A new year's stroll (AliceMorris7)

couplet

A new year's stroll

Snow settles on the harsh ground

In the distance I hear a robin's sound

The bare trees give a little shiver

the ice glistens off the river

I take my very first January stroll

as winter starts to take in toll

The skies above all murky grey

but I continue to set out on my way

The fresh air gives me a new release

I finally start to feel a peace

Christmas stress leaves my mind

I'm starting to unwind

As I look forward to a new year

People in the distance let out a cheer

The fireworks lit up the grey skies

I feel so lucky to be alive.
