Greta Thunberg’s difference from others contributes a great difference for the future of the world.

    At the young age of eleven, she has already experienced depression. She quitted eating, attending school, and socializing with others. She was invisible because she was different from others— she has Asperger’s syndrome. However, she later on realized that she must make a change for herself.

    She started eating, talking to others, and attending school, but the big difference started on August, 2018. She had enough of the issues regarding the climate change, and started the school strike for climate done every Friday at Sweden. She skipped school because she believed, “Why should we care for our future, when we may have none.”

    Climate crisis has been prevalent among the world. There has been an increase in temperature, severe calamities such as flood and forest fires that caused ruin to Earth, yet people still do not take these seriously, and instead, they continue to ruin and steal the lives of the future generation. Greta believed that humanity is running out of time, and that they must focus on this matter.

    The school strike started becoming viral, and just like wildfire, it had spread across the world. She held speeches on various events such as World Economic Forum, United Nations Summit, and more. Besides that, she became an inspiration to millions of people to stand up for themselves and the climate. She even stated, “We need to do something and act as if we were in crisis, because otherwise people won’t understand that we are in crisis.”

    Despite of her condition and sickness, she is able to lead and speak up for the Earth. Having Asperger’s syndrome did not stop her, and she turned this into strength rather than weakness. 

    Differences will not be hindrances for change and to saving the world. As long as there is a strong will and purpose, it is all possible. It is possible to make a difference throughout a difference.
