Chapter 32: Visiting The Briefs (Part 2)
A few hours later...
...
Bulma and Luna sat in Vegeta's room, the blue haired woman watching in fascination as her friend used her powers to heal the Saiyan's injuries.
"Wow... That's amazing Luna..." Bulma mumbled watching as the blue energy from her hands slowly seeped into the dark haired man's body, healing his wounds from the inside out. "I'm really glad you're here..."
"Thanks Bulma... Really, it's no big deal though..." Luna replied, smiling at her friend as she noticed the worried look on her face. "He's going to be fine you know..." She added, trying her best to cheer her up. "These Saiyan's are practically indestructible..." Luna finished with a laugh, the blue glow fading from her hands as she let out a sigh. "I'm going to go get a drink... Why don't you keep an eye on him for a while until I get back?" She suggested innocently, smirking on the inside as Bulma nodded.
"Alright..."
Luna stood up, walking towards the door as she glanced back at the two of them for a moment before leaving. They really do make a cute couple... She thought to herself, smirking at them both once more before leaving.
Bulma sighed, leaning against the desk next to his bed as she watched the spiky haired fighter sleep. You lunkhead... She thought, hoping he would be alright once he woke up as she noticed the peaceful expression on his face with he slept. She smiled for a moment, thinking to herself that he actually looked pretty cute when he wasn't frowning or scowling at everybody. Suddenly, he growled in his sleep, making her look at him in surprise as he grimaced.
"Ka... Kakarot..." He grumbled, gritting his teeth as he tossed and turned. "I'll... I'll get stronger... K-Kakarot... I'll beat you!"
"He's having a bad dream..." Bulma mumbled sadly, watching him as he slept. "I wonder what he's dreaming about..."
Inside Vegeta's mind, a war was being waged between himself and the expectations he had set for himself, being the Prince of all Saiyans. In his dreams, the Saiyan warrior raced forward into darkness, trying his hardest to escape the hell that was his own consciousness. Suddenly, an image of Goku stood in front of him, smirking at him wickedly as he tried to catch up. Rrgh... Kakarot! He shouted, running as fast as he could but never coming any closer. I'm stronger than you! He jumped forward as he tried to punch the other Saiyan, gasping in shock as he vanished. Vegeta growled, looking around in the darkness as another figure slowly came into view.
It... It's you! He said lowly, seeing the lavender haired fighter from the future grinning at him evilly. You're not... A Saiyan! Rrgh... Aaah! Vegeta shouted, jumping forward to attack as he vanished into thin air as well. Wh-what?! He looked around in a panic as both Goku and the strange fighter from the future appeared right in front of him. Each of them wore identical smirks as they both powered up, their hair changing from black and purple to a brilliant gold.
The Prince of all Saiyans growled, powering up as well as he was forced to shield his eyes from their golden auras. I AM THE STRONGEST! Vegeta roared, summoning as much power as he could while the other two Saiyans in front of him merely grinned. A huge flash of light knocked him back as he was obviously unable to complete on their level. He raced forward, trying to find them once more as the golden light moved further and further away. Th-their too fast! I'll never be able to catch up with them... Rrgh! But... But I'm the one with royal blood in my veins! FATHERRRR! Vegeta screamed, not knowing what else to do as he sank into the blackness of his dream, a distant memory beginning to play before his eyes.
Vegeta... Someday you will be the strongest Saiyan in the universe... His father's voice echoed in his ears. Father... Vegeta thought sadly, remembering the day his father had told him about the legendary warrior of their race as he watched the strange memory of himself as a child. Those ships are headed to a distant galaxies... His father explained, both of them watching as multiple Saiyan ships flew past the window of their home, headed for far off planets. From the day we are born, we Saiyans are examined for our power and leadership... The weakest of our people are sent to planets far away where they face no threat from our enemies....... Vegeta, you come from a strong bloodline and you possess the potential power to join the super elite of all Saiyans... Never forget where you're from and train hard my son... Because if you have proven yourself worthy, perhaps someday you will become a Super Saiyan... King Vegeta finished, smiling down at him as the memory faded.
