A legacy is a part of a person that lives on long after that person has passed. A legacy also leaves behind the story of a person so they are not forgotten.
First Person POV - Madelyn Allen
Sometimes, when it rains, I just stand outside and think, not knowing about the lakes in my boots, or the holes in my jacket. Sometimes I sit inside and talk to Raven, or the others at the academy.
It rained today.
After Raven's funeral - - -
I cried through the night. It rained. I couldn't go outside, and the only thing people wanted to do inside was give me their condolences. Even I, the girl abandoned at age one, couldn't take it. I would have locked my self in mine and R- my room, but I couldn't deal with the memories. I would have stayed with Jean Gray, but she's gone. Plus, she killed Raven. So I went to Wolverine's (not so) secret cabin in the woods and cried my eyes out. By the end, I could barely talk, and I was freezing.
I snuck back home at 2:00, no, 3:00 in the morning. I'd been gone for 2 and a half hours. Professor X was in my room, with Magneto.
"I'm not in the mood for a lecture." I said, my voice hoarse. I didn't think I could take much more.
"Good thing we're not going to give you one. I came to offer my-" Erik started
"Don't. I- I can't take it! I'm losing my life. Losing my very soul. Do you know what that's like?" I whirled around, angry.
Then the guilt set in.
"Sorry. I can't do this right now." I apologized.
"I doubt you can sleep, either. Maddy, I need to tell you something." I turned around, away from them, "We've found your father. We're taking you there in the morning. Get packed." They left.
I leaned against my wall, looking at the pictures. Me and Raven, eating ice cream I'd made. Raven, trying to bake cookies for my birthday. Me, playing with our bunny, Ember, on account of her special love for spicy foods. All of the memories, together, whispers of the past.
I packed all of them in my bag. The dark blue one that Raven had gotten me for my birthday, needing something to disguise the burnt cookies she'd tried - and failed - at making.
In my bag I packed: water bottles, very useful to someone like me, with my water powers and all, some spices that I didn't know whether or not normal people could get unless they had a special friend named Lily, who grew things like plants and stuff. She was my best friend, sadly, she was out of town, visiting her brother, Connor. I also had my books. Tons of them.
About the seas, because I, of course, was studying marine biology and stuff, and books that I'd written. I had books about control, written by Professor X, and books about plants written by Lily. And my cookbooks. The ones that Raven had stolen to surprise me in the morning with waffles, and pancakes, and the ones Lily and I had used to make vegetarian pizza.
I had to many memories here. Good ones, bad ones, all of them.
I didn't want to go to wherever I was going in the morning, but I suppose I had to. Staying here would suffocate me.
I really didn't want to go.
But when I went, I'd make sure that I'd do what she wanted me to do. I'd become Waterlilly.
