Chapter Six: So This is Home?
Alfred was anxiously holding the gum wrapper in between his fingers as he sat in the back of the uber. He was nervous beyond belief to meet everyone, his entire family was waiting for him in this house. He just looked out the window as he remembered what his bandmates had told him.
"Alfred, if you ever feel unsafe, call one of us. I'll be over as soon as possible," Conrad ordered firmly.
"If Carmen is anything like me, you shouldn't be scared," Alicia explained.
"Ya sure," Enzo joked, earning himself a slap from his wife. Rin hugged him and handed him a small charm.
"You're totally amazing, Alfie. You'll do great," Hiroto nodded in agreement. Dimitri cupped Alfred's cheek and kissed the other one.
"If they hurt you, let me know and I'll flatten them,"
"Dimitri! That's no way to talk!" Ro pushed him and huffed, "listen, love. You'll be bloody brilliant! You're a fun guy and I'm sure they love you!"
"Oui! Alfred, you are smart and caring! If they reject you then it's their loss!" they all watched him get into the uber.
"We're here for you, Alfred!"
Alfred smiled at the thought of his bandmates. They were like that really weird family that the whole neighborhood found super odd, just like a human Adams Family. Alfred had always been alone until he found them. After all, the very family he's going to see in a few minutes abandoned him. But, they didn't abandon him? Carmen said that he was taken from his cradle. I'm sure they would explain everything, right?
Alfred was about to ask the driver if they were close when the car stopped.
"Well, this is it, buddy. Leave a good review for me, eh?" the man asked. Alfred chuckled and nodded.
"Thank you, I will!" Alfred got out of the car and gawked at the large mansion. He gulped as he opened the unlocked metal gate and walked down the cobblestone pathway. The walk seemed to make the universe slow to him, he was so nervous. His heart was pounding out of his chest and his palms were sweaty. He got to the porch and took a deep breath, lifting his hand to knock.
"ALFREDDDDDD~" he didn't even get a chance to knock before the door swung open and he was tackled to the ground by a crying blob with white hair, "Mein totally awesome nephew finally came home!!!" the man was then snagged by the back of his shirt by a brunette.
"Prussia! You could have hurt him! We all missed him!" she then threw him back and held out her hand, "I'm sorry dear, your uncle is more of a toddler than an empire. I'm your Aunt Eliza, I represent Hungary. Come on in before you catch a cold," Alfred gently grabbed Hungary's hand and followed her inside. He walked into the entryway, shedding his coat. He looked around and found the house quite warm and inviting.
"Should I just explore on my own?" Alfred asked. The other two shrugged and sighed.
"I don't see vhy not, jou'll meet vhoever jou don't find at dinner. Have fun!" Prussia walked off towards the kitchen as Hungary took Alfred's coat. Alfred gulped as he looked around, the place was so big he wondered if he would get lost. Just then, a loud yell came from down the hall. Alfred thought that was the best place to start, so he slowly walked over. The door was labeled 'Game Room' and cheers were echoing from behind it. Alfred took a deep breath and grabbed the metal knob, slowly turning it. He opened the door and looked at the room curiously, shutting the door behind him. The group was still on the couch and didn't even notice he entered.
"HA! I WIN AGAIN!"
"HONG KONG THAT WASN'T FAIR! MY KOALA WAS BUGGING ME!"
"WHAT THE HELL, AUSSIE! SO WHEN MY MACAW SQUAWKS IN MY EAR IT DOESN'T COUNT BUT WHEN YOUR KOALA PAWS AT YOUR PANTS IT DOES!"
"BRAZ YOUR MACAW ISN'T TRAINED! SO IT DOESN'T MATTER!" a girl screamed.
"WHAT THE FUCK?! PHILIPPINES WHY ARE YOU DEFENDING AUSSIE!!!"
"CAUSE I GOT LAST SO I'M A SALTY BITCH!" Alfred had begun to walk up to the loud group as they started another match of Super Smash Bros Ultimate. The girl was sitting on the floor, losing again. Alfred crawled and sat next to her, tapping her shoulder and making a 'give me' gesture. Philippines blindly handed over her controller to the hand and watched in awe as her character kicked ass. The group was too focused on the match to even notice it was Alfred playing, not Philippines. With one final blow, Zero Suit Samus knocked Kirby off the stage. Philippines shot up and cheered.
"YASSS! THANKS, DUDE!!!" she turned to face her savior and her breath stopped. Everybody looked down and saw Alfred smirking as he held the controller.
"No worries, dudette. What are awesome brothers for?" Alfred felt a bit better as he laughed at their faces.
"Alfie?" they all asked.
"The one and only, miss me?"
"ALFIE!!!" the group tackled the blonde to the ground, all of them laughing.
"We can catch up over dinner, I've still got an entire family to find," Alfred giggled as he escaped the deathly dog pile. Alfred ran down the hall and opened a random door, finding it to be a library. He looked around the room and saw a tuff of dark brown hair sitting on a chair next to a ginger and light blonde.
"I'm telling jou, The People vs Alex Cross is ze best book," the blonde argued.
"You're outta ya mind! Mary, Mary is the best!" the redhead retorted.
"Well, I like Criss Cross the most!" the brunette finished. The three began to bicker louder as they debated. He snuck up behind them and peeked at the book they were reading, it was one from James Patterson's Alex Cross series. Alfred smirked as he chuckled.
"Nah, Cat and Mouse is obviously the best. That or London Bridges," the three men looked up and gasped.
"Alfred?! Is that really you, lad?!" Alfred nodded as the ginger tackled him, "I'm your uncle Allistor! I'm Scotland! That's your Uncle Joao, Portugal and Uncle Ludwig, Germany!"
"Awesome," Alfred smiled as Portugal kissed his temple and Germany gave him a firm handshake.
"I'm sure Monaco and India are in here, they like the library," Portugal explained. Just as he said that the two appeared, staring at Alfred. The American didn't even get a word out before he was tackled by the two of them. Alfred laughed as his two elder siblings babbled to him.
"Guys, we can catch up at dinner. I still wanna find Canada and Mexico," Alfred informed the group.
"Oh, the two of them are in the den with mama, papa, and dad. They've been in there for the past few hours," India explained.
"I will take jou, frére," Monaco gently clasped Alfred's hand and lead him down the hall to a pair of large oak doors.
"Thanks, sis," Alfred nodded to her as she walked off. Alfred gulped and slowly opened the large doors. He was met with the group, knitting a blanket with his flag as the pattern, "is that for me?" Alfred asked shyly. Canada and Mexico whipped their heads as they turned around. They shot up and ran right into their youngest brother's arms.
"Welcome home, hermano!"
"God, I've wanted to see you since I found out aboot you! We look so much alike, eh!" Canada kissed America's temple. Alfred was on the verge of tears as the three empires stood up. France and England both kissed and hugged America closely. Then America was met with Carmen, his mom. They gazed at each other and America could feel her longing familial love for him. He could see the centuries of loss in her deep hazel eyes. His heart leaped when he saw her face, he knew she missed him dearly. He wasn't abandoned, he was lied to. He ran right into her arms and cried as she embraced him.
"Mijo, welcome home," she whispered to him as she cried.
"Finally, I'm finally home"
Alfred began to cry into her shoulder, this was it. He was actually home. He couldn't wait to meet everyone else like him.
But he had to survive his family dinner first, which would no doubt be crazy.
