Chapter 43 - Just the Beginning
Today was the day. The day Olivia and Antonio's life changed, for the better, forever. It was finally their wedding day. Olivia had spent the night at home with Travis, Sylvie and Heidi all staying to help her get ready whilst Antonio spent the night with his best man, Jay Halstead and a few of the lads. She had gotten her nails painted specially for the occasion and had had her hair done that morning. She kept to a simplistic yet stylish look and only wore a tiny amount of make-up.
"You look amazing!" Sylvie told her friend as she stood looking at herself in the mirror.
"I haven't even got my dress on." Olivia laughed.
"But still! You look beautiful!" Heidi agreed.
"I feel sick." Olivia pulled a face.
"That's just the nerves." Sylvie patted her friend on the shoulder. Olivia laughed as they started helping her into her dress as they had to leave shortly.
Olivia rode to the wedding with Travis and was meeting everyone else there. She anxiously stared out the window as they neared the venue. Her eyes sparkled as they pulled up outside.
"Are you ready for this, because it's totally not too late to go to the airport-" Travis asked his best friend as she sat nervously in the back of the car.
"Travis!" She playfully laughed as she whacked him.
"I'm kidding, mostly." He joked. Olivia took a deep breath.
"I'm ready..." She smiled, looking up from her shaking hands.
"Let's do this then." Travis said, climbing out of the car and going round to help his sister out of the car.
"You look amazing..." Travis said proudly.
"I know...that's what you've told me like 100 times today." Olivia laughed.
"Come on then." Olivia said. Travis linked arms with Olivia before they slowly made their way down the walkway of the venue. They met Herrmann outside. His eyes watered when he saw Olivia.

"Wow." Was all he could say.
"Wow, Herrmann speechless? That's something I never thought I'd see." Olivia laughed.
"You look amazing, kid." He whispered, giving her a hug.
"Now I have to ask you one more time as your best friend. It's not too late-'' Travis shut up fairly quickly when Olivia whacked him round the back of the head once again.
"I'm not running Travis. This is everything I've ever wanted and more." Olivia smiled widely.
"Okay then...let's do this." Travis grinned, holding out his arm again for Olivia as Herrman did the same on the other side. Olivia took a deep breath and looped her arms through theirs before she held her flowers in front of her waist. It was go time.

Olivia could see Jay and Antonio stood right at the end. As her smile grew wider, Olivia could see everyone standing up. The music had already begun playing as they started the slow walk down the aisle that was made by some of their closest friends and family. They had chosen to have 'I Get to Love You' by Ruelle as their aisle song.

As they walked down the aisle, Olivia froze as she spotted something on the front row. There were two empty chairs. One with a sign on it and one with a framed flag and firefighter helmet on it. As she walked over, tears sprang to her eyes when she saw who's helmet and flag it was and what the sign read.
"You picked a good one there kid." A familiar voice said. Olivia smiled as she saw Pruitt sitting behind her dad's helmet.
"He did this?" She asked, glancing at Antonio who also had watery eyes.
"He called me and asked if I could arrange it." Pruitt said happily.
"Thank you." Olivia said as she walked round to give him a hug.
"He'd be proud of you kid. I certainly am." Pruitt whispered in her ear. Olivia smiled as she wiped her eyes.
"It's a good thing I used waterproof mascara, hey?" She joked as she finally walked over to Antonio.
"I thought your parents should be included in your special day." He told her as they held hands.
"Thank you...you have no idea how much that means to me." Olivia told him as she wiped her eyes.
"Take care of her." Travis said to Antonio from behind Olivia.
"I will." Antonio smiled. Travis went and sat down in the front row along with Herrmann.
"You look beautiful." Antonio said. His eyes were red and watery.
"Thanks handsome." Olivia said, before they turned to face the chaplain, and with that, the ceremony began. After the chaplain said a few words, it was time for the vows.
"I believe the couple has chosen to write their own vows." He spoke, before looking over to the couple. Antonio started.
"Olivia, you're honestly such a pain in my ass-" Antonio said, before he paused as everyone laughed.
"But I wouldn't have it any other way. I love you beyond words. We've been through a lot together and we've only come out stronger. I want to spend the rest of my life with you. You're the best thing that's ever happened to me and I cannot wait for what our future holds because as long as I have you, I'm ready for anything." Antonio spoke. Olivia smiled as she wiped away a few stray tears.
"Wow..." She laughed, trying to calm her emotions as everyone else laughed at her reaction.
"Antonio Dawson, what can I say? You're my best friend. My rock and because of you, I laugh, smile and dream more than I ever have." Olivia paused for a second to compose herself. She glanced at Travis who had the biggest smile on his face and watery eyes.
"You're my best friend. I feel like everything in my life has led me to you. My choices, my heartbreaks and my regrets. Everything. And when we're together, my past seems worth it, because if I had done one thing differently, I might never have met you. Thank you for the miracle of you. You are, and always will be, my person and I can't wait to start the rest of my life with you by my side. With you, I'm ready for any adventure..." Olivia finished. Antonio had watery eyes too but did his best to keep it together.
"Now, Antonio, do you take Olivia Fletcher to be your lawfully wedded wife. To love and to hold her, through both the good times and the bad. To stay with her in sickness and in health, for however long you both shall live?" The chaplain asked.
"I do." Antonio smiled.
"And Olivia Fletcher, do you take Antonio Dawson to be your lawfully wedded husband. To love and to hold him, through both the good times and the bad. To stay with him in sickness and in health, for however long you both shall live?"
"I do." Olivia grinned as she looked at Antonio in the eyes.
"Congratulations, by the power invested in me, I now pronounce you husband and wife. Good luck, you may now kiss the bride" The chaplin said, making everyone laugh and cheer as Antonio and Olivia leant in for a kiss. The couple walked hand in hand down the aisle as everyone around them cheered and threw confetti.
After taking some pictures and spending some alone time together, Antonio and Olivia arrived at the reception venue. They had originally wanted to hold the reception at Mollys but due to the amount of people they had invited, they decided it was best to host it in a bigger venue.

