Chapter 6

For the past year, I never fully understood what my home is. But a few days ago, I think I found out what it used to mean to me.

And I learned that home truly is where the heart is.

-------------------------------------

It had been a week since the guys had been assigned the job, and Jonathan finally believed he had a winning plan. But if they were going to pull this off, they would need to work exactly as the plan states. If something is even a second off, things could take a turn for the worst.

"Craig, they have a few security cameras around the perimeter and a few inside. I need you to disable them, and once you do we will have seven and a half minutes to take out any guards outside and get into the camera room.

Tyler, once Mini takes out the camera they will have a messenger run to tell his boss about intruders, it will take him about a minute and a half to warn him. You're gonna half to stop him at the maximum of twenty seconds to spare. Got it so far?" Jonathan looked around the room, not even continuing to discuss the plan. Every part of it had to be perfect, they couldn't afford another accident.

The guys nodded, taking in every detail of the plan. They understood what was at stake, if something went wrong, they could lose someone else, and they couldn't handle that.

"Ok, Lui you are going to be keeping track of time. Once the messenger is taken care of, we will have sixteen minutes to infiltrate the facility and take out any remaining guards. Nogla, I want you to find this asshat of a drug lord and track him down, don't engage but don't let him leave the building either.

After the rest of the guards are dealt with we won't need to worry about anyone else but the cops who will no doubt be informed of the situation by civilians, luckily the police department is across town and that gives us half an hour to finish the job. Brock, you will need to find the vertigo to give to Adam. Marcel, you're lucky, you get the pleasure of shooting Mr. Drug-lord himself.

I have been informed that they are keeping a few hostages in the building as well. If we have time we will rescue them, because we know how incompetent the cops in this city are. So, does everyone understand their part?" Jonathan finished, looking around the room at the guys, who stood around the table in the middle of the planning room. They nodded.

"Good, because we are taking care of this tonight. Mini, set up a meeting with the MMB for two days from now. Same place, Radio Park."

"Yes sir."

"Now as for the rest of you, get your shit together because we leave as soon as the sun goes down."

"Yes sir."

------------------------------

It was another day in my cell, except things were a bit different.

"Hey, how's my favorite prisoner?" It was him, my captor, yet sometimes he felt like my friend. But those are very few sometimes.

"Same as yesterday." He didn't have guards with him today. Maybe he trusts me, but I still don't trust him.

"Still going with that answer I see. Well, anyway, I'm doing terrible."

"Why is that?"

"Because I just upset someone who has some powerful friends. And he has enough money to persuade them to do something bad, to take all of us out. Hell, they might even kill you for the heck of it. They haven't been the same, you know. Not since a year ago."

"What happened a year ago?"

"No one knows, this gang, they like to keep to themselves. They're like shadows sometimes, they appear and before you know it, they're gone. But about a year ago they went completely off the grid for months, then they appeared again. And that means there's no reason this guy can't make contact with them. So, basically we're all screwed."

"Don't you have a plan to stop them?"

"You don't get it, you can't stop these people. They are trained killers, they rule this city, they have enough power in their hands to do whatever they want."

"Well, maybe you can outsmart them."

"People have tried, and they failed."

"They tried to fight fire with fire. These people, they sound like they have fire, so maybe, you should just duck for cover."

"You want us to hide?"

"Maybe they won't expect it."

"Maybe they won't, but maybe they will."

"Are you willing to risk your men on the chance they will expect it? I don't know a lot about the people you're talking about. I know practically nothing about gangs, but I know if you care about a group of people, if they trust you enough to lead them, you would want to do anything to protect them. But I don't make the rules here, you're in charge, not me."

"You know kid, you're really ambitious. You got a good heart, even after everything I did to you, you still want to do some good for me."

"I believe in doing the right thing, even if I'm not entirely sure what that is sometimes."

"I wish you had memories of your family, because I'm sure they would be proud of you."

"I'm sure they would too."

He left me after that, he took the small stool he brought with him and left. I continued to stare at the wall, thinking. If he was right, and this whole warehouse was going to be compromised, I might as well try to remember something about the life I used to live before I die.

I need something to hope for as I take my last breath.

-------------------------------

As the man walked away from the cell, he made a decision, a promise to himself.

He would not let that kid die after everything he had done for him.

Even if he knew deep down he was the enemy.

--------------------------------

"Alright, we are a go in ten minutes. Mini, are you ready?"

"Yes, Delirious."

"Wildcat, how about you?"

"Ready."

"Nogla?"

"All set."

"Lui?"

"For the gummy worms!"

"Brock?"

"You know it!"

"Marcel?"

"Yes sir."

"Then let's do this."
