Chapter Nine: Family, Meet International

The nations who hadn't seen Alfred's memories were filled in by Canada and India, much to their horror. All of the family felt horrible for him, the fact he had been alone for the majority of his life. At least they had each other, no matter what was happening government wise. But Alfred didn't have that luxury, he didn't even know any of the other nations or had met another personification formally. It worried them greatly and they all made a mental note to introduce him to allies.

Just as the nations finished setting the table and cooking breakfast, Alfred came down. He had showered and was wearing one of Canada's black tees and a pair of Australia's jeans. The nations noticed something they hadn't noticed yesterday, which was Alfred's dog tags jingling around his neck.

"Mornin' everybody~" Alfred smiled sweetly to them as he took a seat between Luxemburg and Netherlands. The taller smiled slightly to his young nephew and rubbed his head.

"Good morning, Alfred," he replied. Many others gave Alfred a 'good morning' as they began to eat. Alfred took a pot of coffee and poured himself a mug, smiling as he did so. He downed it quickly and filled up his mug for a second time.

The nations were quick to pick up on the fact Alfred never stopped smiling. It was as if it was his default face.

Alfred also made his plate, giving himself a huge stack of chocolate chip pancakes with syrup and a mountain of cheesy scrambled eggs and hot sauce. England looked at him as Alfred poured himself a third mug.

"Ve~ You drink a lot of coffee, Alfred~" Feliciano giggled. Alfred shrugged and smiled.

"Well, I've been drinking it every morning for like 250 years. It's honestly the only way I stay awake,"

"What's the most coffee you ever drank?" Northern Ireland asked. Alfred began to think and chuckled.

"During the Great Depression, I would drink maybe two or so gallons daily," France choked on his toast, and Germany did a full-on spit-take with his own mug. Seychelles and Phillipines looked at him worriedly and Cuba just gawked at him. Brazil and Portugal looked at each other in disbelief, while Prussia and Scotland just stared at Alfred. Italy and Romano also gave looks of concern towards the young blonde, and Hungary began to feel queasy at the thought. Spain was the most concerned and stood up.

"Mijo, why did you drink so much coffee?"

"Cause of all the paperwork my boss gave me. Hoover wasn't a bright politician, by any means. He felt the more I worked, the quicker the problem would be fixed. Despite his awful political career, he wasn't a moron either. He proved he could be pretty manipulative when he needed to be," Alfred took a sip and continued, "he often guilt-tripped me and basically blamed my stupidity for the stock crash. Ya know, it couldn't possibly be the fact the prohibition kickstarted organized crime. Or, it couldn't be the fact the government's stupid policies caused massive inflation and ballooned the economy's credit. No, it was me being stupid," Alfred groaned and rolled his eyes, "he was always such a pain, much like President Pumpkin now,"

"Geez," New Zealand mumbled. France got up and patted Alfred's back. Alfred smiled at the blonde and looked to the table.

"When Franklin became my boss, it was such a relief. He actually listened to me and after a few years, we were able to dig ourselves out of the depression. He was also pretty gutsy and sly, especially during World War II. He could find a loophole through any policy if you gave him a day," Alfred chuckled and shrugged, "the greatest American presidents are the ones who listened to me. Washington, Lincoln, Teddy, all of them took my opinion into account," America finished his food and wiped his mouth. He was about to speak again, but the doorbell rang. Germany stood up and sighed.

"I vill get it," he told the group as he left. Walking down the corridor, he also heard knocking. Once he got to the door, he looked through the peephole. He didn't recognize the man at first, so he opened the door, "may I help jou?"

Faster than Ludwig could blink, he was shoved against the wall. The man had Germany pinned with his muscular arm on the nation's neck. His brown eyes showed anger and disgust, piercing into the blonde's soul. Conrad looked ready to kill Ludwig right then and there.

"Where's Alfred?" he growled. Another man rushed in, his brown ponytail messily tossed over his shoulder. His green eyes also held anger as he looked to Ludwig. Dimitri would also show no mercy as he joined his husband.

"V-vhat are jou-"

"Alfred! The blonde teenager who came over yesterday with a sweet smile and baby blue eyes! Where is he?!" Three women ran in along with a man, a teenage girl, and a teenage boy. The man with brown hair and a birthmark on his chin yanked the two taller men aside. He banged Ludwig against the wall by his neck, choking his roughly. Enzo's face was contorted in so much rage, you could feel it emanating off his body.