Olivia and Antonio waited outside the room as the DJ got ready to announce their big arrival.
"Now she will be hyphenating her last name to Dawson-Fuller, but just for the special occasion, Ladies and Gentlemen...can I introduce the happy couple. Mr, or should I say Detective, and Mrs DAWSON!!" The DJ called out over the speakers as Olivia and Antonio walked through the doorway. Everyone cheered as the couple walked into the room and the music started playing again. They smiled and went around talking to everyone.
The rest of the evening was filled with dancing, laughing, talking and of course speeches. After a few speeches from 51 and intelligence, it was time for Travis and Olivia's speeches.
"I was pressured to keep this short and sweet otherwise we would be here for hours." Travis began, making everyone laugh.
"You all know how much I love Olivia and most of you know what we've been through together. If you don't know, long story short, we were both seriously injured in a skyscraper fire back in Seattle a few years ago and we both almost didn't make it out of there. But we did, and that incident only brought us closer. It broke my heart when Olivia left Seattle to come to Chicago but I see now how great that decision has been for her. I have honestly never seen her so happy and Liv, I can see just how much you are thriving here." Travis said, looking at Olivia. That's when the tears started from both of them. Travis had to clear his throat to compose himself.
"Antonio, thank you for looking after her. I know she is bat-shit crazy but that makes you love her even more. And to everyone here, thank you for welcoming her into your family and for giving her the life she truly deserves. Love you Liv, here's to the happy couple!" Travis raised his glass, leading everyone to do the same as they toasted the happy couple. Olivia stood up and hugged Travis tightly.
"Your turn." He said, handing over the microphone.
"Oh jeez." She laughed nervously.
"I have never been one for speeches but I'll give it a go I guess." She laughed nervously.
"When I moved here, I never imagined how my life would turn out. In a way you could say I was running from trauma but I found my safe space here, with all of you. I'm not going to say much because I know you all know how much we love you. So, thank you all for coming to help us celebrate our special day. Here's to a million more memories together!" Everyone cheered and toasted their glasses into the air again as Olivia leant down to kiss her husband.
"Ladies, gents, officers and firefighters, the time has come for the happy couple's first dance! So please, take your seats, clear the dance floor and welcome onto the floor, Mr and Mrs DAWSON!!" The DJ cheered over the microphone. Antonio stood up and took Olivia's hand in his before he led her onto the dance floor. Their chosen first dance song, 'Like I'm Gonna Lose You' by Meghan Trainor, started playing.

As they swayed along to the music, Olivia was the happiest she had ever been. Not only did she have her Chicago family there with her, she had her Seattle family too.
"Mrs Dawson." Antonio beamed.
"Mr Dawson." Olivia whispered.
"I love you." He whispered. Olivia had butterflies in her stomach.
"I love you too." She whispered as she held him tightly. They both were lost in the music and in each other's arms. As Olivia looked around them and then back at Antonio, the only thought she had in her head was to live in the moment as life is so crazy and unpredictable.
