Captive
/ˈkaptɪv/
Adjective
1. a person who has been taken prisoner or an animal that has been confined.
2. having no freedom to choose alternatives or to avoid something.
Clarice (more like Samael) kept Lou and Pipp captive for a purpose he'd been desperate to commit for some time. Something that he hadn't done in absolutely ages.
Jesus, how long has it been exactly?
That thought came as he stood at the spot he'd been at for the last hours. He couldn't remember just how long he'd been there for.
But he knew this had been hell.
Living in Clarice's body gave Samael one thing to look forward to, and the things he was about to enjoy were just feet behind him as he mixed some potions Clarice picked up here and there.
I really don't like this.
Samael has a completely different personality compared to Clarice. Calm and collected was the female, she knew when to shut up and to restrain herself from the appetite that haunted both of them.
But he didn't.
Clarice was an introvert.
Samael wasn't.
Clarice didn't have a temper.
He did.
Clarice never loser control of the situations in the present.
He always lost control of himself.
And finally, Clarice was female.
Samael wasn't.
Inside maybe, he felt like himself and mentally saw what he could have looked like if he wasn't born form the trauma of an abusing and bullied past.
Just like Lou, they'd suffered. He and Clarice had been through hell and back to get to the place they were at today.
He wasn't about to let an imperfection ruin it.
The monster inside of an innocent.
Samael shook for a second, he hated that fact he was the monster. A demon trapped inside a female's body. Everybody always assumed he was the bad guy.
And if they want one?
"I'll be one."
That last thought he had was Clarice speaking to him. They were partners in crime, ready to die together, ready to perish in the flames of hell.
"What are you talking about?"
Samael jumped a little and turned to the ones he had tied up just over an hour ago. His breathing increased a little. A sign he was afraid.
He couldn't have that.
He couldn't be afraid. No show fear could be down.
No fear. Clarice repeated. No fear.
A mantra replayed in his head over and over again like a tune that just wouldn't shut up. No fear, his life full of fear. He represented it.
No fear.
Samael hated fear. Dreaded it, needed to have someone to fear him so he would never have to fear anything again since those days-
No, we aren't there anymore, Samael. Trust me.
Trust her? How could he trust Clarice? She always lied to him. Samael made the deal long ago to protect the female in exchange of access to her body.
Not in the way you think.
"The way me and Clarice met." He suddenly told the duo. Tied up they were and he found himself wanting to just explain. "We met becusse of you, Lou. You cause nothing but tragedy."
Clarice made her way through the library as it closed that, nobody needed to know that she was here. No, nobody could know that she was here.
She sighed. "Why am I doing this?"
Because she wanted to get back at the dolls who hurt her. That was the reason why she was doing this?
'What was it called?..' she thought. 'What did Elliot say?..'
He was one of her best friends in perfection, and one of the onky dolls who didn't mock her for her magic.
It was real, why didn't dolls understand it?
She had been abused for it, and the supposed leader named 'Lou', didn't give two shits. If he didn't care for them, why shoukd she care for him?
She swallowed some tears as she lokked at the bruises and scars on her wrist, why did fate hate her? Why bless with this thing, if it was like a curse?
As she traced her fingers along the shelves, she couldn't find the thing she was looking for.
She groaned in frustration. "Where is it?"
Her anger increased as she looked for the book in the dimmed lighted building, she wasn't in the mood for this. She needed to find this thing, fast.
'Wait, what about the back?..' She thought. 'They keep the forbidden books there..'
She remembered Elias saying thet one time. She was really into books, Elliot was more into technology. What a pair they made as friends.
She sighed again, it was time she stopped cowarding and just do it already.
Releasing another sigh, Clarice used her magic to unlock the door that was about 10 feet in front of her.
Her aura glosed for another sec before it started to sputter.
'Conceal, don't feel. Conceal, don't feel...'
The mental chant seemed to work as her magic faded back into her body after a couple of hellish seconds. Her powers depended on her emotions, she hated that.
It was why she hated the curse she was born with.
Reaching the back of the toom, Clarice began searching through old books until she found what she wanted.
The book of shadows.
The cover was blank except for that, but it had a warning on it.
Those who are using this, please turn back, your soul coukd be in danger. If you wish to carry on, then turn to page 15.
The book seemed to call to her while she was holding it. It was telling her to ooen it, to release whatever was inside it.
The spell was right there.
"From the depths of hell I summon thee.." She continued. "To come to the surface, and come here to me.."
As sson as she said that, the book closed, and the ground started to shake. Suddenly, it opened but just shadows came up. She was scared.
They hissed and shrieked as the earth shook. Then, their red eyes found her.
She felt paralysed in place, she couldn't move. The shadows moved, and whispered.
"What do you want?" It hissed in her ear, and Ckarice couldn't speak. "Scared? Thought so."
It chuckled mockingly at her, and seemed to coo at her scaredness. She felt the shadows caressing her body as if it was their own.
"I...I need your help." She found that she could talk again. "The book said that you could help me with my problem-"
"But for a price, sweetcheeks.." It interrupted her. "Don't dolls ever read right, you need to pay in exchange for my services."
