Chapter 5
I now know my name is Lilia Charlotte Buckingham.
I've lived at this home my whole life.
My parents died when I was only three.
I am an only child.
My friends are Emily, Maddie, and Millie. I trust no one else to tell me the truth.
I have never in my life met one Jillian Shea Spaeder that was just my imagination.
I have no relatives or family.
I am seventeen years of age.
I have deep green eyes and naturally dark brown hair.
I am an orphan.
I got amnesia when I tripped down the stairs in the main hall and hit my head on the concrete.
I was in the hospital two weeks.
The missing girls are nothing more than missing girls.
I should not look for them anymore.
I am breaking the rules of Washington Cavanough by doing so which I do not want to do.

Emily helped me remember at least the facts of my life, and after she did I put the whole missing girls thing behind me.
I was one of Washington Cavanough's elite which meant I couldn't be doing silly little things like going against them for some girls I didn't even know.
As for that girl with the curly hair, Emily has it must have just been a dream brought on by that psychotic roommate of mine. I mean I wouldn't want Lyliana to murder me in my sleep.
Instead I'll share a room with Emily who is a much better choice for a roommate.
"Hey, Lilia, wait up!"
Oh God another loser. I spun around to find Storm rushing toward me. Honestly I don't know why geeks like her are allowed at this school.
Maddie stuck out her hand to stop Storm from coming any closer. "I'm sorry, but what makes you think you can talk to us?" She asked, looking the girl up and down.
"You don't look like someone we want to talk to." Emily added sharply.
Storm looked from me to them and back. "Lilia, tell them we're friends. We met last week." She half pleaded, desperation in her voice.
I laughed. "Me friends with you? Please I have shoes with more social class then you." With that I turned and walked away.
"Did you see that pathetic loser?" Maddie sarcastically asked, pushing her blonde hair back. "You could smell the desperation on her."
They broke into laughter so I did too.
Part of this didn't feel right, but this is who Emily said I was so I guess I'll go with it until I remember fully again.

"You're insane."
"I am not!" I giggled, sliding my fingers between hers. "You just don't get the joke is all."
Jill shook her head against my shoulder. "I just know good humor is all."
"Yeah right."
"Jillian!" There was that woman's voice again. Was it her mother?
Jill sat up straight as a board. "Stay here be quiet." She left the room.
Suddenly there were screams from down the hall.
I sat up in bed, covered in a light coat of sweat. Who was this girl and why was I seeing her? Why did she feel so real? Had I known her?
No. I shook my head. Emily already told me that we had never met her before and that Jillian was a loner. Someone like Storm or Lyliana.
"I thought you were different." Lyliana suddenly spoke up.
She was sitting on her bed with her sketch book on her lap. "Now you think I'm crazy like the rest of the lot." Lyliana turned her head to look at me. "I read your cute little letter Emily had you write about who you are and your past."
"Listen, Lyliana it's nothing personal I just bel-"
"Save it." Lyliana cut me off. "I should have known they would get to you eventually." She put down her sketch book and laid down with her back to me. "Have fun with whoever they put you with next, Princess."
I couldn't go back to sleep after that so I decided to go see if the cafeteria was still open. Sure it was against the rules, but they had pizza for dinner which according to Emily was my least favorite food so I didn't eat. So by now I was starving.
Two teachers emerged from a side hallway, and hurried past as if they didn't see me.
"Hurry get towels and some fresh clothes!" One said. Mr. Hewett, our history teacher, I could tell by his thick French accent.
"We should alert the Headmistress about the girl as well." The other said. Miss Smith, math teacher. Worst teacher ever.
"I would imagine Headmistress knows already. The girl is in the main corridor after all." Mr. Hewett replied as they turned the corner out of ear shot.
Girl in the main corridor? Maybe I'll go there before food. Taking a right, I decided to see what the commotion was myself.
The main corridor was basically just like the vestibule of the home with a grand staircase leading up to the second floor. The only other thing down there was the Headmistress's office and living space.
I slowly crouched down and crawled to the edge of the banister before righting myself to see over the wooden rail.
A girl with soaking wet light brown hair sat right inside a window sill, her eyes trained on the floor. Her clothes were ripped and dirty and she held bruises on various parts of her body.
My heart ached at the sight, and I wanted nothing more than to go and comfort her.
"Well look who it is!" A high pitched voice rang through the room. "The renegade returned."
The Headmistress strutted across the marble floors, the pinstriped suit hugging her body a little too tight in my opinion.
This would be the first time I saw the Headmistress, but sadly not the last. Even if I couldn't see her face.
The girl didn't even look up. She just continued to rub her bare foot across the marble.
"You're such a disgrace. I wish the captors would have kept you." The woman whirled around to face the hallway as the teachers came down it. "I guess even they didn't want a brat like you."
My heart stopped as my eyes fell on her face. I couldn't believe it. She was the lady from........... No no it was probably just my imagination.
I left the scene without looking back. I didn't want in trouble with the Headmistress. If I'm going to be in trouble it might as well be over some cold macaroni.

Are you ready for what comes next?
