Chapter 3: Hope is Lost for Sahib

Karim....

I sat outside the coach, waiting patiently for Sahib to walk out of the front door.

He was late.

He was never late.

Something was wrong.

I had waited an hour, watching the door attentively for when he stepped out. But it had been too long, and it was time for to investigate.

I informed the driver of the coach that I would be back, and jumped off, heading to the house. I hated the man, I had no idea why the Sahib would hire him when he had me. Oh wait, I did know why.

Ifrit!

I knocked on the door and got no reply. I did it another time and still no reply. I used my key to unlock the door and stepped in. The house was quiet and no movement could be seen. I walked through the halls and realized that there were sounds coming from his bedroom.

He wouldn't like it if I disturbed him, but he was late and I was worried.

I knocked on the bedroom door.

"Sahib?" I called out

"Yes" he answered, he sounded well

"Are you alright?" I hesitantly asked

It wasn't something I asked, he was always good. But this was different.

"I am" he hesitantly answered "I'll be right out"

I was supposed to be relieved, but I wasn't. I have been working for this man for a long time, I knew when he was lying. The Sahib wasn't a liar, but despite his unemotional motions, I could always tell when he occasionally lied. And when he lied, it either involved two things.

His money.

And the Ifrit.

I turned and walked out of the house, taking my place standing next to the coach waiting for him.

He was out within a few minutes and I opened the door for him to get in.

"There's been a change of plans Karim..." he said stepping into the coach

"Where are we off to Sahib?"

He stated the address and it took everything in me to not glare at him. I knew where we were going and who we were going to see. And dare I say, I know exactly why.

I relayed the address to the driver, and we were quickly on our way.

When it started working for the Sahib, I wasn't fond of it and liked that he didn't like it either.

Things began to change when it used its dark cunning ways to pull the Sahib into its clutches. I didn't think it would work on him, but Egypt proved otherwise. Dare I say, he cared for it. South America was more annoying than disturbing. They hid nothing in the jungles of the Amazon and I felt like I was invading on their time alone. It felt like I couldn't go a day without catching them...doing things.

Its hold on the Sahib had gotten stronger and stronger and he had started to give in. It had grown its hair, flaunting it in front of the Sahib when they were together. Another of her cunning plans. Days later he bought a house all because it "suggested" it. But he was strong, and he held on to his control for a long time.

But the breaking point had come. When the Ifrit said it was leaving or getting married, the Sahib must have realized he could no longer live without her...I mean it. And now he was going mad, sadly.

We finally arrived at the house, and it took the Sahib a few minutes before he could step out of the coach. Was he...nervous? She was a scary wom....thing after all.

He took a deep breath before stepping forward towards the front door.

Was this relief I was feeling?
