Yeah you know how I headcannon Cody as overly nervous when he's alone/away from certain people? Yeah no I made a short-

So basically in this short:

Pikalus X Cody. Can be seen as platonic I guess-

Cody paced, waiting for the moment. He was about to give a speech. He was usually fine with this stuff, but there was one major difference.

Pikalus wasn't going to be there.

He said he would, and Cody was perfectly calm. But then they got a call saying he couldn't show up hours before, he panicked. Truth be told, Cody had been growing a lot closer to Pikalus. Of course, he was close to Sam and Selena as well! But, him and Pikalus had been getting extremely close.

No, really, they would usually stand directly next to eachother if they had the choice to do so. If not, they'd get as close as possible. No one knew if this was just a coping mechanism for Cody after what happened to his brother recently, or just something going on between him and Pikalus.

Back to the current moment, Rasmus watched his nephew pace nervously. He huffed. "Stop doing that, your going to make a hole in the floor at this rate. Calm down, it will be fine-"

The rooster got cut off. "I can't do it! He's not next to me, I'm scared and I don't know what to do! I can't talk about Joe by myself, I miss him!" Rasmus swore he could see tears in Cody's eyes, but they were quickly blinked away.

"Why does he need to be next to you?"

Cody froze slightly. "Well... I don't know why, but when he's not next to me, I feel... hopeless. I feel weak, and worried. I don't know where I get these feelings from!"

Rasmus shook his head slightly. "You'll do fine, Cody. Atlantis looks up to you."

But Sam was watching with Selena, as the sisters looked at eachother. They would have helped, but they didn't know how.

Rasmus pat the kings back. "Now go up there, Alright? I'm right here."

Cody nodded before stepping out. He instantly regretted it as the chatter stopped. He felt all eyes turn to him. An uncomfortable silence swept across the area.

Cody flicked his eyes back to Rasmus, who was looking at him with worried eyes. The penguin wanted to talk, but he couldn't. He stood there, before turning. He wished Pikalus was there, or better, his brother.

Empty space.

All his doubts suddenly crashed onto him as the silence was replaced by muttering in the crowd. His body froze. Only his legs moved when he didn't want them to.

They stumbled backwards, and turned. He ran. He didn't know where he was running to, but only when it came into sight he knew.

The lab.

He saw Pikalus standing outside, talking with someone. He turned his head to see Cody, confused. As Cody slowed down his run, he could see the tears running down his face. Confusion turned to concern as he walked towards him.

Cody's heart beat inside his chest. His breathing picked up, and he couldn't see through the fog his tears formed. He was gasping for breath, a few sobs escaping every now and then.

Pikalus stood in front of him, his eyes full of concern. "What happened, Cody?" Cody hugged Pikalus, sobbing into his chest.

Pikalus instantly placed an arm on Cody's back, and started soothing him. Soon enough, Cody got his breath back. His heart rate returned to normal, and his tears stopped.

"I-I panicked up there... I couldn't do it..." Cody pulled away slightly, looking up at Pikalus, who sighed. "Sorry I wasn't there Cody... I should have been."

As they both embraced, they didn't see the faint form of someone they knew all too well.

He smiled sadly, knowing they wouldn't know he was there. But knowing Cody wasn't alone, he felt perfectly content with that.

"Glad to see your doing okay, Cody... I miss you..."

Joe turned and walked away, knowing they wouldn't hear him if he tried to talk to them.

Trapped in a mix between alive and dead... it wasn't the most joyful. He could mess with a few items, that had its perks. But no one could see him...

"Thanks, Pikalus... I miss Joe, but... I know he's watching me... he's always there... I can see him..."

The chicken stopped walking as he froze. He turned, seeing Cody staring directly at him, smiling. He let go of Pikalus, before walking over to him, tears building in his eyes. He hurriedly wiped them away.

"Y-you can see me?" Joe stuttered out, still in complete shock. His brother smiled. "Yeah... I guess I can... I... I don't know how but I wouldn't change it for the world..."

The chicken grinned before pulling his brother in, his arms turned solid as his embraced the penguin.

Pikalus walked up to them, along with Sam and Selena, Rasmus following. They took one look at Joe, and while Rasmus was shocked, Selena cried, and Sam tackled both Cody and Joe in a hug.

Everyone else joined in the group hug.

And that's where the story ends, readers. Nothing else happens after that that is known. All I know is that Cody did the speech, his brother and friends at his side. It was a huge success!

Cody still got anxiety attacks from time to time, but Joe or Pikalus or someone would always be there to calm him.

Cody usually looked back on that day and thought, 'What if I didn't run to Pikalus?' But he doesn't want the answer, nor does he care for it.

He wouldn't change what happened for anything in the world.

He found his brother again. What more could he want?
