Part II - My Sister, The Victim

Sexual assault is one of the most used ways of torture against both men and women, especially women, not only in South Asia but all over the world. The culture of treating women as objects has become so normal that it's sickening. Despite many movements like #metoo survivors can still not openly talk about the subject that has been made taboo. Every country has several laws against culprits yet rarely anyone comes forward to report incidents due to various reasons.
In this story, I introduce to Zaib - a survivor, and her sister Maheen - a victim

She couldn't forget the blues.

The clear, blue sky on that eventful day.
The blue dress.
The blue hair ties.
The blue face.

The blue feeling inside her.

She carried that feeling everywhere with her.
From her bed, to her university, to even her own wedding, the blue feeling remained a constant companion.

She was told this was a phase she had to get past, that she had to give her husband what he desired and she hoped so ardently that he wouldn't desire anything from her body.
For she had locked up her body and her soul and never intended on giving up the key to anyone.

He gave her a lesson about lust and desire a long while ago, taught her how filthy it was, how dirty it could make her feel.
So she vowed never to let anyone's desire ruin her. Once was enough.

There were days when she wanted to gauge her eyes out.
Days when she wanted to shout and scream and tell everyone that she knew who the culprit was.
Days when she felt like the bed was her best friend and days when she loathed that same bed because she missed her sister.

But life goes on, or so they say. Her's seemed like it had stopped after that day 13 years ago

She was hoping her wedding would be the life changing thing that happens to her.
Although she wasn't sure whether it would change her life for better or for worse

However, the future is frighteningly unpredictable and sometimes, that's the best thing about it.
