Mid-winter clash of a loving mountain gale,

Mother Earth weeps her divinity to dead-ground sleep,

Yearly mourning of Cora Underworld-deep,

Khione's hiemal dress cloaks the hills in snowy crowns,

Intricately sketching January-white hand-me-downs,

For the naked post-autumn dry trees,

Before twisting and deepening the morbid freeze,

Prolonging Selene's nightly vaunted reign,

Dethroning her brother with his fiery mane,

Bonfires of juvenile mirth for Poseidon's delight,

Sail not, no wave but the roaring burn of human insight,

All in the name of cooling the tundra tide,

While pondering on wretched fortunes the gods decide.
