Chapter 13
They are standing in the palace of Eternalia, where all the tribunals were held. Fitz hasn't been there much before, but this past year he's been there a couple of times. Now, he is here to talk to the Councilors. Alone. "What in the world happened to your eyes!" Exclaimed Emery. "Our theory is that my DNA was altered some how so I have the same telepathic abilities as Sophie. I don't know if I can inflict yet, but now is not the time to find out," he answered, officially. " I don't know where Sophie is, but I transmitted to her and I know she is someplace dark. A cave, perhaps. I transmitted to her and told her to send me a picture of where she is so we can find her. She didn't answer. I don't know if that is a good or bad sign." Bronte snorted," You know, I think we would have a lot less problems if no one had brown eyes." Fitz glared at him. "You know I'm talking about you and Sophie, right?" He continued. "First, you were the youngest Telepath to manifest and now you have the same telepathic powers as the girl that lived with humans for 12 years, manifested at age 5, has always had brown eyes and is now missing because of some strange group that no one has seen anywhere."
If looks could kill. Which for him, now, they can. While Fitz's vision clouded with red hot anger, Bronte collapsed onto the ground, spazzing out. "I think we should have made your dad come with," spoke Kenric, even though he winked at Fitz. Fitz smirked and leaned against the wall, pulling a Keefe. "You know, I am great and powerful. I could just handle this all on my own if you want," he said. "No, that is fine. We failed to protect her, so now we will save her," said Oralie in a frail voice, when no one answered, mostly because everyone was looking at Bronte. "Is anyone going too help him?" Blurted Emery. Fitz flashed a small smile and thought of happy things. Like a picnic with his friends, or winning a game of base quest, or a nice bright sunny day where everyone is safe. Bronte stopped thrashing and got up, dusting his cape off. "Finally," he said. "Remind me not to get you or Sophie mad." Fitz glared at him but said nothing.
"I think we should discuss how to find Sophie," announced Kenric, with his wide smile. "I agree," answered Fitz. "I think I will try transmitting again." He put his fingers to his temples and concentrated. He searched and searched and began to lose hope, until he sensed something. He kept going.