I haven't forgotten what you said father... Vegeta thought, clenching his fists as he knew he was meant for much more. I haven't forgotten my destiny. And now I know that I WILL be stronger than Kakarot... I AM A SUPER SAIYAN! He roared, laughing wildly as he awoke with a jolt, staring forward with wide eyes.
Vegeta sighed, laying his head back against the pillow as he looked around, noticing the blue haired Earth woman napping in a chair next to his bed. "Huh?"
What is she doing here? He thought in confusion, staring at her sleeping face as he realized what must have happened. Hmpf... That idiotic girl better still be here... Because we've got training to do...
...
A few days later...
...
"Oh wow, Vegeta's still training?" Mrs. Briefs commented lightly, opening up the fridge as she went to get herself a drink. "Oh my... That man works so hard..."
"Mother!" Bulma grumbled, stirring her tea angrily. "Can we just forget about him? I mean he hasn't come out of that capsule in days..."
Ever since her father and her had fixed the gravity room, both Luna and Vegeta had done nothing but spend every waking moment inside of it. At least she was here to heal him... Bulma thought with a sigh, realizing her plan of having Luna come over to make the Saiyan more social wasn't really working all that well.
Now I have to deal with two crazy fighters trying to blow up my house...
"Well, I must say that I'm becoming quite impressed by that boy's unshakable determination..." Mr. Brief said, petting his tiny black kitten as it meowed back at him. "Why just the other day he was training in four hundred times Earth's gravity! Isn't that amazing?"
"Hmpf... He's nothing but a thick headed ape!" Bulma commented, glancing out the window at the giant training capsule in their backyard.
Inside said capsule, Luna and Vegeta were going head to head, sparing in three hundred times gravity as the young Acaiian tried her hardest to keep up with the Saiyan warrior. She realized very quickly that if she wanted to even be able to stand a chance of competing with her training partner, she would have to transform in order to be able to move around in that amount of gravity. As a result, she had been able to extend the amount of time she was able to stay in that state little by little the more she pushed herself...
"HAAAA!" Luna shouted, powering up a ball of ki as she sent it flying towards the man in front of her.
"Rrgh... AAH!" Vegeta growled, smacking the attack aside as they both watched it ricochet off the many drones flying around the room. Both of them flew towards the center of the capsule, clashing against each other as they practiced their hand to hand combat. A vicious kick from Vegeta sent Luna sailing towards the wall of the capsule, her attack that she had fired at the training equipment nearly crashing into her before she dodged at the last second.
Too close... She thought to herself, jumping up as she felt the weight of the gravity in the room dragging her back to the ground. The Saiyan gave her no time to recover as he flew towards her once more, his fist missing her by inches as it slammed into the wall behind her, making a visible dent.
"You need to be able to counter, not just dodge!" Vegeta growled, coming at her again as she blocked punch after punch.
"I'm still new to this, remember?!" Luna argued, trying her best to find an opening to attack. The Saiyan definitely wasn't making this easy for her...
"Increasing gravity simulation... Three hundred and fifty times planet's normal gravity." A robotic voice announced as Luna's eyes widened.
Oh no... She thought, suddenly feeling the weight in the atmosphere of the capsule increase as she struggled to keep up. Vegeta smirked, seeing an opportunity as he spun around quickly, kicking her right in the stomach as she was sent flying towards the ground, breaking some of the floor's tiles on impact. The Saiyan hovered above her, frowning as he wished he had someone stronger to train with.
"Tch, get up!" He growled, watching her struggle as she attempted to push herself up. "If you're just going to waste my time, then maybe you should go back to train with Kakarot and the Namekian!"
Luna glared up at him, her eyes flashing back to their normal emerald color for a moment as she tried to find any energy left in her body. Suddenly, something bright heading their way caught her eye as she noticed the ball of energy she had fired was still moving around, about to crash into the oblivious prince who was too busy yelling at her to notice the oncoming attack.
