One Day Later. . .
Location: Campsite
Dream slowly opened his eyes, not seeing the gray walls of the portal’s room, but trees instead. His green eyes shot open when he realized he wasn’t where he knew they should have been. “Ranboo?” His voice was hushed, but still loud enough to echo around the sleepy forest. A giggle was heard on the other side of a fire, his slitted green eyes looking over the flames to see a tiny ender hybrid on the other side. He quickly stood up, even though his head spun when he did so, and made his way to his younger brother. “Oh, you're finally awake!” Dream looked over towards the voice, seeing that hybrid staring back. He glared, anger seeping into him as they looked at one another. She was the reason they weren't safely in that room, waiting for their parents. She kidnapped them, and now was acting like it wasn’t a big deal.
“I don’t like you.” Dream spat, making the smile on the female’s face disappear.
“Well, that’s rude.” She huffed, throwing over some type of food to the ender hybrid. Dream caught it easily, looking down at the slab of cooked meat quizzically.
“What..?”
“It’s steak.” She answered simply, going through her bag as she spoke. “Your younger brother already ate, but I cooked that for you to eat.” Dream sat down next to his sibling, pulling the other into his side with his free hand. Ranboo automatically curled up in his side, smiling as he closed his eyes.
“W-Why are we h-here?” He stumbles out, his eyes never leaving the other hybrid. She looked over at that, but quickly went back to whatever she was doing before afterwards.
“You would have died if I didn’t force you guys to come with me, so now I’m taking you back home with me where you guys will actually be safe.” her explanation only angered the ender hybrid further.
“We was safe! We was waiting for- for-” The other interrupted before he could figure out the right words.
“You were waiting for parents that would never have come.” It was silent after that, Dream angrily turning his gaze to the fire before him, and the female doing whatever she was doing. Even if he was angry, he knew he should eat. He hadn’t eaten in a very long time, he knew that for sure. Dream cautiously brought the piece of meat to his lips, taking a chunk out of it to eat. He expected it to taste bad, but in fact it tasted better than most of the normal foods he would eat in the end. It didn’t take long until the piece of steak was gone. The female chuckled at the other, making his green eyes glare over towards her. “My name is Puffy, by the way.” Puffy said, smiling sweetly at the ender hybrid. Dream looked towards the fire, pulling Ranboo into his lap and hugging the other close. “Can I know your name?”
The hybrid didn’t know if he should answer the other or not. What if he and his brother were being kidnapped? Should he really trust this lady because she gave him some food? No, he wouldn’t trust that easily. Father had always said stay on your toes around strangers, even if they were kin. Would he really want him to trust this other hybrid so easily? That was a definite no, his father would be ashamed if he warmed up to this lady so easily. So, he growled, glaring once again at the female, who only frowned in return. Puffy sighed, setting her bag off to the side and letting her green eyes drift to the fire as well. It was quiet, the forest still in the darkness as the crackling of the fire filled the air. “I’m going to sleep.” She eventually said, smiling tiredly at the child.
Dream huffed in response. Puffy frowned, looking at the other for a long time before turning around to lay down and sleep. Dream wasn’t going to sleep though, he didn’t need to sleep. He needed to keep Ranboo safe, he had no time to sleep. He didn’t even know where they were, or what things lurked in the night that could hurt him and his sibling. He didn’t get to learn about the overworld, only learning that when his kin were in high school. So, he would stand watch to make sure that he and Ranboo were safe.
One Day Later. . .
Location: In a forest somewhere
Dream walked after the woman he had learned was a Goat hybrid slowly, keeping his distance, even if the lady would stop to make sure they didn’t fall behind too much. In his arms was Ranboo, leaning his head against his brother's shoulder as they walked through the dense forest around them. It was nothing like the forests in the end, which were just dead trees, and usually were very small and rare to stumble upon. Seeing something like this was intriguing to the hybrid, he couldn’t help looking around and marveling at it. “Haven’t seen a forest before?” Puffy eventually asked, noticing the ender hybrids glittering eyes as he looked around. Dream’s eyes snapped over to her, the sparkle slowly dimming.
