on her chaise, suddenly feeling very dizzy.

She buried her face in her hands. "This isn't happening. This isn't happening!"

Marinette felt movement on her hip, and she removed her hands from her face, startled at the movement.

"Marinette? Are you ok?" asked a sleepy kwami.

"Y-yeah," she nodded. No. I am not fucking ok!

"You look pale, are you sure?"

Marinette forced a smile on her face, "Yeah, I'm fine. Don't worry about me. You should rest up some more, I might go out later as Ladybug."

Tikki nodded, still being rather sleepy.

She flew up to Marinette's bed and cuddled up in her little bed.

Marinette swallowed nervously. It was just two days. She should get her period soon.

.

Five days.

She was now five days late.

Now Marinette was full-blown panicking.

The weekend had passed in a blur. She visited Adrien on Saturday, and they just cuddled and watched a movie. She was nervous the entire time, but it didn't seem like he noticed.

Now it was Tuesday, and she was late for five days. She couldn't avoid it now.

There was a chance she was pregnant.

The thought terrified her.

She didn't know what to do. Should she stop taking her birth control pills? Should she take a pregnancy test before stopping?

Marinette sighed nervously as she stood outside a small pharmacy. Her palms felt sweaty, and she played with the strap of her bookbag.

Gathering up her nerves, she dragged herself inside. There were very few people in the pharmacy, but she couldn't shake the feeling she was being watched and judged. She made her way to the aisle that held the pregnancy tests.

She felt her face heat up in embarrassment as she looked at the tests. They all seemed the same with different price points. Her eyes scanned the available tests before deciding she'd get two. She bit her lips nervously before grabbing two tests at random and speed-walking to the counter.

She placed them on the counter, her heart beating rapidly as she avoided eye-contact. The bored attendant simply scanned her items and told her the total. Marinette reached nervously into her bag for her money and handed it to the attendant. The attendant quickly gave her back her change.

"Do you need a bag?" asked the lady behind the counter.

Marinette shook her head, "N-no, thank you!" She grabbed the two tests from the counter and stuffed them in her book bag as she speed-walked out of the store. She almost tripped twice on her way back home from the nervousness.

Her face was incredibly flushed as she made it home. Her parents were busy with a few customers, so she was able to pass by them with no problem. As soon as she made it to her room, she placed her purse and book bag down.

Marinette grabbed the tests from her bag and ran to the bathroom before Tikki could spot her. She closed the bathroom door and placed the tests down on the counter. She swallowed nervously as she picked one up and opened it. It had two test sticks and an instructions sheet. She took it out and looked over it, wanting to do it right.

She put it down before picking up the other test. She opened that one but that one only had one test stick. The instructions were the same, and since she was taking three tests, Marinette opted to go get a plastic cup.

She gets back to the bathroom with a cup, this time locking the door behind her. She followed the instructions and was soon standing in front of the sink, biting her lip nervously as she stared at the three tests in front of her. Two of the tests were digital, so she stared nervously at the blinking lines loading.

After five painstakingly long minutes, the results were back.

Not Pregnant.

Not Pregnant.

One line (not pregnant).

Marinette lets out a sigh of relief, slouching against the bathroom wall and feeling her body relax. She wasn't pregnant. All three said negative.

As soon as her mind began to relax, doubt began to sink it.

What if they were false negatives? Marinette knew that was a thing. She also read on the instruction sheets that the best time to take a pregnancy test was in the morning. It was after school, way past morning.

She began to panic again. Should she buy another test? Book an appointment with her gynecologist? She was 18, so her mother didn't have to go. She could lie and say she was somewhere else, like going out with Alya.

"Marinette!" her mom called out from downstairs.

Marinette jumped, her heart nearly bursting out of her chest. She placed a hand on her chest, staring wide-eyed at the door and trying to calm down her fast-beating heart.

"Dinner's almost ready, can you help me set the table?" she called out.

Marinette swallowed. "Y-yes, mama! I-I'll be there in a sec!" she called back.

She quickly stuffed the tests back into their boxes and threw them in the trash. She was going to take out the trash soon anyway, so she wasn't worried about her parents seeing the tests.

She quickly cleaned up before washing her hands. She stopped and stared at herself in the mirror, feeling disappointed in herself.

With a sigh, she unlocked the bathroom door and opened it, making her way downstairs.