"Vegeta! Look out!" She shouted, unable to move as she watched the Saiyan turn around before jumping out of the way. The massive blast of energy missed him by a hair, crashing right into her instead as the whole capsule shook with the force of the explosion. Bulma's face flashed across the screen of the computer, looking very angry as she tried to see what was going on inside her ship.
"Vegeta! Luna! Are you guys crazy?! Don't you remember what happened last time when you-" The blue haired scientist stopped, gasping in shock when she noticed Luna laying there, struggling to breath.
"VEGETA! WHAT DID YOU DO TO HER?!" Bulma shouted, pushing herself away from the computer in a panic as she ran to check on her friend.
...
Some time later...
...
Luna opened her eyes slowly, noticing that she was in one of Bulma's guest rooms as she turned over on her side, wincing in pain.
Ugh... What happened? She wondered, looking down at the many bandages covering her body. I remember training with Vegeta when... Ah, that's right! The explosion... Luna realized, remembering being caught up in the blast.
I guess I might have pushed myself a little too far this time...
"Hey, you're up!" A voice from her doorway said happily, getting Luna's attention as she looked up to see her blue haired friend. "How are you feeling?"
"As good as I can be right now..." The Acaiian mumbled, shrugging at her friend as she tried to ignore the amount of pain she was in. "Bulma? How long have I been out?"
"Hmm... A couple days, maybe four? But you seemed like you really needed the rest... You were in really bad shape when we pulled you out of the capsule-"
"What?!" Luna hissed, her throat feeling rather dry. "That means I've been here for almost two weeks!"
"So? You've got to take a break sometime!" Bulma argued, looking at her friend like she was insane. "Your body isn't going to be able to keep up!"
"I'm sorry Bulma, I know we didn't get to spend much time together... But I have to go..." Luna said quickly, hissing in pain as she pushed herself out of bed.
"Woah! Wait a minute! You're not going anywhere! You're in no shape to fly right now!" The blue haired woman shouted, glaring at Luna as she hopped onto the ledge of the open window in her room. "Luna, I mean it!"
"I'll stop by again soon, I promise..." The purple haired girl said seriously, sending her friend a small smile. "See you later Bulma..."
And with that, she was gone.
Bulma dashed over to the window, sticking her head outside as she watched her flying away, her figure quickly disappearing into the horizon. "Luna! Come back!" Bulma shouted, stomping her foot in irritation as she realized there was nothing else she could do. "Unbelievable..."
"I said I'd only be gone a couple days..." Luna mumbled to herself, not believing how long she had been away. "I'm guessing Piccolo isn't going to be too happy about me ditching out on training for so long..." She finished, grinning as she thought about getting to see all of them again.
I'll just have to make it up to him and work extra hard when I get back... Luna thought, excited to resume her routine training with said Namekian and her two favorite Saiyans. I'm going to be ready when these androids finally get here! We all are! There's no way I'm going to let them hurt any of the people on this planet... She promised, not wanting this world to share the same fate as planet Acaii. That's not going to happen....... I'm not going to let that happen...
Luna continued to fly in silence for a few hours, the sun beginning to set as she watched different shades of reds and oranges paint the skyline in front of her. It's so beautiful... She thought, feeling her eye lids growing heavy as she fought to keep herself awake. I'm almost there... Just a little bit farther... She told herself, seeing a few mountains in the distance that were close to the Son house.
Just a little bit farther...
The next thing she knew, she was crashing through tree branches as she woke up just in time to see the ground getting closer and closer as she slammed into the dirt. Luna coughed up a few mouthfuls of grass as she tried to put the air back in her lungs, wincing in pain as she rolled onto her back. Ugh, come on....... Not now... Not now...
Luna tried to will her healing energy into her hands as the blue glow flickered a bit before going out as she passed out in the forest...
