Chapter 12
The couple was fast asleep by now. Their position had changed, so now Marinette had her head on his chest and a leg wrapped around his.
Plagg and Tikki were both lying down on the couch.
"I can't believe your girl is staying over," Plagg scoffed. "Is she not worried he'll see her?"
Tikki sighed, "She is, I'm surprised she stayed. The last thing she wants is for him to find out who she is."
This caught Plagg's attention, "Why not? She knows his identity. What harm is there in him knowing? Isn't it better? They can date as civilians."
Tikki looked away, a nervous look on her face, "I don't think that's going to be possible, Plagg."
"Why?" he frowned.
"It's going to be very complicated."
"What are the odds they know each other?" he scoffed.
When she didn't say anything, Plagg knew something was wrong. Tikki always had something to say. The fact she didn't respond right away was very alarming.
"Do they know each other?" he asked, now very curious about Ladybug's identity. Once more, Tikki stayed silent.
Annoyed by her silence, Plagg flew up and turned to look at the couple. The light from outside was enough to show their figures, but his night vision helped him see their faces. Plagg squinted before flying over to them.
"Plagg!" Tikki whisper shouted.
Plagg ignored her and continued for the bed. As he drew nearer, his eyes widened, and his jaw dropped.
To his surprise, Marinette was in Adrien's bed. The same girl who had rejected him months earlier.
Before Plagg could get any words out, Tikki grabbed his paw and dragged him out, phasing through the window.
Now that they were outside and far from waking their charges, Plagg finally spoke.
"Why is she is in his bed?! Didn't she reject him? Why is she doing all these nasty human things with him?!"
Tikki sighed, "I do not understand either, Plagg! I've warned her and told her this was a bad idea, but she doesn't listen!"
"Your charge has caused so my damage to mine! What is she doing? This is bad! I doubt Adrien will be keen to find out who she is!"
"She's stubborn! She felt bad for what she did!"
"But she only feels bad because he's Chat Noir!"
"Plagg, she's not a shallow person! I'm sure she's come to like Adrien too! Why else would she do those humanly things with him?" she protested. "I know my charge, I know she doesn't mean to hurt. Besides, yours initiated everything!"
To this, Plagg had no response.
"I'm not happy about her staying, we need to make sure Adrien doesn't see her."
"Fine, let's just hope your charge isn't making a big mistake," Plagg glared.
Tikki only signed.
.
"Ladybug, wake up!" Tikki patted Marinette's face. The girl didn't budge, she was still fast asleep.
Plagg flew over and began tugging at Marinette's hair, "Wake up, kid!"
This seemed to stir her up a little so Tikki joined in. After a few minutes of tugging, Marinette finally opened her eyes.
"What? It's still daaark," she whined.
"Exactly, we need to leave!" Tikki whisper-shouted.
Luck seemed to be on their side as Adrien was still fast asleep.
"Do you want him to see you?" Plagg asked, annoyed. All this human stuff was stupid and annoying to him.
Marinette seemed to finally piece together where she was when she heard an unfamiliar voice. She sat up and stared wide-eyed at Plagg.
"You're his kwami..."
"Yes, now get out."
Marinette and Tikki both winced at his harshness. Tikki understood why he was so harsh. This whole situation was a shit show and it was going to crumble at any moment. Adrien was going to feel extremely betrayed when he finds out.
She slowly got out of bed, making sure he was still asleep. She decided to walk into the bathroom to transform, to hopefully cover the pink light of her transformation.
Marinette quietly spoke her transformation words before walking out of the bathroom quietly. She made her way over to Adrien and place a quick kiss on his forehead before making her way to the window and to her home.
Marinette detransformed as she got home. She could still get in some more hours of sleep before she had to get up. As she climbed up to her bed, Tikki flew up to her.
"We need to talk when you wake up."
Marinette only nodded, knowing the kwami wasn't pleased.
.
"Girlfriend?" Tikki asked.
Marinette sat on her desk chair, looking down at the floor. She felt too ashamed to look up at her kwami.
"Marinette, are you sure you know what you're doing?" the kwami asked.
Marinette sighed, tapping her foot against the base of her chair. "I-I don't know... I want to make him happy and he makes me happy."
"Yes, but Marinette broke his heart. How do you think he'll feel when he finds out his girlfriend is the same girl he got rejected by?"
"I know I rejected him, but I do love him! Both sides of him! Not just Chat Noir. Tikki, I've gotten to know him over the past few months, I've truly fallen in love with him," she retorted.
"Yes, but he doesn't know that," Tikki sighed. "He won't see it the way you do. Adrien will see it as you lying to him."
"As if he wasn't planning on just using me..." Marinette muttered. But he wasn't, right? He did ask her to be his girlfriend. The idea of him just using her caused her heart to ache. She shouldn't think like that, Adrien wasn't so cruel to do that.
To this Tikki had no response. It was possible he was just using Marinette. Marinette's actions still weren't justified and neither were his.
Neither one of them had anything else to add to the conversation so they went about their daily routines.
Tikki relaxed as it was Marinette's turn to patrol that night.
The day passed pretty uneventfully aside from their morning conversation and soon enough, Ladybug was jumping across Paris's rooftops.
She had left for patrol early in order to take her time. She wanted to relax and enjoy the cool breeze.
She thought back to what Tikki said earlier in the day. How would he react when he found out she was Marinette? Would he hate her? The thought terrified her. She couldn't lose him. She loved him and she couldn't be Ladybug without him. She'd lose a part of herself if he were to leave her.
Ladybug sighed before beginning her path back home. She wasn't paying attention as she ran, already knowing the movements towards her house.
Her pathway was the same, except for when she crashed into something and fell back on her butt. It was hard but not as hard as a wall. What did she bump into?
As she began to look up, she heard a voice speak.
"Are you ok?"
She looked up to see Chat Noir standing there, his hand outstretched to help her up.
Ladybug swallowed and licked her lips nervously. She nodded slowly before taking his hand. A soft blush dusted her cheeks and he pulled her up.
Adrien had a hard time not pulling her into his arms. He was still very happy about the previous day.
She pulled her hand away slowly. "Y-yeah, I'm ok..." She placed both hands on her chest.
"What are you doing out?" she asked.
"Same reason you go out, fresh air," he grinned.
Bullshit, Plagg spoke from the ring.
Ladybug nodded, "It's nice to go out when they are no akumas or patrol."
Chat nodded in agreement.
They stood there in silence, enjoying each other's precedence.
"I think I should go now, I have school tomorrow morning," she spoke softly.
Chat's ears seemed to drop but he gave her a soft smile anyways.
"Alright bugaboo, guess I'll see later."
She smiled, "See you later kitty."
Ladybug took her yoyo out and swung away.
Despite the innocent moment they shared, Chat Noir couldn't help but stare after her and wonder if she was wearing black panties again.
