.:Chapter One:.

Amira swung her legs back and forth looking out over the horizon. The changing colors of the sky basking the forest in changing colors as the wind gently blew. Her home was as peaceful as it had always been and she was grateful for it every moment that she stopped to appreciate the scenery.

She sighed closing her eyes; enjoying the breeze, concentrating on the sounds of the forest floor beneath her. The creatures of the forest knew her as an everyday occurrence and didn’t pay any mind to her. The chattering of the squirrels and chirping of the birds mingled together as the animals scurried to hasten for preparation for night.

The breeze felt so good against her bare skin it was lulling her to sleep, as she gently closed her eyes, settling more against the trunk of the tree. Her breathing rapidly slowing as she fell deeper into her slumber. Nothing seemed out of place in the peaceful forest, just as it had been for the last millennium.

~~~~
The snapping a twig sounded harsh to Amira’s ears, startled her from her slumber. Sitting up from the trunk of the tree she had been using as her bed, she looked around the surrounding area, trying to pinpoint where the sound had come from.
Narrowing her eyes, she saw light in the distance. Amira jumped from the tree, floating to the forest floor. She walked swiftly, following the light that was faint in the distance, quickly picking up pace until she was sprinting through the forest.
She could feel her heart pounding as she tried to get to the foreign sight in the peaceful forest that she had called her home for the last millennium. The closer she came to the unfamiliar, she was able to hear strange sounds. When she finally came as close as she dared, she saw the most strange creatures.
They stood taller than she had every thought a creature on two legs would be able to tower. The material that covered their bodies seemed even stranger, Amira couldn’t help but wonder how they were able to move the way they were. The sounds coming from their mouths weren’t something that she had ever heard.
Walking through the bushes that had been concealing her presence from the group of strange creatures, she tried to get a closer look at them. Moving from the safety of the bushes proved to be the wrong move for her to make.
One of the strange creatures noticed Amira’s movement, alerting the other parties in his group. Jumping up from around the fire they had gathered around, they stopped short of their attack, shocked at what they were seeing.The man at the forefront of the group snickered, tossing a look around at his companions.
“Well, look what we have boys!” Laughter rung around the group of men as throwing their weapons to the ground, walking closer to Amira.
“Hey there darlin’, don’t worry. We’re not going to hurt you.” The leader of the group spoke confidently to Amira. The words falling on deaf ears, as she tilted her head to the side, her hair tumbling over her shoulder. She unknowingly stepped closer to the group of men, exciting them even more.
The forest’s quiet surroundings were shattered with the horror that occurred at the hands of the vile men Amira stumbled across. Pain she knew nothing of wrecked her body as the men violated the most innocent parts of her being. Her screams ripping through the night air that was once so peaceful, now becoming that of a nightmare.
Amira fought with everything that she had to fend off the group of men, as they greedily took from her that of which should never be taken with force. Her screams quelled to that of a hoarse gasp, as she was over powered by the vile men taking their sick pleasure out on her one at a time.
She focused on the moon in the sky, as she could do nothing else, tears streaming down the side of her face. Movement in the shadows caught her eye, but she closed them for the fear of more of the evil men joining their friends. She only opened her eyes when she felt hot liquid splashing across her body and face.
Crimson red. Crimson red blood coated her as she looked at the men who attacked her lay slain around her. Seven figures in the shadows stood in front of the fire, blocking her vision from seeing her saviors.
Her gaze drifted back to the moon as the pain that had been predominantly numbed by adrenaline came rushing back to her body. Crying out, she finally felt something the wrenched her heart as her eyes grew heavy. Regret.