"Listen here you Cornuto! You better tell us where Alfred is or I'll slit your throat and tear you limb from limb!" Ludwig felt his blood run cold when he looked into the man's eyes. But, like the angel he is, Alfred came to the rescue.

"Enzo!!! What are you doing?!" Alfred yelled as he pried Enzo off Ludwig. The German took deep breathes and steadied his footing. Alfred looked to Ludwig with an apologetic look, "are you ok, Uncle Ludwig?"

"Uncle?" Conrad asked. Alfred nodded and was about to explain himself when Ro slapped the back of his head.

"ARE YOU ABSOLUTELY DAFT YOU GIT!!! WE'VE BEEN TEXTING YOU ALL MORNING AND YOU HAVEN'T SAID A BLOODY THING BACK!!!" Alfred rubbed his head and looked at his phone, noticing he had ninety-two unread messages and twenty-eight missed calls.

"Sorry, Ro. I was having breakfast and forgot to check my phone," Alfred smiled sheepishly. Odette sighed and hugged Alfred closely.

"It's ok sweetheart, just try to remember next time," she kissed his forehead. Many of Alfred's family members were now peeking down the corridor. Rin and Hiro ran up and tackled Alfred to the ground, glomping to his sides. Alicia chuckled and helped the trio up, wiping Alfred's clothes.

"You guys didn't need to come and save me, ya know. I can handle myself," Alfred told the group with a giddy smile.

"Yes, we know Alfie. But it doesn't make us any less worried," Rin replied. Alfred chuckled as she hugged his arm, Philippines growing jealous from the hallway. Alfred then looked back, smiling at the peeking nations. Realizing they'd been caught, the group all ran back to the dining room. It made Alfred laugh as he looked to Ludwig, who had recomposed himself.

"Vell, vhy don't jou introduce jour friends to the rest of the family?" Ludwig suggested as he closed the front door. Alfred squirmed and looked at the band, sighing.

"Before that, you guys should know something. It's gonna sound really crazy so, just don't freak out, cool?" the band nodded and looked at Alfred worriedly. Taking a deep breath, Alfred spoke, "I'm sorta the personification of the United States of America," he waited a bit to see the band's reactions. Hiro scoffed and rolled his eyes.

"Yea right!"

"No, no it's true. I represent the US, Ludwig here represent Germany," Alfred gestured to the blonde German behind him.

"Technically, Vest Germany. Mein older Bruder represents the former Prussian Empire und now East Germany," Ludwig explained.

"Each family member you're about to meet represents a different nation. It's actually pretty cool!" Alfred smiled at the group. Reluctantly, the group agreed to hold off on judging for now. They all walked down the corridor, Alfred twiddling his fingers nervously. When they arrived in the dining room, the group was shocked to see many familiar faces. These were the delegates they had preformed for!

Canada walked up to them and smiled, waving to them.

"Hi there, I'm Canada. Alfred is part of a set of triplets with me and Mexico. Call me Mattie, eh!"

"I'm Mexico, but my human name is Juan. Nice to meet you," looking around, Arthur stood up.

"Arthur Kirkland, the personification of Great Britain. I'm also one of Alfred's fathers," Arthur hugged Alfred's side.

"One of?" Odette asked.

"Oui! I am ze other one! Francis Bonneyfoy at you service! I represent ze lovely country of France!" Spain got up and waved.

"I'm Alfred's mother, Carmen. I represent Spain, wonderful seeing you all again!" The Italy brothers were next.

"Ve~ I'm Feliciano! I represent Northern Italy! I'm Alfred's uncle~"

"I'm Lovino, the personification of Southern Italy. I'm also Alfred's uncle," the Germanics were up next, Prussia of course going first.

"I am ze awesome Prussia! Arthur und I are tvins, so that makes me Alfred's uncle! I now represent ze Eastern part of Germany! Call me Gilbert," a yellow chick popped onto his head, "und zis is Gilbird,"

"I am Austria, but jou may call me Roderich,"

"I'm Elizabeta, but you may call me Liz. I represent Hungary,"

"I'm Basche, otherwise known as Switzerland,"

"I'm Lilli, I represent Liechtenstein,"

One by one, the nations all introduced themselves. The band was having a good time, even if all of Alfred's siblings and cousins would be impossible to remember. They all introduced themselves back, telling their story on how the ended up in the band. The group was getting along fine and some of the band members really bonded with their homeland cough Conrad and Alicia cough

The day was interrupted when Germany got a call...

From Russia...