"What's your form?" She asked.
It froze, then it seemed to smirk. "You want something better than this? Sweetheart, I'm disappointed."
It chuckled at her frightened face, but complied.
The shadows swirled around him, and seemed to change. Clarice closed her eyes as darkness seemed to split everyhwere. It surrounded the thing, and span around him until she could look anymore.
She was shocked at his looks. He had black hair that was in a spiked style, he had narrowed black eyes with white pricks in the middle, and very dark tanned skin.
He was handsome, but Clarice felt nothing for him. He looked like a psycho by the way his eyes shined at her.
"Hello, darling.." He purred, his shadows surrounding him like pets. "Why do you want to see me?"
Clarice sighed. "I need help with something, and my friend recommend you."
He smirked. "My help doesn't come for free, if requires a payment."
"What is it?"
He smiled, and his eyes became red.
"Your soul."
'What?'
"W..what do you mean?" She asked nervously.
"Oh, sweetheart." It chucked. "It's dealing 101, I do something for you, and you give something to me, it's how it works."
"But why my soul?"
"Because I want out of hell." His eyes looked sad for a moment. "It's fucking boring down there, and I have some unfinished business here. Satan never let me out, even when I'm one of the most powerful demons."
"But I need my soul to live?"
"You really don't know, do you?" He sighed. "You have to let me in, and you don't need your soul. I need a physical vessel to live, and you seem like a good option-"
"No!" She shouted, but the shadows approached her and seemed to purr around her presence. "I'd rather kill myself than do that!"
"I know that your ex-boyfriend dumped you, Clarice. I know you want to kill yourself" It smirked. "You've used this as a last option. But if you do, you'd be stuck like me. I'm a lost souls who ended up in hell."
She couldn't speak, how did this thing know her name? She looked away though, it was right. He did make her want to kill herself. This was a last resort.
"Oh, and the shadows seem to like you.." It smirks again. "They rarely do, you have powers?"
One of them curled up around Clarice's arm, and made an aura appear. She gasped, no!
'No!..'
As she made her chant again, the shadow seems to curl itself into her mind to stop her.
Stop repressing it.. A voice ordered. Let it come, embrace it. You have to stop fearing it if you don't want it to control you..
She was on the verge of a panic attack, but he shadow increased her power. It felt oddly good.
Her magic made a vein along her arm brighten, and it seemed to explode the library to bits.
"Damn.." The demon spoke. "That is a LOT of repressed anger, you really can't handle your magic."
She didn't want to handle it, she had hurt her best friend by it. Since then, she had feared her powers. She never even wanted them.
"You hate them?" It's back was turned to her, but it's tone sounded angry. "If you hate your powers, Clarice-"
He smirked, and then waved his hand. She was suddenly brought over to where he was.
"They'll hate you back."
She looked down sadly, her powers had been the source of her abuse, how could she not hate them?
"Let me in, Clarice." It offers. "My name is Samael, prince of darkness. I can take all your problems away, I can make you more powerful, I can help you take revenge. Just give me your body and soul as vessels, and I won't hurt you. I promise."
He saw how her violet eyes shines at the word, it confirmed his theory, she did have darkness in her after all. She wasn't a little light like all the other dolls.
Perhaps fate was offering good for once.
"Y..You won't hurt me?" She questioned. "You'll help me?"
He smiled, and his hand held out a red fire as he extended it. "I'll help, Clarice. I promise that everyone who made you this misery will suffer."
Samael saw how messed up her mind was, and the darkness in the world wanted to take over it. Demons were tethered to it, so they knew when it spoke.
And right now, she was the perfect candidate to corrupt.
He smiled, showing his pointed fangs. "Deal?"
She looked at a him for a moment, and then the world around her.
Her decision was immediate. "Yes."
The world was cruel to her, what other choice did she have then to die?
She shook his hand.
As she did, Samael smiled. But it wasn't the gentle one he had given earlier, it was evil.
"Thank you, Clarice."
He suddenly dissipated, and leaped at her. She yelped as he disappeared into the darkness.
She suddenly felt something in her chest ripping out, and she gasped in pain.
Your soul, your mind, and your body are mine now.. Samael cooed. I have to take it to ensure you keep your half of the deal..
Clarice leaned on the floor, and moaned in pain. The shadows responded to their now master to comfort her. They surrounded her, and sunk into her flesh to give her a cool feeling.
She felt a little better.
Clarice could feel the darkness enter mind as she began to transform.
The shadow lifted her body off the ground, and attached themselves to her as she changed in the air.
A dark aura travelled through her body, and black wings suddenly grew on her back.
She could feel claws ground on her hands, and shadows attaching themselves to her arms to act like tattoos.
A mask cam along, and attached itself to her face. It was a half-one, and it carried a grin on one side of it while the other revealed her true one.
As the shadows settled her down, Samael smirked.
Clarice was stuck inside herself and couldn't move.
Her mouth smirked and moved on it's own.
"It's good to be back."
