Ursula, the dancing bear, moved from site to site.

The circus troupe that owned her travelled sternly day and night.

If Ursula stepped out of line, they struck her with a cane.

She didn't understand her crime, her punishment, her pain.

One day, the master of the ring abused her till she bled.

The time had come to show the power of this quadruped.

With violent force and limbs robust, she pounced upon the man —

Thrashing, slashing till the iron leash had left his hand.

          Now Ursula, in forest far, has three cubs of her own.

          Her children wonder why her neck-snake won't leave her alone.
