Florida makes a comment in a meeting with the countries one day about how he's 175 and Spain has to double take because he knows Florida should be older, but had pretty much no control over what happened to him after he was admitted to the union
So sometime at the end of the meeting he asks to talk to Florida alone and Florida admits that all he knows is that Spain is supposed to be his father, but the personification had died and been replaced with him way early on, but was close enough/happened early enough before being admitted to the union that no one had noticed the switch

Texas finds out what California said in the recent episode ("You're helping him? He didn't even vote for you") and starts to feel unsafe around California/blue states because of it
Utah tells him that they aren't angry at him and that they don't think he deserves anything bad, but he's still careful about talking to them

Old DC being replaced by Gov triggered Florida's separation anxiety disorder, Florida checks on him constantly now that he's back, asking more often if he's overstepping boundaries and reminding him to get sleep or food or water

Old DC has a stutter and is self conscious about the stutter and his voice, he only talks when someone asks him something and tries to be ignored as often as he can 
He also struggles with self esteem and feeling like he belongs at meetings
Anytime he looks too out of it/upset Florida will lean over and ask him something so the others can't hear or tries to do something stupid to pull the focus away from him
