thirteen.
When the power had gone out, Jackie tried to show off that she knew how to fix it, and it was like karma was out to get her because after a couple seconds the power went back and and it took everything in Zela not to laugh at her sister.
When the two were no longer on speaking terms, Cole had Zela in his room while he was outside in the loft fixing it up for her to sleep there.
Cole had gone through everything, setting up the heating system, and even putting the TV that Zela had brought from New York up for her. He had spent hours in the loft, cleaning it up, and making it to where Zela could actually sleep there.
When Katherine and the boys got back, Zela walked downstairs, and Jackie was in her room, doing whatever.
"Why's the power out?"
Katherine asked, and she heard many other voices and she sat at the fireplace that Cole had lit earlier.
"Where is everyone?"
Danny asked, as he walked around looking for everyone, and soon found Zela sitting on the floor in a different outfit from when they had left.
"Why didn't Cole turn the generator on?"
Alex questioned, as the front door opened and Cole walked in with his hoodie and jacket on.
"What were you doing out there?"
Katherine asked, as she looked at him, and Cole looked over to Zela who looked away from him.
"I was fixing the loft up."
He said nonchalantly, and Katherine looked at him confused, as Alex looked at Zela with a small smile.
"Why?"
She asked, crossing her arms, and Cole looked to Zela for permission, and she slowly nodded her head.
"Zela and Jackie aren't on speaking terms currently, and Zela felt more comfortable away from her. I figured I'd set up the loft for her instead of putting her in a room full of teenage boys."
He said, and Katherine looked over to Zela to see if he was telling the truth, and Zela nodded her head.
"Well, I'm glad you're stepping up. I want the full details on what happened later, got it?"
She said, as Cole walked Zela out of the house and into the loft, where she looked around in pure joy. It looked so cozy, and Cole had done it all for her.
"Thank you, Cole."
She said, and Cole nodded his head, as he started to go down the ladder, "If you need anything, just call me."
Looking down at her phone in her hand, she nodded her head and slowly sat down on the bed. Cole had gotten all of her belongings from her room earlier, and brought them all up here.
"Knock knock."
Hearing Nathan's voice, her body felt instantly relaxed, and he came up looking at the place in shock.
"Whoa. He really fixed up the place."
He said, as Danny made it up the ladder and nodded his head, as he dusted his hands off on his pants.
"What happened?"
Danny asked, as he went and sat down in the swirly chair she brought from New York as well. While Nathan and her sat on the bed.
"At the bonfire, Cole almost kissed Jackie. I got plastered because I realized Cole didn't actually like me how he said he did. Then every time I would look at Jackie, all I could think about was how she almost kissed Cole. Jackie blew up on me about it and told me we weren't actually sisters. Cole blew up on Jackie, and I kinda broke down in the rain, so Cole gave me a bath and fixed the loft up for me."
She summarized, and Nathan looked over to Danny who was doing a reverse motion with his fingers.
"Take that back just a notch, Cole bathed you?"
Danny questioned, and Zela slowly nodded and tucked a strand of her curly hair behind her ear.
"He didn't look at anything, he washed my hair and washed my back, I washed everything else."
She said, and Danny listened before he leaned forward grabbing Zela's hand.
"Zela, Cole gave you a grand gesture."
He said, and Zela looked around and shook her head as she played with Danny's hand.
"I'm not giving in to anything, I can only have my heart broken so many times before it's permanently damaged, guys."
She told them, and Nathan sighed pulling her into him, as he kissed the top of her head.
"If, I mean if, one of us isn't married by the time we're thirty, we'll marry you."
Nathan said, as he motioned to Danny, who nodded his head and Zela quietly laughed as she looked between them and brought them both into a hug.
"I don't know what I would do without you two."
She whispered to them, as she stuck her pinky out and the other two interlinked their pinky's with hers.
"Now, we have to go, but promise us that you'll be okay out here."
Danny said, as they both got up to leave and Zela smiled at them as she motioned for them to go.
"I'll be fine, I promise."
She said, and the two took their turns kissing her cheeks before the left down the ladder and out of the barn.

As the night rolled on, Zela was in the midst of watching H2O: Just Add Water on her TV, whenever she heard someone coming up the ladder.
"Oh, hey."
Zela said, as Alex came up looking around as the aquatic animals swam along the ceiling, and sat down on the bed as he looked at her.
"I talked to Jackie."
He said, and Zela looked at him, and leaned up off her bed, as she motioned for him to continue.
"I truly think you should apologize, she seemed genuinely hurt."
He said, and those words were like a punch to the gut.
"Me? Apologize?"
She said, and Alex nodded his head, as he looked at her and Zela dryly laughed, shaking her head.
"Hell no."
She said strictly, and as Alex was about to say something Cole swiftly came up and looked between the two.
"What are you two talking about?"
He asked, and Zela got up and stood in front of Cole, as she was about to go off on Alex.
"We're talking about how Zela should apologize to Jackie for being a dick to her."
Alex said, and Cole's jaw clenched at those words because he had heard everything that Jackie said to Zela.
"You don't know shit."
Zela said, stepping forward, and Alex rolled his eyes and stepped forward but was quickly pushed back, as Cole moved in front of Zela and protected her.
"Why don't you go have a little talk with your girlfriend and get the story straight. Jackie told Zela that they weren't actually sisters."
Cole said, and Alex looked at Zela who glared at him, and Alex looked away sighing.
"Jackie told me Zela said she was the reason her parents got in the accident."
Hearing those words fall out of his mouth, Zela was ready to storm to the house and beat Jackie up to the pulp.
"That is not true, and you know it."
Cole yelled, as he pointed at him, and Alex looked down in guilt, as he realized Jackie had lied to him.
"I'm sorry, Zela."
Alex said, before he quickly left, and Zela sighed punching the wooded wall, busting her knuckles open slightly and Cole grabbed her hand instantly and sighed.
"What am I going to do with you?"
He whispered, as he started bandaging her knuckles, and Zela looked away as she was trying not to cry at the thought of Jackie ruining their relationship even more.
"Hey."
He whispered, gently grabbing her chin and making her look at him.
"It's going to be okay, just let everyone cool down with time."
He said, and Zela nodded her head, as she looked up at him, and reached up to cup his face. Grabbing her wrists, he held them there, and shook his head.
Cole did not want to take advantage of someone in such a vulnerable state, especially if that person was her.
"Get some rest."
He told her, as he placed her hands back on her sides, and left down the ladder without another word.
