Chapter 7
"You've come back to see me." She sat cross legged on the dirty mattress. "That was fast."
Today her hair was combed and pulled back away from her face, but her eyes still showed the void inside. The IV drip bag had been changed today the liquid was a rosy red instead of a creamy white.
"What's in the bag, Jill?" I asked, taking a seat across from her on the floor.
Jill looked up at the bag then back at me. "Blood." She said matter-a-factly.
Paling a little, I looked at the bag. "B-blood?" I stammered out.
Jill agreed a little. "You're still so native." She giggled. "I don't know what it is honestly. Mom gave it to me this morning. Something to help my illness I imagine."
"You said you would tell me about my amnesia." I crossed my ankles. "So what's the deal."
"Not here." She said in a hushed tone before motioning around the room. "Come unhook me."
I gave her a strange look. "Unhook the IV? You're sick."
"Oh Mother is silly." Jill rolled her eyes. "Unhook me, Butterfly, or never learn the truth." She gave me a look that I knew meant if I didn't take out the IV I would never know the truth.
Jill had already explained that Emily and Maddie had been hired by the Headmistress to put fake knowledge in my head as a way to keep me quiet. Lyliana had been telling me the truth the whole time.
That's why an hour later, Jill and I are trudging through the woods outside the home towards the boys dorms.
"We could get killed or worse expelled!" I complained. "And I stepped in something."
She moved a tree limb out of our way and laughed. "Nice to know you still remember references, and I promise your red bottoms won't get ruined before we get there." Jill sidestepped a hole which I tripped over, causing her to laugh more.
"Not funny." I brushed myself off. "How much farther?" I whined. At this point I just wanted to go back to my stuffy room.
"We're here actually." Jill knocked a rhythmatic sequence onto a wooden door.
A girl around our age opened the door. "Can I-Jill!" She hugged my brunette companion tightly. "I thought that witch had locked you up for good."
"You know no one puts baby in a corner." Jill laughed. "You remember Lilia, D?"
The girl turned her attention to me. "Yeah I do or the old her." She moved out of the doorway. "Come on in Tayler is in the back."
Tayler turned out to be a twenty something year old man with messy brown hair and tattoos. He gave off a vibe of one of those boys your parents told you not to hang around as a kid.
"Welcome ladies." Tayler buttoned up his shirt. "If I would have known you were coming I would have thrown out the red carpet." He seemed like the party boy type even more now.
Jill smiled softly. "I'm afraid this visit isn't on good terms." She crossed the room to him.
I lingered at the door an odd feeling settling over me. I had been here before in this room. I knew Tayler even if I don't know how.
"What's wrong with Lils?" Tayler questioned. "She looks weird."
"Mother wiped her memory, but it's only the temporary wipe we just need something to jog her memory." Jill explained. "First Lilia needs evidence she can trust me."
Tayler rummaged through a couple drawers before producing a picture. "This is all I got, J. I took it that day at the ice cream shop." He said sadly, handing her the picture.
Jill smiled sadly at the picture before handing it to me. "Does this give you any reassurance to trust me?" She inquired hopeful.
I wasn't sure how a picture could change anything, but I was willing to give it a try. Tentatively, I looked down.
I'm not sure why, but I started giggling. "I had blonde hair?"
"Yeah you did, Lilia, now try to remember." Tayler spoke a little sternly.
"Would you two stop!" Tayler threw his hands into the air.
Jill looked up from her milkshake. "Just because you won't admit you and Dixie are dating doesn't mean we can't tease you." She stated. "Right, Lil?"
I hadn't been paying attention. "Yeah whatever Tay said is true." I replied carelessly.
Jill looked shocked. "Excuse me!" She yelled. "That was not nice." She took whip cream from her cup then smeared it across my nose.
I giggled and licked my nose. "Not nice either, but it tastes good."
"I remember!" I half yelled. "I know both of you."