He didn’t answer, like usual, and the goat hybrid tried to brush it off. “We’ll be in town by the afternoon if we keep at this pace.” Dream perked at the mention of a town, civilization. He could lose Puffy in the crowd, get away from his kidnapper and run. He stopped his train of thought as soon as it entered his brain. He had an idea where he was, the dangers of this world were still a mystery, and the fact he was thinking about putting Ranboo in that type of danger made him sick. Even if he wanted to ditch his kidnapper, he couldn't. He was dependent on this lady until he learned how to survive in the overworld, which sucked in his opinion. He didn’t like her at all. The rest of the walk was quiet, both Puffy and Dream not saying a word to one another.
Eventually, they made it to a town, the one the goat hybrid had probably been talking about. When they entered the town, Dream couldn’t help but look around, green eyes taking in his surroundings. It was a normal village, with small shops and busy streets. Houses filled the streets too, children running about. It was almost like their village back home, in the end. “My house is this way.” Puffy says, taking a left on one of the streets. Dream followed closely, watching as the town carried on with its normal chores. They seemed to be going to a more quiet part of the village, the houses seeming to have more land surrounding them. They came up to a two-story house, itself made out of brick from the outside, and flowers filling the front yard. They walked up to the house, the female pushing the door open silently. They walked in, his eyes wandering the house.
They were in a living room, and on the left was a set of stairs leading up to the second story, which probably had most of the bedrooms. He Saw an open kitchen, and a table with a few chairs sitting in an open area in the corner, the living room and kitchen surrounding it. He saw another door near the living room and kitchen, most likely the bathroom. There was another door though, under the stairs. Puffy must have noticed him looking around, and his eyes stopping on said door. “That’s my bedroom, yours will be upstairs with my son.” She explains, kicking her shoes off. “Speaking of which, FOOLISH!” She yelled, looking towards the stairs. A few seconds later, Dream heard footsteps, and then saw another weird hybrid.
He had golden hair and emerald eyes, but what brought Dream’s curiosity was his hybrid features, having pointy ears and gills on the side of his neck, and when he smiled he had very sharp pointy teeth on display. Dream won't lie, he may have brought Ranboo closer to himself out of fear. The other, even though he smiled at them, looked at the older female in confusion. “Pa, who are they?”
“These, are your new siblings!” Puffy announced, looking at Dream and Ranboo fondly. Dream didn’t like it. He growled, showing his own sharp canines in the process. Her sweet smile slowly faltered, but she quickly put it back up when she faced her son. Foolish expressed his utter confusion, looking towards the two as if asking if they were ok.
“Right…” He says, eyes slowly dragging back over to the goat hybrid. “And where did you find them?” He moved over towards them, reaching out as his eyes looked at the child in Dream’s arms in worry. Dream hissed, jerking Ranboo away, and letting his slitted eyes glare at the other male in front of him. He looked to be his age, if he wasn’t mistaken, but the boy sure did act more mature than normal children. He looked serious, like he had seen things in his childhood or something.
“I found them while I was out adventuring, I brought them back because it seemed like their parents had abandoned them.” Dream’s blood boiled at her words, his already angry demeanor doubling.
“No abandon! No abandon! Waiting! Was waiting!” Foolish frowned, unsure about the situation. Were they really abandoned, or did his mother just snatch up some kids without asking questions, assuming they were abandoned?
“Hey.” Foolish tried to keep his voice calm as he talked, his emerald green eyes meeting the ender hybrids own. “Will you tell us what happened so we can understand where your parents are? Why were you alone?” Dream froze up, green eyes dilating as he shook. The memories of the attack still haunted him, the screaming, the blood, the fire. Dream hissed again, pushing past them and running up the stairs, carrying the other child with him. He wasn’t going to let his brother near these kidnappers, as soon as he could he was leaving. He didn’t need Ranboo to get attached to these people, seeing as the enderman hybrid would with his oblivious and kind nature.
